Lang also coming off a major ankle injury and just finding his way. Give him a chance. Some continuity may be all he needs

A chance? The bloke is just finishing his 6th year in the AFL system, has 60 games under his belt, has only once played more than 13 games, only once has he averaged more than 15 possessions (in his 10 game 2017) and is currently having his statistically worst season since his 1 game debut year.

In 3 past 3 years he has had 3 games where he has had more than 20 touches.

It isn't like he is inexperienced or we don't have a body of work to judge him on.

My bottom 3 players on form atm would be : Dow/Lang/DeLuca I excuse DeLuca because he is going as hard as he can and impacting well with defensive pressure and tackles after being out of AFL system for aa while now -clearly not a crumbing forward type though.....Dow is out of form big time and who knows if he just isn't physically shot after playing on ball for his first year and half ...this HFF stuff is a new caper for him on top of everything else...

Lang is the weird one for me - inexplicably poor execution of kicks and handballs and at the same time some crucial tackles, smothers leading to important goals....and then he seems more comfortable snapping at goal than taking some fairly easy set shots...Lang may just be very low on confidence - but he is playing better than previously - Teagues 'fresh start/clean sheet' position with all players may hve had big effect on a number of players...

Levi, Setterfield, SPS, Fisher, Gibbons, Kennedy have all lifted - the seniors Ed/Murph/Simpson and Thomas are playing to a higher standard under Teague...look at Phillips' performance given a go...I reckon Lang is playing beter and might actually spark up as his confidence grows if he feels to 'belong' - uo to him.
Agree with you, Teaugy effect is demonstrable across the board, players have refreshed and lifted.
I’d like Fasolo to have a shot next, I reckon can he contribute to a win comfortably , mature bodied , experienced and with a good nose for a goal.
Personally the surprise has been Kennedy, Matt has shown good footy IQ and a beautiful penetrating kick.
Just one more A grade midfielder and we’ll be playing finals next year with Teaugy at the helm.

Kennedy is a gun - bloke has been murdered on this forum by VFL watching 'expert commentary' who go silent when the 'plodder' kicks 6 goals in 2 games and stiffens up forward line defensive efforts. Fortunately Teague probably has a 'clue' about how to use player's talents to good effect.

Years not over. Injury was bad but still worked incredibly hard, kept himself very fit and has been extremely professional in everything he does. Just starting to perform and has been doing his role. I’m not writing him off yet

It'll be interesting to see how teague approaches this game, whether to go taller to match their height or to keep the team the same and beat them at ground level. much of that probably depends on the fitness of mitch mcgovern.

only sure change is fisher for dow. 4 touches in a game we dominated is doing nothing for his confidence and development. Get him in the VFL and let him play full time midfield.

Cripps, SPS, Fisher (if available) and Deluca all WA lads, bar Freo, these boys always look forward to doing well against the eagles.
This game is not a late season surprise win scenario. They would be seriously worried about the ramifications of a loss and injuries coming into the finals series.
I see the same process unfolding, they will try to blow us out of the water early and coast to victory with minimal effort but we will absorb , stay composed and go BANG.
They will obviously go to Cripps (and fail) meanwhile Flip feeding Murph, Setters and co.
The half back line will clog the corridor leaving them long kicks to a forward line patrolled by Weitering and Jones.
JSOS, Kennedy, Gibbons and DeLuca working their backsides off to keep it in our forward half.
Ed to work over their best midfielder, probably Gaff.
Cant see any reason why we cant win this one, it will be a stern test GO BLUES!

He has also been struggling with a knee. Effecting training and endurance. Playing forward has taken the pressure off.

TBH I think we would play finals next year with our list as is. Barring a bad run with injuries - if we pick up a decent mid and goal kicking pressure forward into our best 22, we can put pressure onto top 4.
Some may laugh at this, but if we had Teague coaching from season start I am confident we would already have 8-9 (minimum) wins at this point and have either made or just missed finals this year.
Therefore this prediction should be seen as less controversial than somebody saying at this point in last years season that the Lions would be a top 4 side.

I wouldn't be surprised to see O'Brien play a mostly defensive role this week against Hill. Would be interesting to see how he handles it.

Is Stocker a sneaky chance?

Good on him for trying to get the most out of his career, Nick Graham did the same thing and kept himself on a list longer than most thought he would but at the end of the day simply lacked the talent.

Going into next year if we had a 100% fully fit list Lang would be behind Fisher, Dow, Cunningham, Silvagni, Kennedy & Gibbons for that role before we get a Papley or Martin. If he can't start regularly getting above 10 possessions a game players like De Luca or Owies will likely pass him by as well.

I think we will see significant improvement but for it to be finals a number of things will need to happen. Kruezer Willo Docherty Marchbank Kennedy McGovern Charlie etc will need to mostly stay fit. We will also have to recruit a number of very good ready to go players

The difference between us and the Lions is they have a very good core of 24-28 year olds and the younger players are at the 75 game plus mark and are consistently contributing. I see them as around 18 months ahead of us

My issue is we are very reliant on Murphy Kruezer Thomas Simpson & Curnow (plus Cripps) and they aren't going to get any better. If anything they may start to go backwards especially on a consistent basis. The Lions only players over 30 are Martin & Hodge. That is significant

The key will be how quickly can Setterfield Dow Walsh McKay Charlie Dow SPS O'Brien Stocker Cuningham Fisher step up and be 4 quarter consistent footballers. The talent is there. It's just experience and time

Think McGovern needs to come in simply to play on his brother. If we don't bring him in, it will be McKay v Barrass and Hurn/McGovern v Casboult and the other is loose to intercept.

Talk is McGovern will be close this week. Looked so much fitter at the weekend and has apparently really worked hard on and off the field.

Taken his medicine and now more professional with a good attitude. Looks like this "break" has been a positive and we will see the player most of us expect.

I thought he worked very well up forward with DeLuca & Dow. Best forward pressure I have seen all year. Needs to do more but I've seen bits of improvement. Hope he can keep going. The more the better

Given the Eagles forwards feasted when North were exposed by lack of size down back could it be possible that Mitch plays at CHB this week in the same fashion as his brother ?

Wouldn't be a bad option. I like the way our forward line sets up at the moment and I'm not sure another tall is needed
