AFLW 2024 - Round 10 - Chat, game threads, injury lists, team lineups and more.
Funny how most of the "hype" about Fyfe is coming from the eastern states, where little attention seems to be given to WA players? Might have something to do with their recognition of the talent they have witnessed already in his AFL performances? Around BF, the only poster I've witness that doesn't rate Fyfe is you. Probably more to do with envy than any real or balanced assessment of Fyfe's proven abilities.
Clearly Pitt is still a work in progress and taken longer to develop than others. There is little doubt he has talent and it is way too early to write him off. Probably a bit like Sheppard hey, considering he is not in your best 22 ATM.
Palmer won a Rising Star (one would suggest that this quite rightly attracts a certain level of hype), did his knee and then went missing for a season. In case you didn't know he longer plays for Freo and that first round compensation pick Freo received sure looks at this stage like the better outcome. Time will tell.
...only if we can remind you of the 2009 draft:
Brad Sheppard - Pick 7 West Coast
Nathan Fyfe - Pick 20 Fremantle
This'll be a great test for our midfield.
We should have them covered in all other areas of the ground.
Precision passing is obviously the ideal, but it's not always that easy. Clearly Clarke can clunk em, but so can Lycett, and I wouldn't be pinning too many of our hopes on him. Hams is also a very good overhead grab, but that doesn't mean i'd call it aerial prowess. I guess i shouldn't have used the word 'ability', but rather 'strength'.De boer who will probably go defensive on hurn, for his height (188cm) is extremely strong mark overhead.
There will be a resting ruck up forward,Clarke can clunk'em,just has to do it consistently.
So mix both of those in with Pav and mayne and there is aerial ability up front.
Any how we don't want to be bombing it in and give the eagles back six a chance to team spoil.
Precision passing into the forward 50 is the go don't you think?
Maybe. Not even close on Defenders. First string you might have the edge but thats depleted by your shithouse 2nd stringers and our rucks are quite an upgrade on yours.
Yep he copped a knock and then came straight back on and dominated the last quarter in the same way he dominated the other 3 quarters. His shoulder has been surgerically altered to prevent it from dislocating and it would be virtually impossible for him to suffer a dislocation from a hit during a football game.
You forget Mundy and Barlow who get plenty of clearances for Freo, plus Danyl Pearce who is probably more dangerous that Hill in terms of run, carry and long & accurate kicking into the forward line.
I couldnt care for a single stat that would have a Fremantle defender in place of a West Coast one. Only McPharlin would get a look in. Nobody wants the rest of that trash.Interesting that our defence was second only to Sydney last year. Only change in the defensive set-up this year is McPhee.
Tunbridge is not a mid . in fact , Bennell is the only rookie listed player we have that could be considered a mid... dont expect anyone will be upgradedAnyone feel Turnbridge may be elevated for Nicoski due to us having 3>4 mids unavailable?

So how do you cope with freo having a better defense last year than west coast? Must be something more to it then...like a game plan that works.

Less points conceded can be deceiving. You could of clogged the defence up with midfielders. Considering how poor Freo were in attack that is probably what happened.
He was in the AA team.Mcpharlin is an amazing player btw mind you and could just have easily been AA last year instead of glass.
There's no point causing arguments but your team's gameplan was much more defensively focussed. In one on one defensive situations like most other eagles supporters im fairly sure only mcpharlin would crack our back six. Mcpharlin is an amazing player btw mind you and could just have easily been AA last year instead of glass.
I think you are being narrow minded. Duffield is statistically classed as an elite player and Johnson's form in 2012 was outstanding and by many reports close to selection in the AA squad. Trying to be unbiased, if I was selecting a backline from players available from both teams, it would be:
Johnson Glass Hurn
Duffield McPharlin Waters
It's a dead-set 50:50 game;both sets of supporters are fairly justified in making a case for their team.I'll be there, hope there are no serious injuries to anyone and am anticipating a cracker game and testament to the strength of West Aussie footy.Geez freo fans are getting ahead of themselves. Really setting themselves up for failure...in a typical freo fan fashion.
good to see that Mckenzie wants to tackle Pav after he got touched up last game expecting a bettter contest this time.. ..
Sure is
