What about it?

next window is in about three years. You don't reckon we can target a key forward in that time or Wight or Lee might fulfill their potential.

Long game being played here.
Not Lee. Wight was good with both Roo and Stanley in the team. Hope you are right but your referral to us having Too still is irrelevant to our future premiership. The decision to trade Stanley is relevant to our future premiership.

Hickey and Longer may. Holmes may, Pierce may.

I really don't think Stanley is the player everyone is thinking he is.
He's the guy that kicked 1 goal each week, was one of the leading contested marks and overall marks in the comp, played the relieving ruckman with 8 hitouts each week.

Nothing more, he's no star… but we have no other player on the list that can do this at the moment, this may change.

Hickey, Longer, Piece & Holmes will never be able to do this. ^

Time will tell but I think on face value we have done very well here. Rhys has never really looked like fulfilling his potential. In his 6th year he was still getting dropped to VFL from the wooden spooners. Happy with the trade :thumbsu:

I can see both Hickey and Longer getting 20 - 25 hitouts each week, so we lose a goal a game for a bunch of extra hitouts? Meh.

Great deal for you guys in my opinion.

I wonder if this affects your appetite for a tall at pick 1 - or whether it better positions you to trade for a tall (Boyd?)?
Think we'll still take Petracca at 1 if we have the pick. Sorry :p

Rhys Stanley gets 21. Paddy Ryder will probably get 17.

Think about that.

Four more picks, for a 50 game "still-might-make-it" hope, compared with a 170 game undisputed gun, in basically the exact same position.

I think that trading Stanley is the best outcome in terms of having to lose a player. It wont hurt us as much as losing Armo or Jack IMO
Quite the contrary - it often takes years for players like Stanley to develop and it's very difficult to find a club willing to trade them once they've committed to all the hard work

Mids are much quicker to develop and as such they can be picked up in the draft and be finals ready within 3 or so years

Yes I agree with you totally. But for worth to the team and talent, IMO it is the best outcome if I had to choose to lose 1 of those 3.

Sad to see him go as I was a fan.
Maybe the best thing for his confidence a fresh start.
Good luck to him.

Considering north got 25 for greenwood,
You gotta be happy with 21.
