Good end to the game, though Brisbane were down a rotation the whole game so you'd hope they'd have more legs. Steven is a star, looks like back to 14/15/16 form. Acres also excellent, he should be our goal kicking coach.

Paddy unfortunately looks a fair way off it still. You can expect him to be given a run of games, which is a good call, but it'll be interesting to see how long we persist. Longer also looked underdone, Martin was all over him. Hope he will get better as the season progresses.

No mention of it on the TV but Steele reamed Zorko - Stuv was immense and the Goat and Billings were great. Hope they stick with Longy. Looking forward to seeing them in person next week

Positives and negatives of the game will be dissected to death in this thread, but just want to say I’m glad we got over the line and our vanilla midfield could pull off a very vanilla stat line like this. Exciting potential!

but the big take away for mine is dont think we can afford to play paddy until he can compete for a full game, especially when he doesnt have the ball. i also dont like rucking bruce. we have to bring in marshall IMO

Our big issue is we rush things too much. I think this is due to us having a "play on fast" mentality which can work really well when you have that player support, running down the middle etc.., but the players apply it to the wrong situations and just cough up the footy. This is also causes us to bomb it in far too much. During that first quarter we lowered our eyes and the results showed. Far too much bombing later on which the coaches need to really push on.

Brisbane played much better then a spoon team.

Feels like Lion's won that game but we got the 4 points, thats what it matters the most. Steven is clearly our best player, hes got good support from Ross & Armitage. Acres announced himself today, absolute GUN. Billings, Gresham did their job as well. It should boost our confidence this win but hopefully Clark isn't dropped!

Great to get the win. But some questions have been raised. I don’t think relying on scoring from turnovers will work against the better teams. And losing clearances by that much doesn’t feel good when what we’re supposed to lacking is outside users, not insiders.

But not to be too negative, Goat was magnificent, Steven is at his best, Gresham has picked up where he left off, and we roughed it out despite it not going our way for roughly a half.

First game of the year so I'll let it slide a little but clearance work is still a major concern.

Good spirit shown and we won it the hard way. Only real negatives was our ball movement that 2nd term and Longer getting thrashed.

Steven and Acres excellent, Membrey outstanding just unusually couldn’t convert.

Long had some big moments, chases and hits the contest very hard which explains why Richo is a fan.

3 Votes Jack Steven, he was the difference between winning and losing. Steven at his best is the difference for us.
2 Votes Jack Billings, had a blinder to quarter time, showed effort and ability all game. Kicking straight is a must.
1 Vote Acres, I'm biased towards the forward half of the ground, but he was incredible.

Paddy was poor. Yeah I get he needs time on the ground but he was poor. Poor decision making and made almost no effort all day.

Carlisle looked big, he's a tough rig. Marks just stick when the ball comes near him, sticky hands.
Bruce has been missing for way too long, he makes the effort but he just can't mark a ball.
Don't know about our Rucks.

Despite my annoyances I can't see how Weller or Gilbert can get back into the team yet. Our defenders were pretty good mostly.

Ross had 7 tackles, Geary had 1. Geary was poor all game and he really needs to lay more tackles. His decision making was poor at times, and felt like he was making up the numbers rather than leading on field.

Bit harsh after one game but Sinclair just looked very average today. Hunter Clark is a great user of the footy, very happy with him in the team.

Clark across half back looks like a marriage. Long much better as the game went. He just needs to back and compose himself which will come in time.

Billings standout. Acres great, coming of age.

Membrey + Bruce forward line won us the game when McCartin was off.. that was a stinker of a game by Pad. He looks miles off fitness wise unfortunately.. cannot get to contests and simply goes to ground every time. That injury in pre season effecting him more than we were lead on.
