Not in the 2011 pre-season they weren't. We had an (almost) full list going into the MMC, from that point on we lost 2-3 players per week to bizarre contact injuries.

Your comments are, however, entirely valid for the 2009 & 2010 pre-seasons. Pre-season training underwent a major revamp last year, which significantly reduced our pre-season training injury count.

And IMO, was the reason we couldn't run out games. Let's hope we've found a middle ground.

Would love to hear some more on players like Jacobs, Otten and Tambling who we haven't heard too much about if possible. :thumbsu:

Pull into the bus station off west lakes boulevard Blackbird. that's where I usually go. Some people like to be cool and go off by themselves on the other side of MBR though :)

Hoping to make it along thursday as well.. work really slow atm.

Is MMC short for Mickey Mouse Cup? Kudos, I like that.

Didnt the rut start in that very first trial game against Carlton? You're right in saying we got to that relatively unscathed, but from then on it was all downhill.

I remember a few of us being worried about this durign pre-season last year.. had we swung too far the other way.

I think a key factor in not being able to run out games was the game-style itself... will be interesting to see how a more direct, competitive, style of footy impacts that ability.

Everything's new witha new coach/game-plan so we'll have to take it as it comes.

It is massively heartening to be at this point and not have a huge injury list...

Just park in the carpark off West Lakes Blvd where the AAMI stadium footy bus terminal is.

Thanks guys :thumbsu:

I'll stand corrected, but my memory is that we still had plenty of injuries last year - they just weren't the sort of injuries that lasted forever. Instead we had a bunch of players injured for, say, 3-6 weeks, most of which cleared by the time the preseason comp came along, so they didn't prevent the players from playing, but did prevent them from building up a sufficient fitness base (which, in my opinion, was incorrectly attributed to the "lighter preseason").
