Have been to last 3 games at AO. Last week v W.Bulldogs 14,159 sounded like twice that number. Yesterdays game v Richmond (approx.)10000 sounded like five times that number. Headache from yelling. Wasn't me yelling either.

Blokes near me sh*t themselves so many times, literally. Had a quick check after the game and seems they had dropped a bag of fruchocs.

For me, it was the passion of the supporters at the game. Don't think I've been to a game where so many got up out of their seats so many times during the game. All four quarters. Embarrassed when I looked around to still be sitting for the double 50m penalty...lesson learned.

Supporters get up out of their seats when the need is there. This game brought that need. Been a long time since we've seen a game like this.

Can only assume anyone watching the game live but not at AO was doing the same?
I must have done it 20 times. Including a sprint down to boundary line when Riewoldt dropped ball 2nd quarter 2m in front of #16 ump. Was one of those nights we have all been craving

I normally do a fair bit of complaining about the commentators, being interstate, I have to watch the game on TV.

but I must say, Russell and Maguire yesterday were very good and Roo didn’t make any stupid comments.

still confused about why Richmond were playing at 1600 and not prime time. Trying to cash in on the live feed into the US?
Too late for that. 3am Eastern; Midnight Pacific.

The way Richmond players were continually hard shoving our players into marking packs you''d have to think its something that's coached by Hardwick. So dangerous.

That was the sort of thing Adam Goodes got booed for. At first.

What a win, anyone who says this season has an asterix next to it has rocks in their head or has been living under one for the last 30 years. Id say in fact this years premiership is the first one in the AFL era NOT to feature an asterix.

Could only watch bits and pieces yesterday so looking forward to watching the replay later, some of what i saw regarding umpiring was absolutely criminal but so glad the boys managed to overcome both them and the testicle ticklers and deliver the goods in front of a raging home crowd.

When they shoved Dixon into one of their own and caused a goal AND nearly killed him 😂😂

And there was me thinking we couldn’t win at home
I reckon the St. Kilda loss was the wake up call we needed - ever since, we've played some astonishing footy. And the scary thing for opposition teams is that we still haven't played the perfect game (goal kicking): if it all clicks, somebody will cop an almighty flogging.

Watching the game on TV.

We have the most passionate and cutthroat supporters in this sport. I bloody love it.

“Have a listen to this crowd, they are going berserk over there, it’s madness. They’ll tear the place down!” - Eddie McGuire

“I’ve never heard this much noise from a crowd of 10,000. This is exceptional.” - Jason Dunstall

“10k? sounds like 100k! They love their footy the Port Adelaide fanbase, they are a bit like Turkish Delight, You either love em or you don’t really like em at all.” - Dwayne Russell

“I don’t really like them....,Turkish Delight that is.” - Mark Ricciuto

“That’s the problem with Port Adelaide fans in their great beauty, football is way too important.” - Dwayne Russell
I am reliably informed by someone on the Crows board that the crowd noise was coming from the PA system at the ground.

The only negatives really out of that game imo was out defense struggling at times. Lienert was probably our worst player on the ground. Not because he had less impact or disposals than some other quieter guys but he made more mistakes than anyone else and lead directly to goals at crucial times.

Sutcliffe was also shocking. I think every kick he had was a bad one and even missed targets in close with easy handballs.

The good thing...both of these players can be dropped for Mayes and Rozee next match! Problem solved.

That’s all they have left. They are dead inside as a football club.
The Showdown count is now 24 each - if current form is any indication, we'll be 30+ before they win another one.

It rarely is for Showdowns, shame we only played one this year though. Talk about another disadvantage over come.

So just watched the replay, the unemotional review:

- Two rucks are a must for Port Adelaide. Supporter have been crying for it. Lycett is the better tap ruckman but Ladhams has the ability to get around the ground and has much better foot skills. Not sure how you fit Dixon, Ladhams, Lycett, MG and Marshall all into the same team. Depending on match ups, one of those will probably have to come out for a bit of speed.
- A few players are starting to look tired. Duursma probably needs a rest. But 3 wins in 9 days would do that. Maybe not this week, but maybe against Hawthorn some players may need a week off.
- Port left about 5-6 goals on the field. Poor kicking is poor football. Set-shoots have to count.
- Probably the best game Port has played with Rockcliff, Wines, SPP and Boak in the same team. Absolutely smashed them in the middle. But when Richmond got it to the outside, Port struggled to stop them.
- Richmond transitioned the ball from full back to full forward too easily at times. The Richmond "chaos ball", "keep it moving forward" was difficult to break down. Port's defensive model is a high press, intercept marks and repeat inside 50s. The high handball game, run and gun could catch Port out.
- Port play a very clean game. I have noticed in the games against Brisbane, GWS and now Richmond, the opposition tend to push and scrag Port a lot more than port players give out. They are bigger more experienced team, who push the line a lot more.
- Probably the first game this season where you could easily justify the 3 votes for BOG to at least 4 different players for different reasons. A true team game.
- Richmond will say that they had 6 of the best 22 out, I think you can argue that Port had 3-4. It's not your best 6 players that win premierships, its players 18-26 on the list, who aren't automatic inclusions but come in and play their part. Port has some terrific depth at the moment (with exception of key defenders). Players in that category include Woodcock, Farell, Lienert, Mayes and Sutcliffe. None of them have been embarrassed this season and held their own. Whoever gets dropped for Rozee, Ebert, Motlop and Marshall will be unlucky.

Although my heart is a believer, Port still have a lot of work to do. Confidence is a big thing in football though.
