I’m surprised with how much distance key backs/forwards may cover during the game.Probably because they didn’t have three out of their four rucks, a key forward who can ruck at a pinch, and their best key forward all unavailable at the same time, not to mention multiple injuries around the ground.
Besides I never claimed it to be a simple equation ( whatever that means). I suggested frampton ruck from the backline, and Kreuger around the ground and forward, because of our specific situation . Temporarily. To prevent Cameron from being even more overloaded. And to bolster our backline.
Cameron has never "softened" him up before, its always been Cox that worries Gawn, that has given us the advantage.I’m surprised with how much distance key backs/forwards may cover during the game.
There doesn’t seem to be an easy solution. Clubs talk about the 1%. A chop out for a few minutes can be the difference.
Maybe it’s a case of just being smarter. Whether it be Cameron covers less space, or a completely different midfield setup when he is off, or deciding during the game who will relieve him based on the game and fitness of players.
I’m sure the coaches already do it.
For Gawn, we probably just need a big hard body to jump into him. Maybe Cameron softens him up.
This is exactly why we will be beaten.
We have a unique ability to drop to the level of another side and then get beaten with experience.
Remember when we played a VFL ruckman 3 years ago against Gawn who came out square?Cameron has never "softened" him up before, its always been Cox that worries Gawn, that has given us the advantage.
It was Lynch - I think he saved his career with that performance and silenced some critics.Remember when we played a VFL ruckman 3 years ago against Gawn who came out square?
Maybe we’re focusing on it too much.
with our luck, he'll miss Gawn and take out NickKreuger is a 50/50 chance to injure himself on Gawn.
Just play him and see if we get the lucky injury double.
Nothing but a mushroom cloud in the centre square, 6 down with concussion and an umpire with flash burns.with our luck, he'll miss Gawn and take out Nick
You take that back!!!with our luck, he'll miss Gawn and take out Nick
That would be very timely! As much as kreugs is a bit of a running joke, he actually hasn’t been particularly badly injured over the past 12 months, especially not from contact injuries which seemed to be his forte. Hopefully a good sign. He just needs an opportunity now. Could be our secret weapon!
Damning with faint praise there! He's not uuuuhhhh THAT bad...he actually hasn’t been particularly badly injured over the past 12 months...
Faint praise is better than none! Compared to previous seasons he’s had a clean run.Damning with faint praise there! He's not uuuuhhhh THAT bad
I’d like to play them both but that’s not likely with Reef and Wilbur returningThat would be very timely!
Giving him a go makes more sense than asking Ash to play that role - even if Ash was in better form. We need the bigger bodied player.
Wilbur to the wing, if Steele is staying back?I’d like to play them both but that’s not likely with Reef and Wilbur returning
Sometimes coaches have to make a personal sacrifice. There wouldn't be much leftover coming from Goodwin
Are you suggesting he be our kamikaze?Kreuger is a 50/50 chance to injure himself on Gawn.
Just play him and see if we get the lucky injury double.
Don't remind me of Des Tuddenham knocking out Peter McKenna then failing to flatten Ted Hopkinswith our luck, he'll miss Gawn and take out Nick

Lever is actually very important to their defensive setup.I kind of see a bit of light at the end of the tunnel. We won't see a repeat of the NT clash, but we may see an over-correction and they cook themselves with hard running by half time.
Their forward line (besides the guy with the DEVO plastic hair) is as cobbled together as ours, and their backline has taken a hit without Lever. I really do see us making some headway in centre clearances and rebound 50, but I want to see us lower our eyes, much like we did against WCE.
Hope so. Terrible in defenceI wonder if for one week we might push Sidebottom back up to a wing, to reprise his role in putting the clown suit on Ed Langdon last year. Lipinski could maybe be that third midfielder behind Nick Daicos and Crisp, and allow us to run out the full four quarters.
