Saints were very disappointing.
The Lions are not a bad team by any stretch - but they will be struggling to make the top 4. The Saints should be taking these matches or at least battling to the line in a close contest. Not this rubbish. I know its very early in the season but I would have hoped for a more spirited effort. The team seemed disorganised and it lacked any semblance of a plan B. The clever ploy (by Matthews) of turning the Saints own game plan against them was a masterstoke. But this gameplan would not have worked without the personnel and the fitness. The Saints admittedly have been "hamstrung" by injuries to their specialist defenders. They have had to move players like Goddard back thus sacrificing some of their movement, ball carrying ability and the precise passing into attack that he and Gram normally provides. Sam Fisher played well on Brown but in the end Brown gets the nod with 5 goals.

All in all a most dissatisfying match for the Saints supporters.

Mate St Kilda are not good. Plain and simple.

Last week you were lucky that Melbourne decided to play so badly.

You don't have a good side.

Yep the injuries have gutted Saints back half but to be fair Brisbane lost their 2nd & 3rd tall forward options before round 1. It's Brisbane's improved defense that seemed to have been the key difference to what we saw last year.

And not sure anyone's suggested top 4 yet, To me this game says more about the Saints top 4 prospects then Brisbane's.

Seems that Brown was the difference, which means that the Lions will struggle to win games when he's not out there. So I wouldn't be getting too excited yet if I was a Lions fan, but it's certainly promising when you smack a side who many predicted to finish the season a fair bit higher than your own.

If you'd actually watched the game, you'd know that Brown kicked 2 goals when the game was still on. He kicked 3 when the result was already decided. Our rucking and our backline won us the game.

Great win by the guys - I havent seen the game as its not on TV (due to the dud TV deal) but I am so pleased with the way things are heading.

The young guys made big strides last year (despite the lack of wins) and are really making further improvements this year. The team has a really strong spirit and closeness and despite what others may think some of the tough decisions made (although hard to swallow by some) will certainly benefit all in time.

We have a good combination of youth and experience too which puts us in a good situation for future development of the team.

Some exciting times ahead I am hoping.

Go Lions!

never in doubt, saints were rubbish tonight and to be honest I just find it weird how they were favourites to start this match.

well played brisbane
