Big fan of Barlow but he is not Suns future , Florini, Lyons ,Swallow are . The reason Hall ahead is because he can play inside and outside compare to Barlow .

I'm not sure if that logic makes sense. Is Harbrow, Rischa, Rosa our future? Probably not. I think you just have to play your best 22 week in week out. If Barlow isn't best 22 then i understand but i don't want to just gift games because they are young.

Is Barlow in Best 22 on current form ? In my opinion he is not . Sometime you just need to role the dice rather than based on last season form as a guide . Who on current list can play Halfback better than Harbrow ? Is Rischa more complete player/versatile that Barlow ?

We haven't really seen Barlow if you don't want to go on last season. Apparently he's been killing it in the practice matches but that's not much to go by. I think he should be playing over someone like Macpherson. Other positions can be moved to make that work but the general idea is there.

Nailed it CB

At this stage we want to win as many games as possible. So I believe this is the best team considering conditions, opposition. While I love Barlow there was a reason why he was delisted. He's very very slow. Big handicap in today's game. I feel like people have trouble to separate Barlow as a fantastic person, character from his football skills. Just curious, who are a few selected worse than Barlow and we are talking about inside midfielders.

Barlows Very very slow hey?

Sam Mitchell says hello.

Doesnt matter how slow you are.. if you can read the game...
Run perfect patterns he will get to spots quicker then any 20yr old kid chasing the footy.

Barlow will have no problems averaging 20-25touches a game all season.

Theres only 1!!! Other player on our list who could do that..

Hall.

Sam Mitchell can kick both side so he don't need to turn or adjust to his prefer foot ,but i am ok if people think Barlow is better than
Macpherson.

I like to think they’ve got Mick on the slow burn, give him time to force his way into the side; give those playing midfield/ half-forward who’ve shown a bit through the first few matches (eg Bowes, Fiorini, Young) a chance to cement their places in the team knowing there is pressure to perform consistently or get pushed back to the twos. Mick in the twos provides a great leadership and learning opportunity for Brodie and the other youngsters. Something they wouldn’t have had much of in the past. He’s a great backup to have in reserve should we need him. The longer he remains in the twos, the better it is we’ll probably be traveling.

Tell it to Dew :) You forgot Lyons. Having Lyons playing well who is also not fast probably works against Barlow.

Spot on.

May be we could trust Dew who watched them closely over preseason.

It was telling when they asked Dew if Fiorini will play 22 games this year. His answer was it's essentially up to him. If any player performance drops or needs a rest we got very good depth this year. I can't wait for tomorrow. We will learn a whole lot more about our team. In the end, I don't care who plays, that's just my uneducated opinion. What makes me happy is when I see that every player plays his role, they are united and bring the effort like against North.

For mine, a very sensible team change of Hall for Rosa. Wtf is going on?

Rosa was a good choice last week in the wet but we can all see that he is getting slower (can still run out a game, just not very quickly). Hall I think earnt the immediate recall after a strong preseason and as 1 of our few genuine line-breakers.

It is great to see some pressure on selections. It is a weird feeling I know. Whether you are in the AFL or NEAFL team, have to keep performing and improving. Barlow sitting on the shelf, "break glass in case of a dud performance from midfield".

Would also expect game loads to be a bit higher for some players this year compared to last. It has been noticeable to most of us the intensity and 2-way running, and a couple are getting more run on the ball (Bowes especially).
I think are 5 youngest players in the team atm are Ainsworth, Bowes, Darcy, Fiorini, and Joyce. Would not be surprised to see some of those guys get a week off to manage loads.

Fiorini Lyons Swallow aren't part of our future either
It just depends how far along the x axis you want to travel
Barlow should be playing IMO but I understand why he isn't

Good question. We’ve never really had a run with player. If we do maybe Rischitelli

You're playing one man down if you try and tag Cripps. But as you said, GC don't really use a tagger, but go head to head. Carlton's midfield depth is shite once Cripps leaves the scene, so dominating there for inside 50s is what I'd expect to happen today. Would have thought Brodie would have been a chance today.
Suns by 25.
