Hey board

Great win.
I was a bit cocky when I heard we were getting back some players late in the week. Really felt this inner confidence that we would get the job done but boy, how wrong was I.

Love the way you guys are playing. It's incredible footy. Free flowing. It's what the game needs right now.
Rozee, what a player!
Also hope Butters is alright as I saw he tweaked his knee and appeared proppy for the rest of the game. Is he ok?
I'd rest him up if possible for a few weeks if need be.

I'll be on Port this year to win the flag.
Be good to see Boak win a much deserved premiership.

Great team performance against a very good footy club. The Cats were definitely up for this one, reigning Premiers, fresh of the bye, fielding their strongest side of the year, & needing the win to launch another September assault, but they just didn’t have any answers after halftime.

Every week I’m expecting us to revert to bad habits of old, but it’s just not happening. Do we dare to dream?

To think we have Jones, Duursma, Rioli, Lord & others not playing tonight, suggests we have the depth to go very deep into September.

Want to mention 3 players
Scott Lycett, literally back from the dead was fantastic again tonight
Miles Bergman- Outstanding job on one of the best players in the AFL, must keep him.
Dan Houston- Another outstanding game, must be All Australian

Excellent win, particularly after such a sluggish start. To come back from 20 points down, particularly off multiple 6 day breaks in a row against a team fresh off the bye is a great effort.

There were plenty of good efforts all over the ground. To have Wines as a recent Brownlow medallist now able to play as one of our supporting mids is amazing. I thought he was excellent tonight and has been building in recent weeks.

Marshall’s form since his return has been outstanding. 3 goals from 15 disposals with 7 marks. His ability to find some space and hit a target inside 50 is a massive asset. Has been working particularly well with Finlayson in particular too.

I also thought that was a particularly good game by Narkle, particularly after being a late in, and having only a brief amount of time to learn the game plan + get to know the team. 2 goals and 13 disposals is a great effort first up.

things i learnt from the game, geelong are not a bad team, but,,, we burnt the ball a lot early & made it easier for them, not necessarily from geelong pressure.
but we persevered, kept pushing forward over 4 quarters. i am impressed for the first time in years.

This Kenny Powers thing is gangbusters. Do you think you could make it flash?

Took ya time 😂
To be fair, I reckon the players took a while to gel earlier in the season. But the extreme confidence in their own ability, as well as each other is insane, and bloody exciting to watch, and I truly believe we can still get better.

Houston getting out of the midfield and going back to the half-back line has been massive for our team. He was a solid B grade level mid but is an A+ level intercepting, attacking half back flanker where he has time and space to use his kick as a weapon rather than dump kick clearances.

Turned on the Channel 7 post game coverage and there was Richo asking Butters in the Port change rooms his opinion about Trent Cotchin and his 300th game.

WTF?
He answered the question very well, then Mclachlans follow up was basically 'keep going, tell us again why he so good?', which was even more awkward.

They also intervewed Marshall who picked JHF as our best kick to a leading forward.

When did our field kicking get so good? It's like we were blessed this whole time with elite kicks in Houston, Farrell, McKenzie and Burton. Haven't seen it for many years.
Dylan Williams is one of the best kicks from the backlines.
