I don't see the need to draft a mature age VFL midfielder in this rookie draft considering we will have Anthony, Greenwood, Jacobs, McKenzie, Hine etc on the fringes of the 22 already.

I reckon we get a back up KPD and a real project type, someone with excellent attributes who has been curtailed by injury or by opportunity.

anyone think we could maybe go after willy rioli and see if we can get him to sort his body shape out?

extremely talented and with Nahas coming on board we already have immediate cover around the sticks if someone say Lindsay thomas went down with an injury which would allow willy to soley concentrate on his fitness next year before worrying about trying to play in the 1s

Marsh at 78 is a bargain no matter which way you put it, players with his height and athleticism don't grow on trees, id take him at pick 47 happily (Nothing against brown, making a point) His a tall forward who tested the fastest in the 20 metre sprint, he can turn his opponent inside out without trying. He may be nothing in a few years but if he works on things he needs to and really get in the right spots, I have no doubt whatsoever he will be a gun. Anyway f$&@ Marsh, if his not in blue and white he can scum up the place with all the rest of them over there.

AK was also a 192cm guy who was the fastest over 20m in his draft year.
Great kicking skills.
Excellent agility.
Delisted this year.

Marsh is so low in the order because he hasn't shown that he can play football consistently. IN VFL/Juniors you can use athleticism to get you somewhere, but not in the AFL; you need footy nous - and that's why Marsh has dropped.

Yeah that is a pretty good reasoning, but then again. If karmichael hunt can find some footy nous

Similar height and speed to our very own Ayden Kennedy

No. He can sort out his body weight on his own. We aren't the Biggest Loser.

Very good point you make. I'm not going to post about Marsh anymore, his hogging up our very own Brown and Dumont's air time. This is a case of wait and see.

Bourke stands out to me, very surprised he wasn't picked up. Quality user, good size, great mover & carrier, top shelf mark for a 6'2" mid.

If we want another KPD Sully has to be it IMO, reads the play very well & strong 1 on 1. Little bit of Scooter in him I reckon.
Versatile small should be Cavarra, Wilson or Battersby

Miller or Templeton would also be great pick ups. I just hope we don't pick another ruck / tall forward.

Better delist Mitch Wilkins and Sam Wright then. We're not Golds Gym.

Spot on. Just cos he is a little over weight he's given no chance but there's a number of people wanting Templeton who is below 70kgs. Both have weight issues. Just more unconventional to take someone who has to lose weight rather than gain it. The kid could be anything and like I said with Nahas on board as well I think it wouldn't be so bad to pick him up with a late rookie pick

Underweight is usually due to the age and development stage of a certain player.

Overweight is usually due to a lack of professionalism/hard work/discipline/attitude/etc.

I don't know anything about Rioli, but I'd go with the more professional kid.

Slightly oerweight or a bit tubby is a better problem to have, especially if the skillset is is there. They have trainers and nutritionist who can give them the tools they need to transform at a quicker rate then you or I. So it comes down to determination I guess. Rioli would be able to produce lean mass at a quicker rate, so whos better or jas more x factor? temp or Rioli?

Agree. The kid might be prone to putting on weight and not living a professional lifestyle. Doesn't mean he can't address it. Good luck with the 3 years of protein shakes and chicken and rice just to get Templeton up to AFL spec.

Nathan Thompson and Byron Pickett are players i'm aware of having (over)weight issues early in their careers. Turned out ok for both especially the Chopster.
