Listening to SEN, WOW.
So Maynard is guilty for bracing on the way down. Yet Patrick Dangerfield takes out a Richmond Player in the first minutes of a GrandFinal in 2020. No issue and nothing to see. Patrick Cripples (not Cripps) jumps up and his hip makes head contact with a Brisbane player, Round 21 - 2022, and gets off the two week suspension.
Yet Maynard, according to the haters is guilty and should get weeks. It's unbelievable the hate out there.

All I have heard is how Melbourne should have won the game, How the pies were luckly, How the Melbourne team missed shots for goals, Yet if Elliot kicks the two goals 25m out in the first quarter, we lead by 5-6 goals instead of 20 points.
The hate for Collingwood and any credit to them finishing on top of the ladder seems to have been forgotten.
So, When the pies win, they were lucky. When they lose, it's the Colliwobblies.

Two years in a row our tackling has gone unrewarded by umpires in the qualifying finals. I lost count of how many times it happened last night. I understand wanting to put the whistle away a little bit more in finals, but holding the ball calls are really the only 'positive' free kicks, if that makes sense? It's such a disadvantage as a pressure team to just see them put the whistle away.
At 3QT said to my brother I think these umps were being royally stiff on us, "but its not where near as bad as last years' QF".

Cue that last quarter and genuinely couldn't get a thing out of those guys. AFLUA serves these crews up for our big time games who, time and time again, show an eager propensity to "put the whistle away" on basic calls before charging in on completely innocuous ones.

If your forward line is shit, you’re unlucky.

If your midfield is shit, you’re lazy.

If your backline is shit, you’re unaccountable.

The Collingwood hate is certainly back in full swing. I have been a bit disturbed by some of the comments I've seen/heard in the last few weeks in particular. I guess we should try to take it as a positive in some way because if we were actually no threat, no one would care, right?

You see the problem is in the first three words you typed

I think the only disappointing things about the Bruzzy incident was it wasn't Fritsch- the nerve of these Fairweather, cheese eating, Red wine sipping irrevealnt morons
If Josh was holding the ball, so was Lever.

There was also another uncalled clear kicking in danger on Gawn about 3:15 into the game.

Fritsch got a free for nothing in a marking contest, we were just lucky that Langdon took the advantage and ****ed it up.

Bowey threw it on the boundary line.

MacDonald dropped it should have been holding the ball.

Petracca dropped it and got a holding the man free in front of goal.

Mihocek had his arms taken out in the marking contest, BT called it a “body spoil” by May. Goes up the other end and we have a chopping the arms free paid against us.

Gawn got away with multiple clear shoves flat in the back of his opposing ruck.

I could go on…
How many times did they try and drag Cox from the contest - you could clearly see them pulling his jumper

The other one was (when game was almost over) IQ takes that mark on the outer halfback flank, crowd roaring and you can clearly hear the umpire say to Petracca twice to move away from the protected area but does FK all to pay 50 when Hill get 50 paid with no warning whatsoever..

This was the second warning

Mihocek missed two easy set shots too during that dominant period. The game should have been out of reach if we had taken our chances.

Look at Cox' post-game interview. His jumper has been stretched into the dimensions of an artist's smock.

Replying to myself, I have changed my mind. I think the AFL can only classify Maynard's action as a reasonable contest on the ball - no case to answer.
I’d agree, if I thought that Christian had the balls to cop the inevitable screams of criticism by classifying it that way. But I don’t.

Getting to the principle of it - what are suspensions for?

Punishing players and deterring them (and the wider body of players) from making those decisions again. What exactly is Maynard supposed to learn from this? When if he's in the same situation another 100 times, he and every other player would make the exact same decision to smother the ball all 100 times because that is football instincts.

I find myself revelling in it a little bit.

Hahaha wow there are some bitter old campaigners on this board.

We. Beat. Melbourne.

Only stat necessary, and who cares how last night went in terms of Clearances, F50 entries etc... We don't know who we're playing in a fortnight and we will adjust personnel and game plan accordingly.

Easy to sum up - a team with elite A+ defence, B+ midfield and A- forwards managed to subdue a team with A++ midfield, A+ defence but B- forwards. It's just about managing our strengths and weaknesses vs our opponents and clearly that was executed well.

The personal abuse on this board for arguing pointless status is mind-blowing when your team has literally put themselves in the best position possible. I can only summise that there's been a lot of Collingwood heartache through the years, especially at finals time, and the attempts to point out how bad we are is a coping mechanism for those that believe we're doomed.

McRae channelled his inner Eckhart Tolle last night when he said we should just be in the moment. He makes a good point. Right now the moment is a wonderful place to be.

Can't get the grin off my face. Every store I've been in today has had staff chattering about the result and it warms the heart.

GO PIES

I thought we had Free Speech on this Forum

Agree Personal Attacks are Pathetic but we can say what we think of how the Game was Played
