As he posted, his wife screams in fear when he's driving and he blames her for potentially causing an accident. Plus other lovely attitudes.
My wife has done this, and I'm an excellent driver obviously.

She also nearly made me crash the car when she screamed because she caught a shiny pokemon.

Quality coaching isn't linear.
Still, every job I've ever had that I've done for 5 years... I was better at that job as time went on.

If you fit a linear line to my non-linear improvement (try it in excel! You'll be pleasantly surprised!) it would trend up.

I don't know we can claim that for Nicks.

Milera is one I think on talent alone is best 23, but also given the improvements we've made, in terms of who we brought in and younger players improving, I don't think it's a must we bring him straight back for Round 1. We tried that in 2022 and even though he looked great in pre-season that touch just wasn't there, even immediately in the SANFL when he was dropped back the next week.

Let him get back to speed in the SANFL first and get him beyond a doubt that he's got the touch and game sense back before we consider him otherwise I feel we're just setting him up to fail.
I'm open minded to him playing really well in the preseason games.

I have said in recent years that we should not rush back players who were returning from long term injury. Imho they should have at least 4 SANFL games before playing AFL.

At the start of every year Nicksy and the other selectors ignore my warning (go figure). My Round 1 team does not include Milera, Pedlar and Butts. Based on this assumption I believe almost everyone would agree on 17 of the players I have selected which leaves 6 (spots)* up for grabs. My Round 1 team is as follows;

Michaelanney. Murray. Worrell

Cumming. Keane. Hinge

Peatling. Dawson. Sholl*

Keays. Walker. ANB

Rachele. Fogarty. Thilthorpe

O’Brien
Soligo
Rankine

Laird*, Crouch*, Curtin*, Draper*, Nankervis*

Laird wins the 7th defender position over Bond, Ryan and (Milera).

Crouch wins the 4th inside mid role over Berry.

Sholl gets first crack at one of the outside mid roles with Peatling, Soligo and Dawson playing a combination of inside and outside mid.

Curtin splits his time between forward and midfield.

Draper fights it out with Nankervis for the last spot with the loser taking the sub role.

I agree 100% in season, but if a player has a full, or near full, preseason, I'm not sure that the they'd be all that far behind.

Depends where we see him in the pecking order I suppose.

If they see him as most here would, around the 17th-23rd player selected for R1, or even outside of that then they'll probably give him a week or 2 in the 2s.

Of course he's gotta get through the trials first and that hasn't always been easy.

I keep trying to help, he's not all there, this is not a normally thinking person. As he posted, his wife screams in fear when he's driving and he blames her for potentially causing an accident. Plus other lovely attitudes. It's amazing that this guy is protected by Admin and worse, that I got points for re-posting this person's own thoughts. Just read the below, it's not normal.

The question has to be asked why being the plethora of Wayne’s strange posts you all complain about why are you so hung up about those including his wife ?

Guess it’s off season.

Sigmund’s answer would be fascinating though 🤨 :moustache:

My concern is that we will only play one genuine trial match. No amount of match sims and scratchies can properly test players for the real thing. Every year we see players in Round 0/1 absolutely exhausted early in the third quarter.

In the unlikely event that we get no additional injuries prior to the first match, Milera, Butts and Pedlar are not clearly better than the player they might replace (Laird, Keane or Curtin/Draper). I would also not rush Draper in if he is 100% fit and ready to go. He did play very well when he returned from injury last year so I am still hopeful. Butts and Milera have taken some time to get up to speed when returning from previous injuries.

I would pick Milera over Laird for D7 given his run and kicking. Rory feels like a liability back there.

I suspect that if the 7 defenders I have listed are fit and firing AND Milera is back to his best THEN we will play Cumming on the wing.

Imho outside midfielders (aka wingmen) are one of our two greatest weaknesses. Sholl and Jones/Dowling played some good footy at times but a rotation of Dawson, Soligo, Peatling and Cumming through the wings would take things to another level.

I think a full preseason while playing for the probables puts him in the trials and if he goes well there, I reckon that trumps SANFL tune ups.

That he uses those posts thinking that it's winn8ng him an argument says a lot about his mental faculty.

I could be wrong, but I thought Milera was a fair way ahead of those two. Butts only just returned and Pedlar is still in a non-contact hat. Also, I doubt Milera pushes Laird out, Nank would miss I reckon. I see the 3 certain smaller defenders as Max, Laird & Hinge (Cumming to wing). Reckon it's a genuine toss up between Milera and Nank with Bond really, really unlucky after what he showed.

Teams get to play their best 22/23 about once every 3 years. I would love our best 23 to be available for round one but history says it’s very unlikely. We might see all three in round 1 (Laird, Milera and Nankervis).

We might be looking to play four new players, Cumming, Peatling, ANB and Draper. Only Cumming is a defender but can play on the wing. The squeeze is much greater for our midfielders and forwards if everyone is available. I have no doubt that Laird, Milera and Nankervis will all get games in the Ones this year.

Every team has a good small forward. The Bond role as a pure stopper is valuable. Particularly if your can produce enough run from the other defenders around him.

He actually becomes another true KPD.

Why not Hugh Bond? I fear our backline will be too tall.
