Social media team have put up a highlights package of Sav, that's been a good indicator so far this year for selection I think?

Sure has.

My money is on some really high, looping, un-penetrating kicks coming out of defence this week.

Lol this little thing follows me like a bad smell

No fight nedded, it would be called off 10 seconds into the first.

Too late the MRP have handed the Doggies a $10,000 fine.

Last year savage had the 6th best retention rate of the top 100 players for metres gained.
He also had the highest kick rating of the top 50 players for kicks out of defense into the midfield.
Yep, if there was something I wouldn't have though Sav's kicking was it would be high, looping and un-penetrating!

Yeah, his kicking is not the issue. imo the club probably wasn't happy with his lack of ball wining (can't use his awesome kick if he can't get it) so they sent him back to the VFL to work on that. He seems to have been racking up the disposals in the VFL so hopefully that translates to AFL.

Especially since our game plan is to kick it long and quickly deep into the forward line. He's probably under instructions to do that most of the time. He does that better than anyone else in the team, with Newnes probably not far behind. I also consider him to be one of, if not the best and most economical/efficient short kicks in the team.

I'll be interesting to see where he lines up this week if he gets in the team. If he's playing off half back then he'd want to start racking up 20+ disposals per game because Jimmy was averaging 21.8 per game and even DMac got 20 last week. Teams just can't afford to have a rebounding defender that doesn't find the ball - regardless of how well they use it.

Yeah, absolutely, we need him getting 20+ like he was when we first moved him down back a few years ago, or at worst the 20 he averaged last year.

Really? I don't have any stats, just a notion (memory of past games) that his kicking is fairly over rated. That and lack of defensive accountability.

Not a huge fan tbh! Reckon back in Dmac for another few weeks.

I wouldn't drop DMac for him. I'd drop Dunstan and probably play Sav on a wing. Koby can then take Dunstan's spot in the middle.
