Tambling training with the mids is music to my ears. Let the bloke do what comes naturally and it won't take long to see results. Confidence up, fumbles down. Getting him real fit will help the confidence too.

Lynch got a corkie not long ago. Likely just a precaution and I'd imagine he'd be almost over it.

Any idea why Lyons wasn't with the main group? Wasn't aware if he had injury or surgery. Perhaps just a management thing?

Not sure what the issues were with Lyons. He seemed to be running freely during his laps. Maybe a slight tweak but he did look alot bigger then last season. His arms had alot more bulk and rip.

I ventured down to training today for my first of the year.

Lewis Johnston and Luke Brown played as defenders in the match drills.

If you need to know much more just ask and I will try to answer what I saw.

Thanks Chief great work. Who did Johnston match up against and how did he look? Any thoughts on Brown do you think he could slot straight in next year?

I have high hopes for Tambling lets not forget he had no preseason last year. If he can stay fit and gets good gametime and confidence fron Sando he could have a big season.

Lewis played as a tall back. This however meant he got the first task of matching up on Tippo . Giving away alot of height and weight he was overwhlemed. He also got match ups on Tex and Jenkins where he faired much better. In the 1 on 1's he was outbodied by the bigger players but he seemed very good if he could get seperation and use his leap to get the fist in from behind.
I'm expecting he will play 3rd tall and this will release Otto to the midfield.

I think Brown will play next year (likely as a half back flank). When he had the ball in hand he used it well and seemed to pick out the right options. At one stage he was sprinting through the guts and managed to burn off Hendo which highlights his pace. My only concern would be letting him get one out alone deep to goal as his opponent Porps killed him time and time again (or is that simpy because Porps is a gun ;)).

Really pleased to hear Tambling up and running. I am a firm believer that if he were to get a full preseason he'd be a different player. Last year was always going to be tough. New club and he didnt get close to the footy's till after the Christmas/New Year break. The only reason he got games early was due to injuries and I don't think that necessarily helped to be out there underdone.

There's very few in the AFL who Porps wouldn't destroy in one on ones. In 08 he destroyed most with only one arm...

Some better pics of the tat for Jenny

Thank you! :thumbsu: Just surprised me to see one of our lads branded - particularly a sleeve.

Speaking of tattoos. Can someone confirm whether McLeod had one of the club's emblem on his ankle? Had a friendly argument with a family member years ago over a blurry training photo that was never resolved.

Yeah he does. Most of the guys from 97/98 have a tattoo on their ankle. Wonder if Port are making Rehn & Edwards cover theirs up while they're at the Club...

Anyone heading down tomorrow? My one day off, I badly need a sleep-in, hmmm..

Starts at 9:45, so not so early, one positive.

We shall see. ;)

Got lotsa free time at the moment, will head down. Will also do a report, although the draft will take up 99% of tomorrow's news
