Cripps and Curnow were the standouts for Carlton on Thursday night but I feel we have the perfect guys to match up on them in Swallow and May respectively. I'm less worried about Curnow because I just can't see how he backs that performance up this week with a similar outing, particularly since he is matching up on May. Cripps is the one that worries me more.

Fingers crossed we're saying Swallow was Carlton's Cripp-tonite by the end of the game.

How many of Curnow’s goals were helped by 50m penalties - two? He looks the goods (was hoping we would draft him if I remember correctly) but I think the hype over his 5 goal game has been a bit much. Maysie was solid without showing top form. Thinking Curnow won’t kick five this week.

Will be a plus for us too if Kreuzer / Kennedy aren’t 100%, and Lyons gets into the game. Gibbs and Doherty cut us up last time. This was the game Barlow broke his leg too. Couldn’t believe Rocket just let Doherty roam free for the entire game. Can’t let them bully us like last time. That game was where our season all went downhill for me. Surely the boys want some payback.

Fox Sports have done their early mail article which includes who may be coming in for each side. This is why I hate Melbourne media, read the last sentence:

Gold Coast could be boosted by the return of gun on-baller Aaron Hall, who missed last week with a broken finger, as well as Sean Lemmens (hamstring). And Sam Day could finally return after suffering a horror dislocated hip injury last year.

Take away there 5 goal start , they where done by 60 pts and had 71 inside 50's against , it doesnt read pretty for them , this is winnable , Maysie needs to take Curnow , we need to at least break even in midfield .

This game will be very close, but there simply isn't a match for a fit Cripps in the competition.

The aim for you guys should be to limit his influence by restricting our outside game, allow Cripps to gather his 20+ contested possessions and 10+ clearances (he'll get them regardless), as long as the ball isn't getting to Fisher, SPS or Murphy free on the outside.

Jack Martin has 0 brownlow votes for his career! Can't believe it.
What are the odds that he breaks his duck this year? even this week?

He has enjoyed playing against Carlton going back the last 3 years.

13 possessions, 2 marks, 3 goals
30 possessions, 12 marks
19 possessions, 10 marks, 3 goals
14 possessions, 6 marks, 1 goal
