danger game i feel - obviously not in the normal way but i feel in prior years after we have won a good game or two in a row (this year those wins have been better and more consistent as we'd all hope due to natural growth of group) and then had a bit of bringing back down to earth - not in a terrible way but enough to remind us where were at. i feel if we can avoid those dreaded autopsy's of 'given a reality check' after this good run form (i.e. another loss on. par with the sydney/gc games), will show how far we have come. obviously we will lose games in the rest of szn but avoiding those types.... god the next 10 years will be exciting!!! UPPA

Can’t be a danger game as we are going in as underdogs

meant in the way in which we are able to continue our form, why i said not in the normal. personally i love going in as underdogs - hope everyone keeps doubting us and not jump on the kane train!! just they wait

Even if we lose we can still keep our form as we are not expected to win.
To me the game is an opportunity to see how our game stacks up against a top 8 side.

GWS definitely and deservedly raging favourites . They are on a journey to make top 4 and maybe win it. As long as we put in a good performance I'm ok with a loss ( so to speak). But, that means Dusty's 300th has to be a secondary story to our win against them the week after.

So you wouldn't bring in Chad or Wiz? Because someone has to make way if either of those guys are to come in.
No I wouldn't swap out a key forward for those 2. Especially when he is playing such a great role. Nor would I be changing anything about the forward line setup right now. It is just getting better and better the way its functioning.
Hickmont is doing a great job.

The only way those two come in for me is via injury or start as the sub.

This is just what happens when you have depth in the squad. You have to wait until an opportunity comes up, then grab it with both hands.

Tough week for changes given how well we played.

I think it's fair to say that CJ has really struggled to get involved in the last two games since his return. Maybe he could do with a spell and someone like Ward, who has been great in the VFL, gets rewarded for his form.

Mitchell was beaten by Cook in a few contests and has had a lacklustre few weeks. But to be fair to him he had to play on Cameron last week.

IN
Watson / Wingard
Ward
Meek (if fit)

OUT
CJ
Mitchell
Reeves (if Meek is fit)

Happy to have Breust as the sub again. And Hardwick moves back into defence to take on Greene, who he has played well on over the years.

Defensive matchups:
Greene - Hardwick
Riccardi - Scrimshaw
Cadman - Weddle
Hogan - Frost
Daniels - Impey

I’d be keeping CJ in, he is just finding his feet and now a few games in with some match fitness and confidence in his body a breakout game is just around the corner. We really need his speed, athleticism and endurance running against a team like GWS.

No way they deserve to be raging hot favourites. It is in Tassy not Sydney. We have been the underdogs in our last 4 wins and to be honest I am sick of the bs odds in our games! Reckon we will smack them through the midfield and I clearly don’t rate them as highly as you do.

Does Wingard get back into the side when his fully fit, if so who does he replace?

As I feel he plays in the role Gini,MacDonald, Moore plays in, and will we drop one of these guys for him.

Breust is the sub and this works well and Sam seem to like him there.

They put CJ a lot on the open side wing. It means he does a lot of running to protect the switch. Means he doesn't get a lot of the ball but important for the defensive structure

GWS deserve to be favourites. Enjoy being the underdog and the good odds that come with it. It won’t be long until it changes.

This is a huge game for the team, what a difference a month can make. We were all frustrated 0-5 against some decent opposition and a injury toll.

If we get over the line we go into a match with Richmond with a red hot chance to be 7-7.

Not many changes for this reason, don't upset the winning formula to much. Meek in for Reeves if his fit.

Some obvious guys knocking the door down Wiz,Chad,Ward and co. I can't see to many in's, Wiz will come back first.

Unless they are prepared to throw the magnets around. Example Hardwick back as a lockdown and loosing his flexibility for a Whiz or Chad up forward.

Will be a real test. Such positive publicity this week, hoping the players don’t drink their own bath water.

Giants are gettable. Minimal changes - only those forced by injury.
I was thinking this too but then realised Sam and the team are too smart to not remind the boys they have achieved nothing to date. The journey is about to begin.

I think we can put in another strong performance in this one - so the danger game for mine would be the following week vs Richmond.
Anyways it'll be really interesting to see how each team goes w/ their F50 entries.
I expect their KPD to have a strong influence on the game, so we'll need to pick our way through them. Will be a good test for our fwds as well as our mids to pick their way through it, as I think our mids should be able to get their hands on it a lot.

Briggs is a big aggressive unit, so hopefully Meek is right for this one.

If Meek is fit then in for Reeves. If both out injured then Ramsden in.
Bruest to have the week off from being sub to be with the newborn. Watson in.
If Worpel needs a week with his knock in the Adelaide game then either Maginess, who had a belter on the weekend, or Ward who wasn't far behind him.
Wingard and Morrison also did well but spots are now very tight.

Hoping Dusty gets selected to play his 300th in Adelaide, and the reason they got a Thursday night game, but have a feeling they will rest him on a 5 day break and travel, and to ensure his 300th is a home game for the Tigers against us at the G.

Big test for the midfield this week.

Green is one of the best two or three contested midfielders in the league and Jelly, Coniglio and Whitfield are extremely damaging. Callaghan is going to be a Rolls Royce too.

Nash will probably have to sit on Green all game.

Newcombe, Day and Worpel will go head to head against Coniglio, Callaghan, Jelly (if fit?) and whoever else they roll through there.

If Meek gets up then it will be a big battle between him and big Briggs.
