Will rewatch tonight on the big TV after being limited to the phone last night. Definitely on my list of things to watch for. Martin another, want to see if his lack of direct impact was offset by opening up some space for teammates with dunmy leads.

Will also be running a little mental count on the number of times SPS opted to corral when he should have applied tackle pressure. Definitepy something I noticed a few times last night and want to see if it's just confirmation bias or if he's consistently doing it.
Will watch out for your comments later, I feel if i watch a game a second time (sometimes I refuse to when we play so poor), I notice so much more. Watching live you def have more bias and are more emotional in your critiques.
Poor you having to listen to Dermies comments twice (I think he was quite painful last night).

lol at heraldsun. No Weitering, no Jones inthe top 5? wondering if they watched the game.

Best:
BLUES Walsh, Cripps, Dow, Newman, Betts, McKay, Kennedy
Makes you wonder.
McKay nowhere near our bests. Probably one of the poorer 3 goal KPF games I’ve seen.
Looking at the glass half full though, it’s better to have a poor game and kick three than a poor game and kick diddly.
McKay struggling without a second KPF.
Casboult provided zip until moved into the ruck in the last. Changed the momentum of the game that move.

Stocker might just be a career back pocket. The quintessential straight-line player. Imagine being an opposition midfielder goalside of the centre square, back to goals. Hesitate for a heartbeat and you just know that the Stockernaut is gonna run straight through you.

Was a barrel chested number 37 who played in the late 70s / early 80s. Spent two thirds of his career in the back line and was thrown into the middle when we needed something special. Always delivered.
I think we’ve found another.

As bad as Levi was, seemed like the most balanced side we have put out this year. I have said for a while Pittonet and TDK can not play in the same side, and I have no doubt it’s no coincidence that we have played better when we have gone solo with TDK.
Replace Levi with Charlie and let Jack S rest TDK in the ruck. Phwoooooor.

came back into his game a bit, but its something he definitely needs to work on.

He drew comparisons to Dangerfield when he was drafted.

I also agree with those talking about Dow's body maturity. James Worpel, Bailey Smith, Matt Rowell etc all came into the AFL with AFL ready bodies. Dow has not. When Dow's body matures, he will be a force to be reckoned with. His numbers these last few weeks are better than Darcy Parish's numbers at the same stage of his career. I reckon they follow similar trajectories, as they are both late bloomers that probably only hit puberty at 20/21.

Dow has shown enough to convince me he isn't your run of the mill player, he is an explosive midfielder that hits forwards lace out and can rip away from the contest in a way that makes everyone else around him look like their stuck in the mud.

Parish looked AFL quality from his first season, it was all about improving his endurance base and being played in the middle.

Dow started a lower base, and really only showed a few nice glimpses in his first few years. His limitations were always purely physical.

I’ve seen the Parish/Dow trajectory comparison thrown around a few parts on here, but IMO it’s a little off. Parish is more reminiscent of Marc Murphy, getting some midfield minutes but otherwise dividing his time in the middle and up forward. Dow in a better team would have developed in the reserves. Think the Dangerfield typecasting is still correct.

Great game from Dow though. I’d partially written him off a few rounds through this year, but he is looking confident and has been exceptionally clean around the stoppages, won clearances and is also managing to hit some decent passes inside 50. Huge turnaround.

Someone really needs to make a gif of that pickup in the (2nd?) quarter as he extracted a hard ball and then exploded into space. Judd-like.

Defensive structures are poor and still need a lot of work..

But...
How good is it actually having a midfield that actually clicks and works together...
Walsh, Dow, Cripps, Kennedy, SPS, Curnow, fogarty & Newnes all worked great together tonight
and the best thing they lowered their eyes going forward and connected with our forwards...

hallelujah!!!
How are the defensive structures poor? Not what I saw. Weiters, Jones covering everything, Newman and Saad swooping and Plowman, Stocker completely accountable. We play 1 v 1 because Teague trusts his players. Throw back a spare when needed. 1 v 1 suits the quick rebounding style Teague wants to play and it is bearing fruit as the bodies mature and tanks develop.

Now I don’t know exactly what’s going on with the coaching setup but I suspect Luke Power is a lot more hands on with Dow than he was with Barker there. That can only be a good thing having someone of Powers stature bringing these young kids along.
A couple of times Dow extracted beautifully but then hand balled to a stationary teammate, when he actually had the space and pace to clear the stoppage himself. When he gets that confidence to back himself he’ll go next level.

A midfield coach that develops as well. That could just about work!

don't get me wrong think he will be a great player and has tremendous talent but what was so great about this game? 13 disposals and two marks seems fairly average
Did you not notice the defensive pressure, beast mode tackles and mongrel? Oh you only look at disposal stats! Righto. Look harder.

In there fighting to extract the ball at the centre bounces was a damned fine effort. Also, knowing when to step back and pounce on the ball as it exits the pack was also a great move. And then his moves through traffic... almost better than sex! Better than chocolate beer!
Chocolate beer sounds bloody awful!

Dockers and their fans must be sick of us.

2019 - Murphy kicks a checkside goal in the last minute
2020 - Newnes kicks a ridiculous goal after the siren
2021 - We beat them twice despite struggling this season

If Paddy Dow puts in the biggest mfking preseason ever over the summer he is going to explode. He’s got a whole other level fitness wise to get to, I just hope he wants it enough

He should watch some petracca this year compared to any season before and see what can happen with excellent preparation.
