Ross second thats very interesting.
Keep in mind that Newnes/Ross are in their 5th pre-seasons now, where as most of the others are in their 2nd/3rd/4th. Still it's a good result for Ross, hopefully he can up his times as pre-season continues and implement it in games.

Acres 4th is very pleasing, I think he's the one we're all expecting/hoping to make a big jump this season.

he killed it in that nab challenge game vs bombers this year before he did his hammy.if he can have a big preseason he'll surprise a few i recon.
Including all those Bomber fans who didn't want him as part of the Carlisle deal :p

In all seriousness, the Acres and Minch ones are the two that most excite me there. The big criticism of both those guys in the past has been their tank - plenty of talent, but neither could run out games. For Acres, that meant he's often been brilliant... for the quarter he's played as sub. For Meatball, he's been amazing in the guts at Sandy... but only had the tank to play small forward for the Saints. If those two can get their tanks up to AFL standard, that is going to be very, very exciting.

New High Performance Manager Matt Hornsby said the decision to hold a 2km time trial directly after the initial run was as much to test the players mentally as it was to measure their current fitness levels.

“It was about creating a scenario whereby we need to expect the unexpected.” Hornsby told SAINTS.com.au.

“We can’t always be looking for the finish line. In a game of footy, even though we know a quarter is roughly 30 minutes, who knows exactly when the finish line is going to be? As a result, we need to have that mindset of working hard until the very end, whenever that may be.”

“I was really pleased with the attitude of the boys. They didn’t drop their heads and focused on trying to achieve the best they possibly could when they were absolutely cooked.

Love this. I really like what Hornsby is about. Good mindset.

GET EXCITED FOR 2016 BOYS

Bad news is 6 of them pulled hammies;)

Don't panic just a little joke

Massive rap for Seb Ross, was devastated when he done his hammy in the NAB cup last year. That pretty much wrote his year off but was able to string some half decent games towards to end of the year esp that one against the cats. He reminds me so much of Armo in that he will continue to improve gradually until he builds up his tank and will then explode into a 25+ inside mid possession winner on a week by week basis.

Interesting the comments on Carlisle not quite being ready yet. Perhaps Essendond's fitness program isnt quite up to standard.

Anyone heard anything on what sort of shape longer turned up in?

Did he manage to stay away from the pies this year?

Even worse than VBs I got the impression (from one of his interviews) that it might have been VBs while playing WoW. That's a truly scary combination.
There was a new expansion last offseason, would explain his lack of condition lol.

Yeah, Billly comes across as a massive nerd. Playing WOW, larping... who wants to bet he has a reasonable collection of magic: the gathering cards. :)
I'll bet you my icy manipulator that he is!

Wonder who his WH40k race is...

Geez, Freeman could give Curren a run for his money in the gun department!

No wonder he's had hammy problems, his bloody legs arent strong enough to carry the weight of those guns:eek::eek:
It makes sense co's Ive got arms like a ten yr old Ethiopian girl and i never did a hammy once playing footy:thumbsu:

Let's not get too ahead of the results of some of our boys today.

Some elite runners were sitting out, such as: Freeman (one of the best runners in his draft, and I'm pretty sure he won the time trial for COLL last season), McKenzie (another elite runner), Webster is also a very good runner, and Dunstan (although he's big), isn't too bad himself. With these guys in, results would be very different.

Also great to see Sebby only 12 secs behind Newnesy, that's a terrific result. Expect him to make huge strides in 2016.

When all of the boys do another time trial soon, we will get a better indication of how fit some of our guys are, especially when more elite runners such as Gears comes back.

Hopefully the boys can all beat their PBs soon, especially Paddy, Meatball, and Acres

It's one to do well in a foot-race, but does it mean you will get more of the footy? I don't think so- some players are just able to read the play and get hands on ball better than others. I watched GAblett jnr a couple of times up close, and in packs his eyes were glued to the ball from when it got thrown in until it left the rucks hands, while our guys had backs to the ball or were watching or blocking other players- in the meantime Ablett ran off with the ball. Anyway just me rambling on..
