I think I will go to the doctor and get some xanax. I'm not sure I can cope for another 24 hrs.

Bateman must have trained the house down today. He does have a knack of playing well against the cats. I think Clarko wants guys that will tough in the contest and hard at the ball. If he plays well it will have a huge impact toward a win.

There's a good balance between youth and experience. You know that Chance will go in hard, tackle hard, do all the 1%. With due respect, I don't feel Bruce has shown that side to his game.

To all the guys not playing in our side, I hope they work super hard on the track. There's still a lot of football to be played whatever happens.

Re: Hawthorn Vs Geelong Teams

Whitecrosss will be the sub.

It does not matter which team umpires support. They are professionals who will not let any apparent bias influence their decisions. We need to stop whinging.. especially before the game has even been played

Think Whitecross is too important to our forward press to be the sub.

Gibbo can beat Pods, just needs some assistance from his fellow defenders. Against Brisbane for example we had Murphy wrestling Brown while Gibbo came over the top and punched the ball clear on several occasions. Unfortunately Murph will probably be busy enough with Johnson but hopefully we can do something similar.

There's every chance Gibbo can beat Pods and Shoe can beat Hawkins. A lot hinges on this. If those two guys can really focus on bringing the ball to ground, we will get a lot of run from the back half.

Re: Go hawks!

I think Schoe might go to Pods. I don't think Pods took another mark after we put Schoe on him in the third.

I like the team a lot. I'd say Changa to be sub.

Please stop whinging about umpiring. It's frankly embarrasing, and if I was a Geelong supporter coming in here seeing that, I'd be chuckling to myself.

I think we should win this - we've shown we have the capacity to beat them, and we shouldn't fade out tomorrow with 8 stars being so well rested. I expect all 8 of them to stand up in the last and win it for us. Tomorrow going to be huge!

OUCH, Bateman has been a shadow of his former self, did he deserve selection? Possibly Cats will outrun him, would have preferred stratts or savage, other than that, Im sure Bruce will be pissed he didnt get selected, what was the point of having him in there?

Not that much hinges on it really, I HIGHLY doubt Hawkins will be a SHADOW of the game he played last week and cats will use other goal scorers if these two dont fire, we have to concentrate on our own game winners.

Pods' six goals on Gibbo was just "one of those nights". Pods didn't play particularly well - it was just that EVERYTHING went right for him. The ball fell into his arms; bounced right; got a freekick when it was clearly (from the Umps blindside) a freekick AGAINST him...

Our defence completely shut him out after half time.

The reall danger, as ever, comes from Geelong's smalls. Christensen, Menzel and Duncan must not be lost in the contest as we go three up against Pods/Hawkins.

Christensen particularly is fantastic below his knees. Must protect front and square.

Also have to ensure frontrunners like Varcoe and Stokes don't get into the contest with cheap goals that boost their confidence.

Re: Qualifying Final #2 - Hawthorn v Geelong - Discussion Thread

Savage isnt even an emergency.
His form hasnt been great but his pace and finishing would have caused the Cats some problems IMO.

Good luck Changa, great to see you keep your spot.:thumbsu:

No disrespect Buddy, but Sav hasnt caused anyone any problems of late so i dont know why he would all of a sudden cause The Cats probs this week.

Not fussed at Bruces absence but suprised all the same.

As for Changa, I can only hope that he was held back last week, because he pretty much did nothing imo.

Whatever the case, it's a pretty good line up. Altho I cant predict the sub at this stage.

My 20cents worth on the game:
- hodge has to work his butt off and beat Ling, not sook and give up. Should not go into the backline as Ling is very comfortable there. If it's a hard tag and he can't shake it, go forward. Ling will freak out.
- Bailey v Ottens, I'm backing big Max
- remind Hawkins he is a ****
- Lewis, Sewell and Mitchell you are stars hunt the ball and bash them up inside like we did v Carlton
- Clarko don't go to defensive and keep a forward line. Make them worry about our stars. We have more of them
- move the ball quick and precise no bombing long into the forward line as the soft c--- cats defenders all zone off and protect space. Hit up short targets like Bruest, WX, Cyril etc and Buddy if he is smart and gets on his bike

So when* we win what are your thoughts. Rub it into all cat fans that we have the wood over them in finals or wait just incase we meet them in the grand final. Remember this is
a battle in the war, not the war.
Come on Big Max, Ottens is crucial to their runners giving them first use of the ball from the boundary throw in. Keep your eyes on the ball not on ottens as the wind could play havoc with the throw ins.
No cheap goals. I don't want to see one cats goals from a little give off a pack to a player running into an open goal. With the forecast strong wind which swirls around the G long range shots could be a bit of guess work. Run in goals where the player can keep the ball low will be like gold.
And in the last quarter if it is close and we are going forward every cat will be on buddy or in his leading space. Look for other options. Eg hale At the top of the goal square.

What you are saying is true, but regardless, there is loads of evidence to suggest that most umpires adjudicate Selwood and Franklin incorrectly. Both to our detriment.

Might not be bias but it is incompetence.
