You mean Carlton vs the Umpires. When Weitering played on Franklin at Etihad last year, Buddy staged for a couple of appalling frees.
blaming the umps for a loss a week out from the game is new

If the name wasn't Weitering, would we not throw it up for consideration for him to have a stint in the VFL, sooner than re-jig things for him?

The 2015 #2 has gone back and is likely to go back again into the seconds, so why not the #1?
Maybe.

I didn't think #2 was ready to play last year but Brissy needed some good news stories. He was actually very good to start last year and fell away and seems to be struggling now. They should have treated himk like we are with H.

Nope.

Right now JW probably isn't ready to play FB, I can see him maybe getting a run there against teams with the weaker FFs but against the older, stronger bodies Rowe is better suited. But I'd still want him back there in place of Macreadie so he can gel with Plowman, Doc and Marchbank.

Macreadie will get his chance there's a lot to like about him but I think he has been given a bit of a run now, time to spend a few weeks in the two's.

So we should imo go with something like this for now:

Simpson Rowe Plowman

Weitering Marchbank Docherty
Ok.

Not sure we need Weitering down back, the others are learning to play together and seem to have a good understanding. Leaving him forward also allows another younger player (Macreadie or Williamson) to stay in the side. Move Weitering back and one of those has to make way which would be a step backwards.

Weitering will be learning while playing as a forward and is actually improving our structure and taking the pressure of Casboult and SOS so they cannot be constantly double teamed. Assume he is also providing some guidance to the forwards and helping them get organised. No shock the group has improved since he moved there as we have been lacking a leader down there for years now.

Overall the team is better with the current structure for now. Getting excited by the prospect of a forward line that includes McKay, Weitering and SOS. Three very different options for the midfield to pick from and harder for defences to match up on. Defence is very capable already and standing up as well as can be expected given the amount of ball coming in.

The only real concern for me is a midfield to link the two together.

The club knows where it's at and so do we. We do our best, get games into the kids, and tread water until the next trade and draft period, and most likely the same again next year.

We are not contending for finals this year.

As I see it, the plan is to get games into the kids, including Marchbank, Plowman and Macreadie down back. Based on this, Rowe stays back on the gorilla and the kids get the second, third and fourth forwards ... Docherty and whoever (before Byrne comes back) helps out with run out of the backline ...

Weitering is a gun player, or will become one. I am convinced he is injured or very sore. Even with the poor delivery on Friday night, he struggled to make a contest of it ...

IMO, our forward line is looking a little better with Weitering in it. Casboult, Charlie and Jack with Pickett too (and hopefully Wright can recapture some form), they have the potential to cause the opposition defenders trouble. Was so exciting when Weitering did so well on Rance round 1 ...

I cannot wait to see McKay play, his work rate is good for a young tall and he has the height to trouble defenders. I think there might be a team balance issue in bringing him in ... he doesn't ruck (and definitely should not), and so Casboult stays to play forward and second ruck and Weitering would go back. Perhaps it works if Macreadie needs a rest or if we push Plowman up the ground ...

Looking at the VFL, there are no small forwards playing to put pressure on Pickett or Wright ... Le Bois, Lamb and Sumner all did not play and a Gallucci had a poor one against Williamstown. Perhaps Polson stays forward if Pickett is to get a run in the VFL.

While our midfield keeps getting smashed, it is really an academic discussion on where Weitering plays. If he is playing hurt as I suspect, perhaps it's better he plays forward.

We lack depth of midfield class.

If I was to pick our strongest potential team this week..

Bring in Graham for Wright. 0 goals for 3 weeks and doesn't contribute enough elsewhere.

Cuningham in for Pickett. Same as above.

Smedts for Polson. Offers a bit more at this stage.

Kruezer in for Phillips

Jacksch in for Weitering. Only due to Weitering looking ready for a break.

Possibly Jones for Macreadie as an option to play on buddy..

Plowman Rowe White
Cuningham Marchbank Simpson
Murphy Cripps williamson
Silvagni Casboult Charlie
SPS Jacksch Smedts

Kruezer Gibbs Docherty

Fisher Graham Jones Ed

Side note: how much of a gun is Williamson! Averaging 16 disposals a game for a bloke who could virtually still be playing TAC cup. If recall correctly, the only knock on him pre-draft was his low possession count? Seems to have already put that one to bed.

I mostly agree with this except the playing KJ and Jones.

I would drop Wright for Graham

Macreadie for Cunners and play Weitering down back.

I'd keep Pickett in for one more week because I genuinely think he's close to making an impact.

I agree Smedts for Polson though I wouldn't be upset to see Polson play another week.

Actually I'd have Smedts before Simon White.

Omit White, send Weiters back. Play another medium or small forward.

Think your right with the comment about where weitering plays or any of our KPP for that matter . Our main issues start and end in the midfield until that issue is resolved at times we will see similar thumpings such as the one against Port no matter where weits plays .
