If he is needed and plays well and helps us win then I'd say it's a good decision.
Are we really that screwed with injuries that we don’t have a better option then a first gamer as an injury sub?

Sharman/Long/Joyce are all options here.

He is only going to get one first game. Here have your jumper presentation. Now sit on the pine for most likely the whole game.

Although we haven't seen it yet, Hayes is meant to have really good hands. Hoping he can provide a good marking target forward tonight. If King ends up being the only serious key forward aerial threat I fear the forwardline will struggle
We have one of the most talented forward lines running around - for sure King is our main target but Membery is a proven performer and a very good mark add on the little guy Higgins who can take a contested mark and don't write off Wood because that is one thing he can do is mark , add on Marshall lurking around the 50m arch and they are in for a world of hurt in my opinion.
Anything that hits the deck Butler , Kent and Gresham will be lurking.

Uncle JPB has told me Nicky is doing a jumper presentation at a past players before tonight’s game.. take that as you will.

FYI- JBP isn’t there but you’d assume he’d get the right info.

Go saints! Been a long off season. Let’s get the show on the road

My only concern is that out of the smalls. Only Butler is really a threat for the opposition when they try to bring it out.

That’s an area the rest need to lift in.

Starting to get a bit nervous as the game tonight approaches, there are a lot of unknowns about how we will go with it being the first game of the season and with us having a different mix of players, Collingwood is an unknown quantity too with them having a new coach and a new game plan.

We might be favourites but I don't expect it will be an easy win for us if we do win, Collingwood still have enough quality players to challenge us.

Yeah we will need both Hayes and Marshall to provide a marking target up forward along with Membrey chipping in to help take the heat off King, as good as he is he can't carry the forward line on his own and if we just bomb it to him every time he will get swarmed on and easier to shut down.

Perhaps he is the best options for a sub

Won't be. I'm allowed to disagree with the Kent decision or him ever playing in Saints colours.

Of course you are, you're just way over the top with it. If you can't tone it down I'll just remove you from posting. I'm not sitting through another year of it and exaggerated criticism of players and the club isn't allowed anyway. Check the rules and tone it down, cheers

G'day all, back for another season. Bloody nervous about tonight, hoping we don't lay another egg in a primetime spot.

Thinking if we break even in the middle we should have the firepower to get us home.

Maybe wait until he is ready to play and give him a proper debut.

If he's the best option as sub then he should play it the most important thing is winning the game I'm sure if he gets a win and standing in the middle singing the song he'll be stoked.

I'll be watching the wood-duck with interest tonight. It is duck season, so it's a worry.

Wow.

You guys need to lighten up a bit. It's the first game of the year. Should be full of optimism and hope.

At least give it until round five before unloading the doom and gloom.

We will win tonight and win well. No flat spots. Full four quarter performance.

I'm actually excited. I like the look of a backline this season. The chemistry would have grown last year and with Paton back it should be a solid back 7.
Keen to see King improve on his back end from last season, was probably up there with one of the better forward's in the comp based on the last few rounds of the season. The midfield is obvious worry, but Collingwood's don't look that strong from previous years either. Also good luck to the new boys too.

That's the reason Kent has been selected and Wood has shown he puts in defensively as well - the coaching department has put together the best combination they have - Sharman most probably missed out because of it.

Haha I forgot how dictated this board is. I'm showing displeasure in Kent over Sharman. Relax a little

Nah, just follow the rules. It's not hard. Criticism is fine, but you do it continuously and it's over the top. One or two posts is fine, we have a bit of leniency, but you did it all last season and you're doing it again, so stop it. Cheers.

Pick your best 23 players. If it turns out the 23rd player is a debutant than it's just bad luck. We may need him 2 minutes in.

I hate the injury sub but I'd be willing to bet NWM will rather have that than sitting in the stands.

Fair chance he gets game time going off our last 12 months

Owens to Daicos 1st half to show junior how a first year player is supposed to perform, then moved into the centre square after Daicos is dragged. Saints by 23pt GO SAINTS:stkilda:
