Oldest sporting club in South Australia
Most successful club in Australia
6 Premierships in a row (Australian record)
Proudest club in Australia. (yes thats right)
- prove it's the oldest please.
- you're not the most succesfull team in Australia. I could easily find some club somewhere with more premriships
- Norwood did it in the SANFL as well. So you cant claim it as a record. Also, there would be someone somewhere with more consecutive.
-

umm correct me if im wrong, but wasnt collingwoods unbeaten season during or just after the war, where the league was in shambles? Essendon's 2000 season was at a time when the sport was more competitive and professional, which means it was a much greater achievment. End of story

Yet you still want to claim all of your VFL premierships before and after that point...

No wooden spoons... because every other club has at least one.

Here is the problem with teams that have joined the league formally known as the VFL. They don't want to count premierships but they do want to count spoons. Either teams can claim their VFL history or they can't. Make up your mind. If they can't then Essendon haven't won a spoon either!

The problem with you is that you obviously struggle to read... I was responding to one of your fellow Essendon supporters who tried to claim 2000 as the most succesfull season by a club, when it was pointed out to him that Collingwood had a more succesfull season he stated that it didnt really count because it was during the war....

Yet he wanted to count all of the clubs success in and around that era when talking about his clubs permierships.. Never did I comment or even insinuate that I cared about a VFL club claiming premierships/spoons..

its all there in black and white mate now settle yourself and take the time to read a post through before jumping to conclusions and soiling yourself.

Yeah cos those blokes have never been wrong before....

Well if your so much better than the AFL get back to the WAFL. VFL flags count as much as AFL flags as the VFL was the premier Football competition. Why did players like Malcom Blight leave Adelaide to play for North Melbourne you think?

And to the guy who said the Gold cup was from 1999, you shame your club and your football knowledge by saying that.

Fremantle has never beaten us in Queensland/home ground. Adelaide defeating Essendon in Melbourne last year makes it the only record of its kind remaining in the AFL.

Geez you blokes are keen to jump on the VFL premiership bandwagon aernt ya! I never said I think those premierships aernt warrented and should not be counted.. yet ive been quoted twice by idiots thinking I have!

The only club to have won 16 Grand Finals.

That's in spite of the Essendon fans in this thread claiming the record of being the only club to have 16 flags.

Zero spoons up until 2002 was a proud record when we've been in the competiton since it first started.

Nothing last forever.

Building ourselves up from a working class and initially struggling club into arguably the most succesfull club in the VFL/AFL.

We're silvertails and Collingwood, Richmond and Essendon are working class clubs.

Carlton were the first club to appoint a specialist non-playing head coach in 1906 - The First Of Many.

I believe Carlton were initially refused permission to join the VFL when we were the most successfull VFA club with 7 premierships.

Three more than Essendon.

The following fact which I only discovered in the last three days.
Believe it all you want....it aint true
