Couldnt see anything like this yet, so thought 'what the hell!'
Port Adelaide have started off the year with a strong pre-season, once again we have gone into this year with predictions of anything from a Wooden Spoon, to a Top Four finish.
2010 Changes:
Ins
John Butcher (National Draft - Pick #8)
Andrew Moore (National Draft - Pick #9)
Jasper Pittard (National Draft - Pick #16)
Jay Nash (traded from Essendon)
Jay Schulz (traded from Richmond)
Daniel Bass (Pre-selected rookie as per AFL's non-registered players rule)
Scott Harding (Pre-season draft - Pick #6)
Cameron Hitchcock (Rookie draft - Pick #12)
Daniel Webb (Rookie draft - Pick #28)
Cameron Cloke (Rookie draft - Pick #41)
Glenn Dawson (Rookie draft - Pick #54)
Jordan Johns (NSW AFL Scholarship elevation)
Outs
Peter Burgoyne (retired)
Brendon Lade (retired)
Toby Thurstans (retired)
Shaun Burgoyne (traded to Hawthorn)
Mitchell Farmer (traded to Richmond)
Glenn Dawson (delisted)
Jonathan Giles (delisted)
Nick Lower (delisted)
Jesse Laurie (rookie delisted)
Matthew Martin (rookie delisted)
Other notable ins are Garry Hocking and Dean Laidley who's impacts have already been seen this year with a strong emphasis on toughness and tackling pressure.
It was an exciting trade period for us this year, with many suggesting we had one of the better trade weeks this year. So far this year Moore, Pittard, Schulz, Harding, Hitchcock and Cloke have all shown moments of great ability and this will need to continue throughout the year for us to feel success.
The pre-season so far has seen us defeat the Adelaide Crows in a tough defensive game, have a big win the following week at Subiaco against the up and coming Eagles, have a narrow loss against premiership favorites the Bulldogs, and be smashed by Collingwood.
What we take away from this, I dont know. We have really seen a new Port Adelaide so far this year, with a new game plan and some new great youth. We have also seen glimpses of the Port Adelaide of 2007-2009 with up and down moments and players dropping off towards the end of each quarter.
North are in a similar situation to us, a change in the guard in their coaching team and a lot of strong youth coming through.
One of the best pre-season players this year, has caught the eye of the nations media. How he lasted until the Rookie Draft will be anyones guess in a few years time. The likeness of Milne and perhaps our own Wanganeen has been mentioned time and time again. Fast, Smart and a great goal sense.
Bobby. Well, Bob hasnt had the best of preseason's. He was destroyed by Hall against the Bulldogs and hasnt perhaps shown as much as we would have hoped. The Rising Star Nominee of 2008 should be set to have a big year, he has put on a bit more size and looks fit. Looks like he will line up against Hale this week and needs to have a good game for us to shut down their forward line.
Words can barely describe my feelings. What a hunk of a man.
Many said 2009 would be his last, many will say 2010 will be his last, by the end of the year people will be fearing the big man's 2011 season. Can win a game on his own foot, and if he can continue last seasons form we might just sign him on for life.
We will have a good idea who will be our Ruckman for the first few games for this year by our line up on Sunday. All have impressed in their own ways, but none have really shined like the bright stars they could all be. With Brogan getting a little older, we need someone to back him up now that Blade has gone. Who will step up?
Our mid's are getting stronger with age, with Hartlett out until at least Round Two, and Rodan gone the likes of Gray and Boak need to have great games. Many expect them both to have huge years and they both have the possibility to become elite players.
Its expected to be Warm, Cloudy with Possible Rain on Sunday. But there is no need to worry, with our mix of talls and short players this year we will be able to work wet or dry.

Too many rucks, not enough ruckman.
