It was the most even performance we have had in a long time. Sidey and Pendles had super important touches while all of Thomas, WHE, Cal, and even Cameron at the end had moments of influence. DeGoey makes things happen and just needs to be in the play.
Seeing that both Moore and Mihocek were down by their usual standards it was a win full of merit.
oh yeah and didn’t hurt big Tex spraying them round like Trav Cloke either.

Paul seedsman is a tick from hine really..pick 76 and a solid career

Never understood why we got rid of him...bit like rhyce Shaw....traded just as they were getting good.

Odd

As he did not much even at VFL Level

A win for the soul. It was tiring losing too many close ones recently, so I'm glad we're on the winning side for a change.

Elliott's return was perfect. Didn't miss a beat, and his lead up work was terrific. We've really missed him over the last two months, but hopefully he has a good run at it for the rest of the year. 6 goals is a personal best for him.

Pendlebury and Sidebottom were outstanding. They were a major reason for the victory.

The emergence of some good young talent is what keeps the faith of supporters during tough times. Bianco, Poulter and McCreery all look like proper footballers with long careers ahead of them.

Best part about today was the way we fought back in the latter stages of the 3rd quarter. The game looked like slipping away again but we found another gear and the kids were front and centre here. The pressure went up and they handled the heat beautifully.

Big credit to Darcy Cameron at the end. Struggled all game, but he took some big grabs in the dying stages which slowed the game down, killed some time and ultimately deprived Adelaide any chance to kick a winner in the end.

Congratulations on the win. Just more polished in front of goal and elliot had a field day. We must have had collingwood tops inbedded into out minds as i think we hit up your players more than we hit our own. It shows what quality in the midfield can do..we had keays and laird..full of huff and puff but you guys had pendlebury and sidebottom who are just class. We deserved to lose tonight. Just hope we can snare that elite mid in this years draft. Good luck for the rest of the season

Odd

I think Seedsman had all the tools but not the work ethic. Think the Orval boys might have been a bit of a distraction from what you read. Just had to get out of Melbourne.

Silly comment. Firstly, if you are always upbeat regardless of how horrendously we play , why is a win any more worthy of praise and acclamation?
The second point is, if we played like that every week, the Debbie Downers would be rare indeed.
The whole reason people are negative is because we don't see these kind of games often enough.
I praise our team when they deserve praise and criticise when they are poor.
Surely that's what any good parent, teacher or coach should do.
Not really a silly comment. Imagine what we may have been had Elliott not been injured and having a fit Howe?

I think that may have made a huge difference in our close losses. That is the reality that I have taken out of this year plus seeing us blood the young players in Poulter and Bianco.

Like any good parent, teacher or coach you look at what you have and do the best you can but understanding with a couple of extra players know you can be better.

It's hard to recall a better performance from a Collingwood forward than Jamie Elliott today. Probably Cloke's 7 goals vs Richmond in 2013
Cloke vs Melbourne 2015 (Queens’ Birthday)

Kicked it from everywhere that day.

Firstly, nice to get a win.....

I ask: Did we see anything different with ball movement? or was it the same....but we got lucky?

For mine, it was more Elliot having a career day and Tex having a Career worst day that "won" the day.
We didn't see anything different in terms of how we played.

We still cannot get it out of defence on slow play. As soon as its slowed down, we are toast !!
its just horrible to watch and very inevitable!!!

we refuse to take a risk and handball from half back. countless times we had the opportunity to handball and didn't.
would have it worked???? no idea. but its better than what we know....which is chip sideways and then cough it up 5 possessions later inside 50!!

But we learnt a bit...
- lynch is done. So no issues with finding out if he can make it. When the game was a on the line in the last, O'Brien took a great mark in defence and lynch was no where to be seen. I'm ok with getting done in the ruck. but that's work ethic.
- Madgen - as much as i think he has limited value.....that value is defence. so he's at best great depth in defence.
- Bianco. Can play. Left / right....doesn't seem to matter. but the thing that impressed me was work ethic. He did something i haven't seen anyone else do this season......he attempted a smother!!! OMFG!!!
- Sier. Done. About three times he was asked to defend and refused to. Had multiple chances to smother....threw a hand out and "that'll do"....no intensity at all.
- Degeoy....interesting.....had about 4 chances to tackle and take the body...but refused to and it cost us....but when he gets an opportunity, he doesn't waste
it. So annoying as a player! but watching martin, he does the same thing.....
- Cameron - dont let the last 1 min fool you. He's just rubbish. contest after contest he was horrible. When he was in the Ruck, we lost 5 centre clearances in a row. Makes me wonder if he just doesn't know where to run or what to do?
- Rantall - Done. Wont make it. to light on in frame and fumbles too much. You just cant fumble at AFL. being clean is 75% of the battle to 'make it'. good to know this now rather than later on!
- Poulter - again, can play!! great decision making. composed when needed (that goal).

- Elliot....just lol. so underrated. did nothing wrong and is "clean". thats the difference with him
- IQ - Well that's the worst game he's played!! so i take that as a positive as its very unlike him.

We defended really well, no better or worse than previous weeks.
But in reality, if Crows kick remotely straight, we lose......

so i ask again.....did we see anything different from the past few weeks?
For me, no.
We just had a jet up forward who kicked straight and got us over the line.
This a horrible take! I’m not saying we played like world beaters but it’s clear as day we kept our defence tight while playing a more attacking game tonight. I honestly thought we got the balance between defence and attack a lot better than previous weeks.

Adelaide have been playing good footy despite their ladder position and recently knocked off the dees who are red hot. The reality is we didn’t have much depth prior to having to get rid of 3 first 22 players due to the cap. Then we copped injuries to some of our most important players and were forced to throw in a bunch of kids, sidey and pendles both good tonight but have probably declined quicker than expected which hasn’t helped the cause.

Our games before tonight haven’t been good to watch but I honestly don’t think we have the a skilful list save for these kids coming on who are inexperienced and will make mistakes.

shout out to Jamie we really missed his class up forward clearly, 6 after being out so long is amazing. Crisp was relentless tonight! Poulter and Bianco looked like real players for the future, both are skillful and cool in a crisis. And the old heads stood up. We are a rebuilding side and tonight was a step in the right direction, although it will be hard to maintain that up against the form side of the comp next week but here’s hoping to atleast be competitive.
