Surely not? He has exited concussion protocols and surely he wouldn’t have been named if he had any lingering symptoms. Brisbane just ruled Marcus Adams out of their finals campaign regardless of how long it goes for due to concussion related symptoms.
Yes, but that’s Brisbane and Geelong are the late change premiers.

Its a long time since we have had 4 emergencies of this quality in finals. While i think there will be late changes it illustrates our depth
And probably started the year with Dal ano Higgins potentially in best 22? They haven’t really been in best 26 for back end of the year.

It is a strong team - now just needs to put it together

Atkins is no slouch in that respect. But your point is valid. I think though, we have 3 inside kids with Sel, Atkins and Danger. None of whom could be classed as quick. I expect our wings and high half forwards to push up hard, so they’ll be around the contest.

Say what you want about team selections. But there is no way anyone would describe Danger as anything other than quick.

If we assume Parfitt isn't a late in, it is a left field decision. My thoughts:

-They want to keep all forwards in as I expected. So both Rohan and Miers, with their two different skill sets, are backed in.

-They value Zuthrie (who I thought may be the unlucky one) because besides playing well, he has had more continuity (more durable?) and releases Duncan/Touhy to the wing/HFF more. He probably allows the Henry switch forward if we need it, too.

-Blicavs and Atkins midfield minutes have put the squeeze on Parfitt. With the heavy rotation focus through midfield I expected they would keep all of them. But perhaps the very low games and minutes per game of Danger/Sel compared to previous seasons means they are ready to give them closer to full games.

-Atkins has had reduced responsibilities to recharge him and now we expect a role similar to the Port game.

-Focus on skill: strong ball user in Zuthrie makes the cut ahead of a bloke whose weakness is probably ball use?

The ins are uncontroversial. It was always about who would miss.

They must be confident Atkins will bounce back to pre-Parfitt levels because Parfitt has been very good since returning and Atkins borderline poor.

I thought they’d take an easy option and leave Zuth out. Happy for him as he has earned this.

Overall not meltworthy but gee Atkins will need to step up.

Those (very few to be fair) sooking about Parfitt out, others would be having the same sooks about Zuthrie or Atkins or something else missing.
We've been through this, 2 players MINIMUM are going to be insanely stiff to miss out.
The fact all of us could find arguements to include Parfitt, or MOC, or Menegola into the final 22 says far more about our depth than some are giving credit for.

I've seen every single person comment on the depth actually, today and the previous month.

Parfitt was surprising on recent form, but to their credit one poster picked it. I anticipate more mid minutes for Atkins, Danger and Sel (the latter two getting more time on ground).

I am happy for Zuthrie who I feared would only keep his place by dropping a forward (which would have been a worse choice than Parfitt).

The only thing I would say is our mids must play well. We can't afford Danger, Sel, Blitz or Atkins to be off (I'm not worried about C.Guthrie).

One two many defensive players for my liking.

really worry we might go into our shells this game and revert to defensive football.

really hope im wrong.

So, something we haven't done all year they're going to suddenly do after 23 games?

Not sure? But he hasn’t been “right” for a while. And often struggles after a break.
Missed 2 games with a hip complaint and was one of our best Vs Saints the week before, a strong run of form before that.

He's actually got a great record in first games back too (I believe his second game back sometimes he's been quiet).

What's actually wrong with him?

And if he does miss and we win that's 6 weeks potentially bringing him in for a prelim.

Duncan has been managing a minor hip issue - they had hoped that one week off would be sufficient & that he would get up for the WCE match

Obviously he was then given an additional couple of weeks off hoping that will see him right to go for the remainder of the season - so hopefully he doesn't have another week off, but even if he does, I wouldn't be too concerned if they bought him back into the team off 4/5 week break as he's one of the best players first up after an extended break

MOC, Parf and Menegola have had interrupted seasons. Looks like the MC have gone with players to run out the game.

O'Connor has played every game since round 4. I can understand dropping him based on form, but I doubt you could honestly characterise playing 19 of the last 19 games as an "interrupted season".
