Of course but his defensive placement was shithouse, gave them too much room. If they are bringing it in easy you have to be right on your man. He dropped easy marks at times, kicking was shithoise. Overall was a really game from him.

Fair enough. But he has plenty of credit with me.

North definitely aren't as young as I thought they were. Their midfield is quite mature and certainly more experienced than ours.

Horrible performance. One to forget. We move on.

This is just so incorrect.

Cunnington & Goldstein are our senior staples who played big midfield minutes.

Our midfield mix for the majority of the game included those two and…

Tarryn Thomas, 21 and has played 10 games as a midfielder.

Stephenson, 22 and has played 10 games as a midfielder.

LDU, 22 and has played 40 odd games.

Simpkin, 23.

Phillips, 19.

Scott, 21.

Anderson attended some CBA’s later in the game once the young guys tired.

Our midfield is young & inexperienced, as is our forward line. Our backline is where the majority of our senior players feature.

He's got a shitload of credit with me but today was an absolute stinker. It happens and he'll learn from it.

I'll give him credit when he plays well (which is basically all the time) and call him out when he has a stinker.

I want what’s best for the club I love and have been a member of for over five decades.
This coach is terrible. Awful. I called it August 16th 2019. The day after he was appointed.

Nothing I say makes any difference to any outcomes at the Carlton Football Club, but my view is the sooner we rid ourselves of this liability you call a coach, the better off the club will be. Today. Now. Today!
For over 5 decades... wow... impressive. Doesn't mean shit to me... you get a shiny pin... wow... how awesome that must be.

I want what's best for the club and at the moment, the club is saying David Teague is the senior coach. Until they change their mind about him... he is the coach. If the club decides that they don't want him to be the coach going forward and sack him and appoint someone else... then that guy is the coach.

Also... the phrase "I want what's best for the club" is a massive cop out. Because it appears that what most people want for the club isn't actually what's best for the club. You know what is the best for the club... stability. Sacking a coach every 2-3 years isn't stability. We've achieved stability off-field, but in the football department... things are still as unstable as ever. And now if another coach is sacked by supporter pressure, I doubt we will ever achieve stability.

How many coaches did we have between 1981 and 2000? 3... Parkin, Walls, Jezza and then back to Parkin. How many premierships did we win? 4.

How many coaches between 2001 and 2021? 7, if you count Barker's 14 week stint. Where is the stability? How many premierships? None.

How many coaches have Hawthorn had since 1960? 10... 61 seasons, 9 premierships... 10 coaches. 6.1 seasons per coach. A premiership every 6.7 seasons.

The club needs stability. Sacking the coach because he's not meeting your exacting standards doesn't promote stability does it. And, at some point, us sacking coaches every 2-3 years is going to come back and bite us on the arse. At some point, not even money is going to pursuade someone to take the job at the club because they will be on a time limit... "achieve our supporters over-inflated goals within their overachieving time frame or get sacked". No one is going to want to work in that situation and we wouldn't be able to pay enough for someone to work under those conditions.

We shit the bed, every ****ing time. We can never put 2-3 weeks of good footy together.

Giants, Saints, Freo and Tigers all just above us and all a good chance of losing this week. Could go equal on 32 points with better percentage than most. Dare to dream… Then we dish out this crap.

I know it’s not all about the next 4 weeks but FFS give us something to hang on to after all this pain. Another dagger through the heart. I can’t take it anymore.

All fair but we disagree -- I still believe our game plan should be around his strengths not trying to change him trying to make him a marque player he isn't - he is a hard inside mid that is bigger than the rest and can go arc to arc all day .. until we find a way to work with his assets we will struggle through the middle .. also his game is useless unless you have some dominance or cohesion with the ruck ..
He needs to play his role around better outside players, Curnow, Setterfield, Dow, Kennedy are not the types to have in a midfield mix around him.

Think what caliber of players guys like Diesel & Ratts has around them. Their strengths were winning it in tight and feeding runners such as Bradley, Kouta, Brown, Camporeale, Christou etc

The current midfield mix is so poor and do not compliment each other’s strengths.

Ideally Cripps would be playing Ed Curnows role with a better mix of talent/strengths around him.

Having said that, when it’s your turn to chase, tackle and bust an arse to pressure you have got to give maximum effort irrespective of your standing or role in the team.

We lost flag opportunities in 93 & 94 partly because Diesel was being exploited in the middle and refused to rotate out and could not apply defensive pressure.

Changed his role and spent more time forward in 95 and wins a norm smith in one of the most dominant teams and individual performances of all time.

Cripps may need to add to his game or strengths to give us more flexibility in a similar way.

Watched the replay. Already into the second qtr i was pissed off with lack of pressure and the relaxed attitude. Looked as if the players thought "hey, we'll be right". Smiling away and having an odd laugh with norf players. Where was the hunger to win (yet alone try for finals) ffs?

By 3/4 time i did something i never do, pause and find the results. Glad i did because that was putrid.

Oh well, it's lockdown so i'm going to attempt 300 Furphys. Feel sorry for Ed's 200th, deserves better than that trash served up.

Way too late for that....

They're already seen that way. Believe me, they will not miss the chance to pick up Clarkson or Lyon or at the very least will not allow Teague to survive given the review.

Clarkson or Lyon won't make a difference, by.the time they get the loser mentality out of the players they to will be sacked. Then back to where we are now.

Yeah Matt Kennedy laughing & joking with Ben McKay after he kicked a goal was strange in the goal square.

Not sure why you feel the need to whack me to make your point, but whatever helps you, I guess.

I agree, we need stability, and I agree that we’ve gone early on some coaches in the past.
But hanging on to an incompetent, terrible, coach now, who is out of his depth, to make up for the past makes no sense to me.

Teague is no good. You’ll realise this when we replace him and you see immediate improvement.

The Blues have had trouble with consistency for many many years.

Tanking for a new coach perhaps....

You should be. If you can't see that Teague is not up to it after today you never will.

What did he do at half time to try and stem the goals we were haemorrhaging from their d50 rebounds?

He called it out at half time - but he did nothing about it...

Could've tried playing +1, could've tried telling them to not press so high up the ground, focus on opponents instead of space but we got NOTHING and allowed the shittest team in the comp pile on 18 goals.
Four games left in the season... what's the point of getting all out of bed now about it. We appoint an interim coach for 4 weeks, run through a process again after we get the results of the review which says that Teague needed better support in terms of an experienced mentor and some better quality assistant coaches in certain areas. We pay big money for a big name coach which blows out our soft cap and we can't afford to get the big name coach some half decent assistants. In 2-3 years time, we are still in the same boat we are now... and we have all the usual suspects baying for the big name coaches head.

We've seen it played out 6 times already in the last 20 years... what's another 4 weeks.

Now, as for todays game. I saw a team with zero key forwards trying to play the game. Losing Harry and having to try Cripps up forward as a tall forward was always going to adversely affect our game plan. Then rotating him through the middle to rest the 188cm Kennedy was robbing Peter to pay Paul, who had already robbed Peter. And then we moved Weitering into the forward line once the horse had already bolted.

Todays loss was down to list management. We delisted 4 talls at the end of last year... and then used our PSSS to pick up a tall as an after thought. The club knew Charlie was going to be out until towards the end of the season and didn't plan accordingly. They would have known that Casboult was running around with a bung knee and couldn't jump any more. Marchbank was a shock out with his ACL before the MSD. OMac with his stress fracture in his back was also a bit of a shock considering his preseason game form. Gov pinged his hammy... probably won't be back this year.

So suddenly... or not so suddenly, we're down to 1 walking wounded forward/ruck, 1 tall forward, 1 tall utility, 2 ruckmen, and 2 tall defenders. And zero talls in the reserves we can call on. So what does the list management team do... draft a project ruckman and a small defender. After we'd moved Philp to the LTI list and ended his season. So instead of drafting backup key talls, we've drafted nothing that we could use if for some insane reason, Casboult went down with his knee or/and Harry goes down with turf toe again. But hey... that project ruckman was so handy when Pitto went dow... oh wait... he was already injured by then.

What happens if Jones' back goes again? We're down to 1 tall defender in Weitering, a tall utility player in JSOS, a tall midfield in Cripps, and TDK. That's it... that's all our tall players over 194cm in height. That's also assuming that McKay gets back up from his turf toe injury... but if I remember the last time he had it, he was out for a couple of months? Oh, Charlie comes back the weekend after next... maybe.

So really... tell me why I should toss my toys out of the pram over Teague when we have other more pressing issues... like no talls.

Today was a total disaster there’s no denying it however having no talls at all for structure is undeniable.

Take out the following from these teams.

Darling/Kennedy
Bruce/Naughtin
Hawkins/Rohan
Lynch/Riewoldt
Dixon/Marshall
King/Membrey

That’s what we were faced with today.Whilst the good teams may overcome this, the average teams can’t.
