Very good. It may surprise some on here a touch, with key take outs that our ball use and transition stacks up quite well, just not forward of centre with this being a talent and personnel issue.
Spot on summary.

Those numbers pretty much have us as a top five side, just without a forward line.
The F50 numbers are diabolical.

Its actually the best bit of media we have had in weeks.
Very refreshing to see some media actually look at our issues instead of just looking at Ross and assuming we are struggling because of defensive football.

It was good. He is good.
And although we don’t have all the stats he showed in comparison to other teams it wasn’t all that surprising to hear.
We all know our defence and run from the d50 is in pretty good order. But that we don’t have the talent in the midfield and are fielding a pretty young, inexperienced forward line.

Puts it into perspective though. It’s not Ross’ game plan. We need more talent, or the talent we have to keep improving. It’s not all doom and gloom, but it is a work in progress.
Also highlighted how important good small forwards are. Without Higgins, Butler and a proper Gresh replacement (given Henry's injury), it shouldn't be a surprised we are last in the comp for scoring from inside 50 stoppages.

You can't just stick a kid in that position and tell them to be a small forward. There is skill and craft involved in doing that role effectively.

The Dees will win as they have Gawn who will just float around our forward half and mark everything that comes down there. We should bring Campbell in for this match to concentrate of centre bounces, stoppage etc..imagine a Saint midfielder having the luxury of his ruckman palming the ball to him, let RoMa spend more time following Gawn around the ground.
Nah - never happen. Campbell's contract expressly states that he's not allowed to play alongside Marshall.

Apparently Marshall, as the sole ruck, is an integral part of the game plan and if we played two rucks, the whole plan falls apart and we turn into an absolute s***show where we struggle to score.

Who do we sponsor? We don’t have our 2024 badges yet???

I asked that question weeks ago ,

Was Richo a 1974 Volvo wagon?
Watters some weird Citroen thing.

Richo was a Leyland P76. Something no-one ever wanted and in hindsight was still a **** up. Watters was Proton Satria. Something little and noisy with aspirations to be a winner but no-one took to him.

Leyland P76?

That's funny as **** I was just writing that as you posted. He's definitely got that vibe. No-one was sure if he was 10 years too early or ten years too late or just shit altogether.

Looking at our current injury list we might find out at last what our Best 22 looks like in the coaches eyes.

We all like to play around with our Best 22 lineup on paper but in the last couple of seasons we've always had ten or so unavailable.

Now even the ones who've just come back have had a run or two at Sandy. No excuses in that regard now.

Geelong look like they've started to stumble. Melbourne are all over the place. Carlton are looking like they are in a slump etc. None of them look that flash to me. I would think Sydney and Collingwood are the form sides right now and neither are outrageously better than anyone.

We have been awful but we are getting back our most important players. Doesn't guarantee wins but it's better than playing with your hands tied.
I don't support the whole tanking for draft picks concept. Maybe with a couple of games to go if it's going to get you a Harley Reid type.

But with half a season still to go you have to show some spirit. For the fans sure but more importantly to help us woo some uncontracted players or free agents. No one will want to come to us if they see us as a basket case, no matter how much cash we throw at them. Potential recruits need to see a club on the rise and with a future. Tanking doesn't help that image.

And who in their right mind would trust us to wisely use a good draft hand anyway. Our recent track record would suggest otherwise.

At some stage we will probably get going and win some games. Our percentage suggests we aren't that bad.

Would prefer that to be this week but Melbourne are a well drilled side. Also guys coming back from injury seem to be taking a while to find form.

I think we'll struggle this week.

I'd like to see Pou go to the twos a d actually find form. I'm a bit tired of rotating players through the middle and forward that are just out of form.

I kinda want us to just say heck it and play Allison just to see
I'd like to see him play as well , but after bringing in 5 players last week and most probably 3 this week I really feel we need just to settle our starting line up for a while and attempt to get to a stage where our game plan can come together.
Give Allison another couple games to prove it was just not a one off and if he performs he will be brought in for sure - it will be interesting if Seb Ross and Membery come back into the side this week - if Membery comes back in you can forget about Allison getting a game because spots for his position are currently hotly contested between Hammer and Hayes.

Royal Enfield had a nice four-wheeler early on called a 4 1/2 HP Forecar Quadricyle, but I think Watto would be an early Toyota Celica, the very first series. 1600 4 cyl. Nice lines, sporty looking, Coke style body US inspired. Richo a Bedford truck, Ratto an International Harvester.

I like this distraction. I feel we are metaphorically, like the Germans lined up on the Oder front in 1945, awaiting a Soviet onslaught. The selection committee are in the Bunker, shuffling around paltry divisions that are at half strength across the map, and telling themselves collectively that we are ready, whilst privately knowing it will be only a blunting elastic defence that slows down the inevitable onslaught. They are speaking too their personal drivers and covertly collecting gasoline for their family escape.

I'm thinking maybe a Morris Minor...........with emphasis on the Minor.

:) :)
