Watched 2012 GF tonight. Bloody miss AJ, he would be the best defender in the comp by now bar injury. Better than Rance.

There is a lot of similarities between then and this year. I can see us being in the big dance. **** it..... We will win it.... AA Norm Smith.

And NO i havent had 3/4 of a bottle of Bundy tonight.

In getting the stats together for my most recent 'Josh Kennedy is underrated' MB post, I discovered that JPK received 0 Brownlow votes in 2010, despite being 9th in the comp for clearances, and a grand total of *3* votes in 2011, after leading the league for clearances and ranking 2nd for contested possessions.

What the?!

Today should give you plenty of material.

Joe Daniher: chose Bombers over Swans.

Based on what you've seen so far would he have been a valuable addition for the Swans?

No because then we probably wouldn't have recruited Buddy and wouldn't have 56k members.

Taking a long contract punt on Reid at a yiung age or taking a long contract punt on Daniher seems pretty equivalent to me.

Notwithstanding the odds are good that Daniher keeps improving from here.

During yesterday's telecast of the Swans v Port game, Piggy Dunstall said that players were slipping and yes it was noticeable that they were. He also said they should change into their screw inns ....

Now I'm not the full quid on this so I would like some comment from those in the know. I thought screw inns were taboo these days, as far as I know they don't even sell them. I watched a game live out in the WA Goldfields last week and they too were slipping. I said to my boy (31yo son) who was playing, "change into your screw inns", his answer was "not allowed any more dad "

Please help me with this. Surely there are some kinda boot that is better under slippery conditions than just the plain mouldeds ??

Leg and feet soreness from screw in studs had nothing on the pain received from old hammer in studs (We used to call them stops). I started playing footy as a junior with hammer in studs in my pair of Peter Hudson White Diamonds. I had my fair share of blisters, etc... because the point of the nails on the studs hadn't been flattened correctly. Seem to remember reading about some VFL players from the 50's and 60's putting orange peel in the sole of their boots to rectify this problem. When I bought my first pair of Puma screw ins I thought they were a gift from heaven.

And.............no such thing as soft toed boots in those days either. Did they help to prevent foot injuries which are common these days?

Just christened my new tv by watching the last quarter of 2012 grandfinal recall.

The colour is amazing you can actually see the tears rolling down Sam Mitchell's cheeks.
If it's a really good telly, with a few minor adjustments to contrast & exposure you should also be able to gauge the salinity of his tears... You may have to watch it over & over & over again to pick up on it though. It's very subtle.
