Walls is an a55hole. He is completely biased against the Crows - every year he puts them in the bottom 8, and whenever they are behind in a game he is scathing beyond belief.

He keeps calling Goodwin 'Andy Goodwin' as well.

I first noticed his bias in a game against Essendon a couple of years ago, it was some of the worst commentating I have ever heard in a close game.

Today, yes, the Crows weren't playing that well, but he could barely find a positive but couldn't say enough about the Saints.

Get out of the commentary box if you can't commentate, you stupid old failure.

I was more annoyed with the Crows who made Wall's bias seem like football knowledge.

Shut him up for most of the last quarter though - which was the only reasonable part of the match.

That was really p*ssing me off as well. He loves to bag us and for 3 quarters we made him look like a great judge.

The tool picked us for 16th two years ago.

And Picked us to miss the finals this year.

For a bloke that has played and coached a lot of footy he know SFA.

I remember his biggest backflip of all time. In that final against Melbourne Neitz was causing troulbe and gave headaches to both Bassett and Smart. We move Biglands on Neitz and Wallsy went on to brag about how that move was bad for some 5 minutes. Biglands did a fantastic job on Neitz and kept him completely quiet while winning a lot of tapout in our defence and getting a fair bit of the footy.

Wallsy does a backflip and says that playing a ruckman on Neitz is a fnatastic idea and went on to point all the good things that Biglands is doing. What can you do but roll your eyes on that one:rolleyes:

Thanks for starting this thread. I thought Walls was in the Saints coaching box and cheer squad from his "commentary". I think he took until the 3rd quarter to even mention any Adelaide player by name and then came out with Andy Goodwin! Objectivity is obviously not in his dictionary.

IMO Walls is not anti Adelaide Crows, more he is anti Gary Ayres.
I would suggest it has something to do with their playing days, with him CHF, and Ayres a defender.
If you listen to him speak on Adelaide, or coaches, or gameplans, its obvious he has a bias against our coach.

Thank god for the 5AA's live broadcast:D
EXACTLY!! You guys crap on about biased commentary! Put on the radio and listen to the non stop crows dribble! Not used to a national broadcast are ya? Next thing you'll want an all SA commentary team on TV! You can't have everything guys.

What about his stellar attack on the goal umpire when there was that furore over the 'was it a goal/was it a nine-pointer/did it hit the post' Gallagher shot?

Walls: "The goal-umpire was in the field of play! He shouldn't have been on the field... get off the field you....!"

Memo to Robert Walls, when the ball is bouncing goal umpires have straddled the goal-line (thus having a foot in the field of play) since time immemorial.

You are right that 5AA is biased towards SA sides because they broadcast to the SA public.

TV is completely different cattle of fish all together. You cannot seriously say that Walls doesn't put the Crows down. When he covers our games he puts us down. Whether we win lose or draw he will find something to bag us about. The guy hates out guts.

5AA don't shy from the fact that they are SA biased because thats their market. You will even find that 5AA tone it down when they are on the relay to other stations around the counrty.

TV commentary should be neutral. Radio broadcast that goes only to a particular state can be biased. I see nothing wrong with that.

Because he brought Richmond here in 1997 and we sent him to the dole-queue and his career to the scrapheap with a 5000 point pounding.

I am just re-watching the game and that thing happened a couple of minutes ago. He was, well Walls. He just keeps on bagging everything the Crows do.

To be honest his football knowledge as a special comments man is not up to it. Give me Gary Lyon any time.

BTW, it was Reilly who kicked that weird goal:p

Yep great post. I don't know whether he hates you guys or not, but watching today's game again I haven't picked out any stand out negative comments from him. I guess you would notice it if it was your own team.
Your right about 5AA. 3AW is total equality in broadcasting. 5AA are only broadcast in SA hence the bias. I do notice the "tone down" when they go national, but still it isn't professional enough commentary for a national audience. It just irks me how you never hear anything about the other team.
Again top post. I was waiting for a backlash!

The comment that ****ed me off the most was the one at 3/4 time where he stated that St Kilda were a young team on the rise and he inferred we were an old team on the decline. He didnt mention the crows name, but then he didnt need to.

I really don't like him much or that Hudson guy who is also a blatantly obvious twit. Remeber the Colliwobble pre lim anyone?

Robert Walls is a goose. I can't stand listening to him and he definitely has a bias against the Crows. He loves to put us down - unfortunately we gave him plenty of ammunition against the Saints.

I agree with Stiffy - give me Garry Lyon any day.

It was most obvious to me in teh Welsh- Hudgton clash

both players were running towards the ball on an angle nad both gutsily went in for it with Welsh taking the mark. If anything Maxy dropped his head to early but it was great by both players

Walls just crapped on about how gutsy Maxy was and didn't mention Welsh at all

Walls is a tool.

So are the knobs at 5AA who continue to have him on their program.

Not that the Crows did much for Wallsy to compliment mind you.

Robert Walls has nothing on Terry Wallace as far as Adelaide bashing in the commentary box goes.

Funny how the two men share a vested interest in slagging the Adelaide Football Club when all we did was ruin their hopes and dreams.

1997 was a fantastic year for that sort of thing.

And guess who has left Adelaide out of their final eight - what a surprise.
The more Victorian "experts" that leave us out of the eight the better! I tend to worry when they pick us as one of the favourites for the flag as we always seem to end up having worse than expected years.

We hate Walls too

Don't worry croweaters we can't stand Walls The Wa*ker in WA either. And I bet they hate him in Brisbane too.

I noticed last year when Brisbane were losing a few that he began putting the boot into some of their players such as Daryl White.

The Knob head isn't anywhere near the same league as Leigh Mathews. And I bet a lot of those Lions players he coached detest the pr*ck.

You can tell from the comments on Australian Footy Board today that we are all becoming a bit more sophiticated in our approach to our footy. THE DAYS OF 'OVERLY' BIASED COMMENTATORS ARE COMING TO AN END.

who listens to the TV commentators???

certainly not me. I turn on 5AA and unless Russell Ebert is crapping on (in which case on goes TripleM) - they support the Crows.

k
