Oh well s**t happens. They didn't turn up for he first qtr and were never going to get back I to it. Our better plays were decent but too many who didn't turn up and the usual suspects unfortunately.

Hopefully some of the younger guys who we expected to take a step and didnt get a kick up the ass they deserve and take that step next year. I can understand having a down year on output but not on effort and blokes like dow, Fisher and O'Brien were conditional on days when they put the required effort in.

This is really becoming a major issue under Teague so far.

Meh! It was ok. Nothing to get excited about. Standard drop punt from 45 out almost directly in front. Should be a gimme for any AFL player.

Ever the pessimist...

He's run 16km and nails a running goal from 45m in tough conditions. Super for a 19 year old kid.

A disappointing end to the season, i was really hoping for a strong performance to finish off the season and give confidence moving forward, didn't expect to win but expected it to be a lot closer. We were really handed a lesson by the Cats and to a degree by the Tigers and the Eagles, a very tough run home.

Not many positives to come out of tonight, a few obvious ones, Cripps, Walsh and Ed battled hard but overall we struggled.

A disappointing end to a rollercoaster season that had us staring down the barrel of another wooden spoon, i have been proud of the club since the change of coach and there is reason to be optimistic going forward, as a matter of urgency Harry and Dow need to pit through the ringer over the pre-season and need to be trained how to kick, its a serious concern going forward and one that i hope doesn't hold these two back.

One thing that amazes me is how come opposition HB always know curnow is going to do the around the corner hack kick when he is under pressure in a clearance but our HF don’t
No it is just our half forwards know its happening but no idea where its going.

Cripps, Murphy, Curnow, Walsh, Weitering, Newman etc should I go on?
yeah they played good too and i never said he was our best player. I thought he fought hard all night. we all made mistakes and the ball was coming in there pretty quickly...I just dont know what more our defenders could have done. considering how well they delivered the ball into f50.

Ed: the original poster said he was cooked by the way.

I agree with the original poster.

Without trying to draw the ire of Thy, was Cunners/Lob goal review as big of a balls up as i remember or am i just seeing it with my Blue tinted frames on? To me, it clearly hit LOB below his knee, so where was the issue?

Goal umpire called a goal, asked to check it hit below the knee, so he obviously saw it hit LOB, he was over ruled by the main umpire without any dialogue between the two. Did i miss something?

Watching Ablett be outdone a few times by our young guys brought a smile to my face! The fact that Hawkins was kept goalless by Weitering was impressive! We played four quarters of footy against the second team on the ladder and never gave up even though we easily could of stopped. I’m so proud of the boys always but especially after the final half of this season! Can’t wait for next year after an incredible pre season!
Tears streamed down my face as Daisy walked off, wish we could hold onto him for another season!

You really had to be there to believe how poor the conditions were. The wind totally changed direction in the quarter time break and continued to favour Geelong in the second quarter. The rain came down and it was not a great day to play footy (or watch footy).

We thought about leaving early, but when I was told off for clapping too loudly in a Geelong woman's ear, we decided to stay and clap (when appropriate) until the end of the game.

It was great to see Daisy chaired off. My daughter has declared she is never going to the cattery ever again so I hope the AFL decides we don't have to go there in 2020.

I thought we were wasteful and ineffective with the ball despite having the better of the Cats for significant parts of the game. It was the same old story of working hard but not putting the score on the board when we had our chances. Geelong, for the most part, took its chances even though the conditions were not conducive for quick snaps and marks in the forward half.

It was disappointing that we went home in the last quarter. The 3/4 time score of 14.6 to 6.13 (I’m still not sure why it wasn’t 7.12. Maybe someone can confirm it was touched by a Geelong player.) was a truer indication of the contest. The last quarter was disappointing but not reflective of our effort for three quarters. So as a reference point I would be looking at the stats to 3/4 time.

Losing Ed during the third quarter was a huge loss. At that stage he, Murph, Cripps and Kreuzer had been huge and their efforts had certainly carried a number of our younger players. That’s not a serious criticism of some of our young players just a reflection of their development and lack of experience.

Surely Weitering deserves a place in the All-Australian squad after his efforts this season. The weather helped but he kept Hawkins in his back pocket for the entire game.

Sam Walsh is a young marvel. His work rate is unbelievable for a first year player. On so many occasions this year the second half of his game is demonstrably better than his first half and today was no exception. He’ll be the Rising Star and should get a place in the AFLs U22 team.

I’m going to miss Daisy. I’ve been a strong supporter of his over the six seasons and he certainly is capable of continuing his career. It was a fitting send off today and thoroughly deserved.

It was a meaningless game before the ball was bounced, remains so after the final siren.

Looking forward to 2020 when the Blues will play finals football again.
Could also say the previous 10 games prior that we went 6-4 were also meaningless .
It was soft and conditional Carltons normal Rd 23 performance just highlights the soft underbelly this club still exhibits .
