Pretty sure Fagan started the “barometer” talk in an interview, when asked about Mathieson.
You can hear the commentators getting worked up about it and it adds a little fun and excitement to the game especially when he crashes a pack and hands it off like he did to Rayner in the goal square . It can also get up the opposition's nose and if you want the opposition focused on anyone it would be Rhys , not so much our better players. It doesn't seem to detract from his performance.

There aren't enough personalities in the game , he's not carried away with it , uses it to fire himself up. Which he needs to to play well.

At times (like Robbo) he gets up his team mates noses as well. If you remember the Baker incident, Zorks told him several times to pull his head in and he ignored him. It was brought up in the review and discussed.

Ironic of Zorks to tell someone to pull their head in. He doesn't exactly lead by example on the field when it comes to antics.

It's almost like you haven't seen Starc play. He's super agile for his size and deceptively quick. He's played on the dangerous zippy forwards all year and hasn't been beaten. He'd almost be the best matchup for him in the competition right now.
Starc is an in betweener 188cm and 90 kg. perfect for a Dusty type. Starc can hold his position in marking contests against way bigger players but he can't chase and pressure guys like Bolton or Charlie Cameron. I'd be happier seeing Starc stand Riewoldt than starc standing Bolton.

I'd be great to see Fages put the wing up Bolton and start Mitch Robinson on him:):)

I don't think Robbo puts the wind up many opposition players any more. I think Bolton would be licking his lips should Robbo go to him just before the 1st bounce.
Answerth would be a good option to match up with Bolton when he comes to the forward line in my opinion. Answerth has the speed to keep up with him and the courage to put his body on the line in all situations.

Yeah was thinking Answerth too, has the tank to follow him up around the contest as well.

So it was one instance. As long as Matho has learnt to control his passion and use it to good effect ,which he seems to have of late ,then overall I think it's a positive.

At least the games are less boring with him playing.

The old "good for you" rebuttal.

Followed up by you appointing yourself the sole arbiter of objectivity .

On your definition of objectivity, you can look forward to having conversations with no-one but yourself
Far out! You were the one who accused me of being a troll and being a dis-loyal Lions supporter........or not even a supporter at all!!!!!!........why because I pointed out that Starc has limitations and IN MY OPINION is not the right match for Bolton. Why would you accuse me of being a troll when I'm trying to have a conversation about players strenghts and weaknesses.

Feel free to have YOUR OWN OPINION.........I will NEVER accuse you or anyone else of being a troll or disloyal to our club.

If you don't want to talk about my, and others thoughts.......then don't.

I agree Answerth is the most logical because he'd be solely focused on the job at hand. There's still a risk Bolton would carve him up. If Answerth can at least limit Bolton then you're not wasting a good player like Starc to do it and detract from the other things Starc does to help the team.

Absolutely, Starc is an excellent intercept and a better kick out of defence than Noah.

I didn't know Rankine was a tall forward in the Riewoldt kind. Could have sworn both Rankine and Bolton are extremely similar. Didn't he just shut down Rankine last week?

If Robbo goes on Bolton, Dimma will be laughing. At this point, hard to tell if you're trolling or just don't understand football very well.

Ease up a little.....everyone is entitled to an opinion.

Rankine is not as fast as Bolton. Not even close.

Agree, Bolton athletically more gifted plus runs through the midfield makes him a more difficult match up. Much like dusty, he can take a mid to the forward line and do some damage likewise a defender through the midfield. Consistency is Boltons issue, let’s hope he’s having an off day tomorrow.

I reckon the :):) gives it away. Not serious.

Agree but prefer his alt nick name "the shear force"

Fair enough, but Fagan definitely ran with it earlier this season in a couple of interviews.

I hadn’t seen it in the media before this.

This is from April last year.

"He's been emergency every week, so he's always with our group.

"He's always happy, he's always up and about.

"He's the barometer for us, him and Charlie (Cameron) together.

"His energy has been awesome."

Down to 5th after today's games. Big game tomorrow

Every game from here on in is big. When the dogs rolled melbourne last week a top 2 finish was back in our control. Win every week & we'll finish top 2. Only Collingwood could theoretically pass us, but they'd need to make up 20 percentage points which is hard to do for a team that likes to win by a goal or less.

A loss tomorrow once again takes our destiny out of our own hands.
