I'm not at all surprised we managed to arse out a win against a finals team at the end of the season when it no longer mattered, but I was fully expecting it to be Sydney or Brisbane.

In the gameday thread I said that I couldn’t see us finding the run to win unless we got the overlap. We got the overlap. Still can’t get my head around how we found it but wow, kudos to them for digging deep.

We went to another level in clearance work too and that is almost entirely on the work of Shiel. Awesome last qtr from him. You can stay Dyl. Don’t leave.

we can be happy we won, but also still mad at Brad Scott for selecting Menzie and making Davey the sub.

regardless of win, loss or draw, that was a much more encouraging performance, particularly for a fair bit of the third quarter even if it wasn't reflected on the scoreboard, and even some of the low-lights such as our disposals being smothered at key points and Cox being destroyed in those two marking contests aren't too concerning (smothers happen; if cox actually ends up down back full time, he will obviously have to bulk up a lot more).

Stringer being able to play all game in the forward line was good. I just assumed all those centre bounce appearances he's been making over the last few weeks were more just a reaction to us constantly needing something special.

It felt like a lot of our score-sources today were from clearance play as opposed from the turn-over game. unfortunately that's probably not something we can rely on going forward but it's obviously better than nothing at all.
