I am reliably informed by someone on the Crows board that the crowd noise was coming from the PA system at the ground.
I can understand why they would think that.

You will NEVER hear that much genuine noise from a Crows crowd.

They are 100% wrong though. That crowd was epic.

I'm a big Farrell fan, but Motlop would have offered more.
Rozee over Sutcliffe
Burton in for Lienert as well.
We have such good depth
Motlop on song offers more at the moment but he more regularly costs us goals on the turnover than Farrell. If you could guarantee we were getting Good Motlop I'd agree that for this game Motlop might have brought more.

What a win, anyone who says this season has an asterix next to it has rocks in their head or has been living under one for the last 30 years. Id say in fact this years premiership is the first one in the AFL era NOT to feature an asterix.

Could only watch bits and pieces yesterday so looking forward to watching the replay later, some of what i saw regarding umpiring was absolutely criminal but so glad the boys managed to overcome both them and the testicle ticklers and deliver the goods in front of a raging home crowd.

I reckon the St. Kilda loss was the wake up call we needed - ever since, we've played some astonishing footy. And the scary thing opposition teams is that we still haven't played the perfect game (goal kicking): if it all clicks, somebody will cop an almighty flogging.

And the st Kilda game took St Kilda literally the best goal kicking performance in 100 years to beat us

Most impressive win since against the Hawks in 2015. In many past games when we've been challenged by a better opponent we've failed to compose and find a way to win.

Richmond bounced back and took it right up to us but we managed to match them and found the momentum swing when they were challenging.

It was a bit of perfect storm for us too: Ladhams had a breakout game, Boak's in career best form, Wines/Gray getting their mojos back and kids who are playing like 200 gamers (Butters/Georgiades/Woodcock).

Whether we can keep this up is another thing, but I was very skeptical in 2018 about us, but the signs now is that we're probably not pretending anymore.

The Showdown count is now 24 each - if current form is any indication, we'll be 30+ before they win another one.

* if not for COVID we would have been guaranteed two percentage boosting wins against the worst team to ever play AFL and taken the showdown lead back!

So it is an asterisk year. We have been robbed!

That first half of footy was extraordinary. Immense pressure, huge noise, and the score kept ticking over at an impressive rate. 90 points total to half time would be respectable in regular length quarters, let alone shortened ones. It is without a doubt the best footy I've seen in years, particularly the second quarter.

The 2nd time. The Showdown was pretty socially distanced. I agree totally that it felt a bit uneasy at the games with 15,000 and only every 2nd seat free.
Yeah but that extended onto the ground - the Crows refused to go near our players :).

I don’t see a problem doing it. It’s dirty, but you are trying to win. That’s a weakness a team could try to explore.

You can’t get caught doing it, though. After all, it’s dirty.

Farrell might regularly cost us goals on turn over if he could only get more of the ball!

I am a Farrell fan and think there is a place for him in future years as best 22 but right now any player not firing for an extended period of time should make way for someone else and he is skating on thin ice in this respect.

I just need to bring up a sometimes unpopular subject that some of my fellow posters have issues with and that’s the twilight Saturday night time slot. I love it because you get the best of both worlds - one half in daylight and the other under lights. The weather was perfect last night and therefore it suited our game. Please give us more of this time slot, thank you.

Cornes "Ned McHenry is a second year player who has done nothing in the game"
Ironically, it was Butters and Rozee who targeted Gawn repeatedly in round 1 (their debut matches) last year. In fairness, Butters at least had done more in two preseason matches than McHenry has in two years.

Excellent win, took our opportunity to consolidate top spot with both hands.

It had all the makings of a “what happen power” game - a great start that we didn’t capitalise on through inaccuracy, some terrible umpiring decisions handing them goals, bad turnovers robbing ourselves of momentum. When we were down at 3 quarter time flashbacks from recent years would suggest we were looking at a close loss after burning our chances. Yet within two minutes we had piled on 3 goals and set up a game winning lead.

This year we have been able to soak up momentum changes, keep in games when it is not being played on our terms, and adapt incredibly well. Our team looks balanced, without a real weakness across the board, and we’re not reliant on any one player (except Dixon).

One of the best wins I’ve seen in years. Make no mistake, we’re right in the mix this year.

I'm not so sure any more. Farrell's field kicking would be missed. He's a lot better defensively and is a weapon from outside 50. He's also the future while Motlop is a lot older. Tough one, on song Motlop is a great player and he would be useful in finals...
