I think that Clark is just hurrying it all the time, probably partially because of his smaller frame can't bust tackles yet.

Possibly, and with that in mind, he seems to lose sight of the ball where it's contested. Then does an okay job of getting over it, but not getting it out. Needs a bit more radar. They are all the hallmarks of experience, adjusting to the pace and strength and we are obviously going to be patient, with the talent he no doubt has. Think they'll extend his chance to learn on the job.

When asked to improve my output at work I might respond that I'm "thinking of things"

What about,
"Reasoning in regards to effects of...."

Just use a thesaurus to switch words around and pretend to have a larger vocabulary 😂

Interesting addition:
"Geelong’s 2024 Regional Guernsey includes the colours of every Cats AFL player’s junior or local club – whether Australian Rules or Gaelic Football – in a stripe around the middle Hoop, with each player’s guernsey also individualised to feature their junior club logo.

In total, 37 clubs are represented on the guernseys, including AFL Barwon clubs Anglesea, Barwon Heads, Grovedale, Leopold, Newtown and Chilwell, Queenscliff, South Barwon, St Joseph’s and St Mary’s."
Great idea

I've been quietly optimistic because even though our AFL team has been looking as dodgy as hell, our VFL team has been going well. However I watched the VFL game on the weekend and they looked flakey as well. Based on that display, few if any look like future AFL players. However, I don't think promoting them will hurt our chances in the AFL as some of our AFL players don't look AFL standard either. Any of Hardie, Mannagh, Humphries, Jeka might be worth a try. They all look solid enough for AFL. Clohesy is a bit light, O'Sullivan doesn't look ready, nor does Stevens.
Hard to know if they're up to AFL. Totally different pressure. Having lost 6 out of 7, several of them should have been tried. Mystery why they haven't been. Look how Pies have handled their plight with injuries. "Unknowns" come in and mostly play their part.

Without any disrespect to PFD or Stewy, the hole left by Selwood is Grand Canyon sized. Having said that, Stewart in particular has hardly left a glowing recommendation as next captain over the past seven weeks, which does make you wonder who our next skipper will be once Paddy retires.
Max Holmes. If appointed captain he would be same age as Joel when he became captain

The difference between the pies and Geelong has literally been that they have managed to win or break even in the close games. A lot of that has been luck or poor execution by the opposition or the class of Nick Daicos.
North by 1pt, Carlton by a goal, Hawks by 5 points, Adelaide by 4 points, a draw with Freo and a draw with Essendon.

Collingwood have only lost 1 game where they were within 2 goals in the last quarter.

We did it well at the start of the year but since we were 7-0 we are 1-4 in games where the margin was 2 goals or less in the last quarter.

And in the close ones it’s the stars that matter - Nick Daicos executes, he steps up and wins the game.
We won a bunch of close games in 2014 because of Selwood.

Jez is our superstar and he hasn’t stood up in the big moments the last few weeks.

I agree that we probably should have tried a few different players over the last month. We can't keep dishing up the same thing if we're losing week after week. But the counter is we have a long history of winning with those players, so it's fair to back them in. It just didn't work on this occasion, so it's easy to say we shouldn't have done it in hindsight. I know Hardie seems to be maligned on here, but Humphries talked about as the second coming of Gaz junior for some reason. I've no preference as to which player, but one of them (or Knevitt, Managh etc.) should probably have been tried. We should at least get a look this week.

But there's also a big difference to us an the Pies. They were forced to inject those new faces due to injury. We've actually been lucky in that regard. Guthrie is the only first choice player we don't have available at the moment.

O'Connor wasn't great against Carlton but at least he had a craic. 😃
Dad joke pun penalty incoming.

This may be stupid thinking, but it seems the MC likes Tuohy, though I'm not sure he's really a 4qtr player at this stage of his career - could he have an impact as sub though?

He offers a level of versatility - thinking I'd rather see a vet as the sub compared with a youngster stuck on the sidelines waiting for their turn
Even rotate Tuohy + Rohan as sub ???

My Boy Miers' goal in his 100th game :hearteyecat:

Was that the same team? What a fantastic win 122 - 45 :hearteyecat:

Ok. So I have only watched the first qtr highlights so far and it struck me that it has nothing to do with the “veterans”dropping off - at least from highlight perspective. 6 of our first 7 goals were driven (at least in highlight edits) by J and O Henry, Close, Miers, Holmes, Stengle, Close (with some help from Danger)…. All of those players will play next week and are NOT OLD - so no excuse not to take on responsibility again

Watching the young guys, agree, they really need to step up this week.

I think either would be great. Both impact but can't sustain and the sub is ideal for a player with nous
Would give Tuohy + Rohan a week to rest, or could play VFL to teach young guys

The best thing they can do with Stewart is tell him to follow Jake Stringer wherever he goes (forget about rebounding and interceptions) just don’t let him get a kick. Even follow him into the midfield.

That might get his head back in the game and he will naturally win 1:1s anyway.

He is all over the place at the moment. Causing us all sorts of problems.

Take the tagger off the table by playing him on their most dangerous player and ask him to play like a defender first.

I agree I really hope Stewart VC is taken off him next year he really doesn’t seem to have the right temperament to lead the group when they are under pressure and the culture is also being affected at the club judging by the players behaviour.

Next year if Danger doesn’t go around we need to find new leaders
Really? Selwood had some major anger issues on the field too..
