I really want to see Fyfe and Tucker fit for this, would mean we're putting IMO our best possible team on the park Round 1.

Ryan, Pearce, Logue
Young, Cox, Clark
Tucker, Fyfe, Henry
Freddy, Lobb, Switta
Walters, Tabs, Schultz

Darcy, Brayshaw, Serong

Colyer, Chapman, Brodie, Mundy

Sub: Crowden

.

Too me only two talls in the forward line just doesn’t feel right unless we have two lead up medium types ie Sturt, Freddie, both of which supply pressure.

Having 3 small forwards in the forwards is also 1 too many.

I would put Treacy or Sturt into the Schultz spot, and push Shultz to the emergency list, as Colyer can play fwd or on the wing so in more versatile off the bench.

Both Treacy and Sturt have shown they are a class about WAFL level, and should if fit be in the best 22.

Also pretty sure Acres will play if Tucker is Tuckered out!

What about The forgotten men of the freo shockers:
In my opinion:
Aish is better than Acres
Sturt is better than Colyer
Treacy is better than banfield
Tucker is better than Henry
Hamling is better than Cox.
Walker is better than Wilson.
Atm
Colyer over Sturt
Cox over hamling (he’s played one game in too years)
Wilson is still better then Walker (just)

Sturt is back training so hopefully we will see him soon. Same for Treacy! Desperately need them.

How would you structure them into our likely round 1 forward line?

For me it would mean;

FF; Walters Taberner Lobb
Sturt Treacy Frederick

+ running another small forward (Switkowski) who may rotate midfield from the bench.

Sturt needs to put in a solid block of games/praccies before he comes into the side - I wouldn’t expect to see him before round 5 all things being equal.

Treacy is closer, but seems unlikely for round 1. I think we’re a better team with him in.

i'm thinking another body that can't cut AFL, we've been good at selecting them over the recent years
It would be a worry if our entire game revolved around Sturt, but Amiss and Erasmus could debut in the same role.

And this time last year we would have read posts suggesting Pearce and Hamling were gone.

Plenty of shots in yesterday’s gallery with Tucker looking to be back in full training, making selections even more interesting.

Amiss is the first top draft pick forward we have picked since Apeness, apart from Sturt with pick 17.
That has been the problem. Our best key forward is a rookie

Yeah round 5 for Sturt sounds like a good time frame to get up to fitness and prove his body can hold up

I don't think we will select Treacy Rd1 unfortunately but he should be pushing for selection in Rd2.

Tucker I think will be in the same boat, he will come in for whoever doesn't perform in Rd1.

That would be one of the strongest fowardlines we have put out in a long time! If we can get games into that forward setup and add Amiss at the end of the season we are going places!

Injury sub perhaps?

For some reason people always laugh about a pick like Paddy McCartin or Tom Boyd much more than a pick like Jono O'Rourke. yet to me O'Rourke is the bigger failure. As games are still mostly won in the midfield and midfielders are more of a known entity, if you go midfield there shouldn't really be as much risk of burning a prized early pick as going KPF. I don't think we're alone in that thinking.
If Tabs was taken at pick 12 instead of a rookie, he would be the same player. The only thing different would be the opportunity cost of who we could have taken at pick 12 instead.

Right now we need to hunt forward talent for sure. But nothing wrong with being a rookie. Pav could have been taken as a rookie couldn't he? Everyone passed because he was chubby.

Overlooked in 98, Pick 4 the following year. Crazy (yes he was super young, a different era of drafting etc etc - history could have been very different though).

Sturt has been on the list 4 years, and played 4 games
Drafted in 2018 - so really has been available for 3 seasons. It was clear from the time he was drafted he was not going to play 2019, so really has been 'available' for selection for 2 years. Had a meniscal repair so playing it safe last year was needed and will improve his knees long term viability. Has massive upside.
