Game Day Round 1: North Melbourne Kangaroos vs Adelaide Crows @ Etihad Stadium

People tend to overrate the teams in Melbourne quite a bit.. I mean Richmond & North? Haha, No.. Just average teams.
I'd be very disappointed if we lost tonight.

We should have to much skill and polish against that bland north side.

That's pretty well how I see it. I'm not sure that we wouldn't have made a prelim if we'd gotten Sydney given their lead in.
True.
Not being cocky but we have shown that we're a better side than North and Richmomd last year. We completely dominated both teams once against each other. Can it happen again? Who knows, but one things for sure, the club will be ready.

One thing I don't want to see is a 4 goal head start to North.

Wooooo! Game day is here! Finally, the real football stuff begins. Even so, 6:55pm tonight seems so far away right now. Can someone knock me out, and wake me up once it gets underway? Excited to see how we go tonight, especially the newbies in Milera, McGovern & Seedsman and how they fit in with the old guard.

6:55pm? Where you live bro? Telecast starts 6:30pm Adelaide and regional.

I was stupidly going by game start time, not telecast start time. And it's chick, not bro.

Like the priest above I am excited about this game but more excited to see the new guys and how they go.

I will always say the Crows can win and this is a game we can win. I also think its a very important game in the way the year will go. Win and we can go 2-2 at worst. Lose and we look to be 1-3 and chasing. I think North Melbourne are a good side , my concern always with North is how dysfunctional they will be. Like the little girl with the curl right in the middle of her forehead . When they are good they are very very good when they are bad they are horrid.

Please be horrid North :p

2013 game where Petrenko kicked the winner. Tex was injured.
Sorry, didn't realise we played them round one in 2013 too. Douglas was very good in the Petrenko game.

In pumped like everyone on here

B. Crouch, Shooter, Rat and Junior are wonderful additions. Add the talents of Tex, Betts, Sloane, Douglas, Seedsman, Lynch and Smith with the competitiveness of M. Crouch, Thimpson, Laird, Brown an Talia and we have the ingredients for a round 1 win

Over to Pyke to turn the ingredients into a successful recipe

Cameron, Knight and Menzel the missing long term ingredients
When you look thru all the players we do have a lot of talented players .....some with that real "x" factor

I'm in the camp where i believe we're actually better off post Dangerfield .....albeit he;s a great player .....but the game is played with 22 players not one, and the fact is one player doesn't compensate for a broad cross section of good players and the right gameplan

Off to the game tonight ......very excited to see what we dish up & quietly confident

Will be interesting to see who actually lines up in the centre for the first bounce - and then what is our most common 4 thought out the match. Might try to keep tabs on it

A couple of "experts" believing North a possibility to miss the 8 ......as always injuries during the season will play a huge factor

Which brings me to another pet peeve ...... So Hawthorn loses Lake, Roughead, Brad Hill, and Shiels, and all the experts say "business as usual" ...flag favorite ......gee they're some pretty good players

Crows lose one player and we're predicted to drop from 6th to 13th .......WTF

Can someone explain the logic ......as they say Hawthorns system allows them to cover players ......but obviously our system is dependant on one player

I really have no take on how we'll play. I keep looking at the fixture and thinking faaark, what a first 8 weeks. Would feel better if I had seen Brouch in the main team at least once. Am sure he'll fit in fine, but still...

Also I pretty much like everyone have undervalued North over the past few years.

I like the selections, perhaps because I don't dislike Cheney as much as everyone, or think Hartigan has become as good as everyone seems to think.

VB and DMack? Well sure, but once CC, Knight, Hampton are fully fit and Menzel fit enough, I suspect they're be some shifts around that see them pushed out. Lyons unlucky, but it shows that there sure as sh*t is pressure on players to perform because there is a nice lot of players good enough to replace them.

Of course I want and think we can win, but for some reason I am more excited by seeing the Crouch boys, and Milera play.
Can perfectly understand that ;) ........it's also why iam excited by attending todays game

I'm in the camp who I think our gameplan will be better without Danger. - and hopefully it in the end it leads to us being a better team.

So, I am having a drinking game tonight, two litre bottles of Grey Goose and a shot glass. I will down a shot every time they say "Dangerfield" during the broadcast. I fear I will not have enough Vodka to last the game and think my first chuck might occur during the Vic commentators discussion of the Crows 22 pre game where I may have to knock back 10 shots in a minute

This is why we haven't selected Lyons I'm pretty sure. Our midfield is treacle slow and pig lazy defensively with Thommo, Mrouch and Lyons all together. He's probably destined to be Thommo cover until the latter retires
All the Melbourne experts believe Dangerfield was all offense and chose not to work hard defensively .....speed over the ground will allow us to get to the ball carrier quickly and apply pressure .....but todays result does depend on our midfields 2-way running capability

Best bet .....you won't last past qtr time .....hell the game preview may do you in ;)

Have said we even now have a better midfield than West Coast ......and they played off in the GF

Does anyone think McGovern could be our version of Jack Darling ?

I think this deserves its own thread. No offence Drugs Are Bad Mackay? but this could top your goal kicking game. The winner gets to post with immunity for a week and can't be on anyone's ignore list.

My bet is by the 23rd minute mark of the third qtr you will be done.

To ensure the integrity of the comp you need to set up a webcam Jumbo.

are you fired up chief? and ready for a big season, will the Crows go deep into the September action - what's your call?

The logic is that Dangerfield was such a player that without him we would not have made the finals last year and with him Geelong would have played in the GF!!.....and likewise this year!

Pity we didn't gain anything from the Dangerfield trade as the so called experts would have you think. This just shows how little the Melbourne media know or even care about the interstate teams and their developement over the pre-season. They are totally out of touch.
