The Tigers host the Hawks in a curtain raiser to the AFL game later in the afternoon, albeit at the Swinburne Centre at Punt Road Oval. The Hawks bounced back from a poor game against Essendon the week prior to trounce the Giants by 68 points at Box Hill City Oval, but the Tigers also enjoyed success, beating Port Melbourne by 49 points at North Port Oval last Friday night.

The Hawks moved into fifth position on the VFL ladder following their big win over the Giants last weekend, while the Tigers sit a game behind the Hawks in ninth position (no laughing!). Accordingly, this is an important game for both teams with neither team affording a loss and the consequent slip down the ladder. The Bulldogs sit a game clear on top of the ladder with nine wins from ten games, while the Cats and Werribee Tigers are second and third respectively, having won eight games from 10 games played. The Hawks are one of three teams on seven wins for the season, together with Southport and Williamstown, while the Zebras sit in seventh, with six wins and a draw. The Lions and Richmond each have six wins, albeit the Lions have only played nine games so far this season. The Suns cling on to the final spot in the top ten, with four wins and two draws from nine games played.

Excitingly for Box Hill and Hawthorn fans, if all goes to plan, there's a chance that Mitchell Lewis will line up for Box Hill on the weekend, at least in some form for part of the game as he continues his rehabilitation from his latest injury, while Chad Wingard continues his rehabilitation from a torn Achilles.

The game will be broadcast on the AFL website while 94.1 FM will have a live radio broadcast of the game. Teams to come.

Mtich is definitely playing on Saturday

Pretty crazy to think Box Hill could have Lewis, Wingard and Watson all lining up in the forward 50 this week. Rammsden, Bennetts and Scaife also compliment those 3 nicely. A great balance of marking tall forwards with mobility with 3 dangerous smalls who can create goals from nothing but can also lead up to the ball.

Arguably it's a better forward line than some AFL teams will run out with this week. I'd certainly prefer it over the Saints and North line ups from last week. It would also compare well with Eagles, Tigers and Crows forward groups.

Wingard won't play

Be good to get a fair crowd prior to the big game. Hoping Lewis kills it.

Sounds like he’s only playing a couple of quarters. Hoping that managing him through the game doesn’t leave BHH in trouble. This is an important game.

Ollie Walker-Peel ((the british guy) is one of the best commentators out there, he genuinely just loves the game and loves watching it.
