Autopsy Round 14, 2024: Brisbane v St.Kilda

Don’t want to hear about RTB - if anyone thinks coaching is our problem they are on shrooms - gave it a good shake from what we had available- longer term (short term pain) no Ross, Cordy (Caminiti like it) , Jones, Clark (not athletic or a midfielders bootlace), Members & probably Howard. (I know probably got to play some of them - but they are all gone)

Persevere wth Schoonerskoller with a more settled backline

Ps Garcia in - pump games into the lad no matter the result!

Moving guys like Seb and Jones out for Nas and someone like LDU would make a massive difference. If Steele was still fit and Dow was playing at his best we'd look much better. Frustrating that it's taken this long to play attacking footy.
I don’t think it was through lack of effort from the players or coaching group. We’ve just been seriously out of form and when you’re not finishing the work off on a consistent basis it becomes a nagging feeling.
Our footy in the first month was exciting enough. Suspect we’ll take a lot offensively tonight

Clark stood out like dogs balls in the last while every one else was taking the game on and running hard defensively. Was slow and always 5 meters off his opponent.

Same story as always. Has the skills but **** me he’s unfit and slow.

The coaching from the box was sub standard for mine however to see the boys get so close and put on a good score in the hardest road trip in the AFL is great signs moving forward.

+King not shrugging his shoulders and keeps presenting. Much improved but i still don't trust him form. Needs to keep showing it.
+Higgins super
+Butlers role is very important to the side
+Caminiti did some nice things. Why wasn't he played in defence from the start of the year?
+Henry is great for us moving forward and bad for Freo. He has a lot star potential.
+Shoenmaker is best 22 on upside alone. Keep playing him and make him a permanent fixture in said 22.
+If Campbell keeps getting a game with Marshall i will be happy. We need the height from both of them.
+Wilson, good recovery to impact after a quiet one or two. Was solid.
+Wood and his impact. We are a better team when he is in form.

-Mcluggage ran free it felt like unhindered.
-Zorko had to much say until the game was put beyond reach.
-To much emphasis trying to quieten Neale while not enough from Windhager winning his own ball and impacting
-Berry as an example did impact while doing his job on Steele
-Why does Jones get a game? No, just no.

I don't like us getting a low pick this year. We could even go on a big run and still make finals. No mans land regarding draft picks but we are finding our mojo as a team.

What were your thoughts on Dow? He seemed to have some good moments but didn't get enough of it.

He's not doing it for me. Hopefully he's just not at 100% yet. His production is so low and his skill set isn't good enough to carry it. Hunter Clark played similarly low production but he is able to use his possession to hurt when he does get it.

For once I agree with John Setka, these dog umpires need to get the Jimmy Hoffa treatment. Semi-joking.

Also anyone feel better about this group in the long term after watching this loss compared to the 2 previous games we won..? That last quarter with some fast transition and ball movement, King all of a sudden was a genuine target. Schoenmaker is already showing more than Doogs and Cordy with the ball, just needs to build his frame a bit and work a little on his defending.

Swap out Jones, Cordy, Bonner and Ross for Nas, Webster, Crouch and Garcia. Lose some of the softness in defending (Jones and Bonner) for some more accountability (Crouch and Webster), then our midfield defensive role of Ross gets handed over to Garcia. Cordy was replaced by Caminiti in the backline which was ok really. Ro got to play more forward.

Best display from Henry since coming back from injury.

Butler showed a bit late once the team got going.

Higgins was on from the word go.

Owens battled away, got clobbered and kept putting his head over the ball.

I'll take that loss over a 51-48 win with some clown-like skills from last week.

Lyon moved the magnets way more than usual. He was actually creative and made footy look much less boring.

At least we kicked a few and there are some clear takeaways from the game.

Ari plays for the rest of the year
Hammer in defence could be worth a look but you'd want him to do a pre season there. Don't mind him filling in for Howard for a week or so though
I thought two rucks worked well. Ro is a bit fresher and has more freedom to roam around the ground
Henry was great once he pulled his finger out
Bonner and Ross should never play another senior game
Owens is a beast and needs to consistently have bursts in the middle
Higgo is a gun, love it when he kicks accurate drop punts

Would like to see this team after the bye

Out: Ross, Cordy, Bonner, Jones
In: NWM, Sharman, Garcia, Stocker

B: Caminiti, Wilkie, Schoenmaker
HB: NWM, Battle, Sinclair
C: Hill, Steele, Wood
HF: Higgins, King, Owens
F: Butler, Sharman, Wilson

Foll: Marshall, Windhager, Dow
Int: Clark, Stocker, Henry, Campbell, Garcia (sub)

Henry looked terrible in the first half then nearly won us the match. Higgo was huge. Marshall plays with the heart of a lion. When ever people talk of flogging Marshall to the highest bidder he reminds why it wouldn't be a good idea.

Yep

Henry needs to not wait til the second half to get going. Was defensively lazy in the first. But he was good to watch once he got moving.

And Roma deserves more credit than he gets... carries us on his back sometimes.

Love Higgins. Unbelievably important for us.

I'm losing faith that Steele will ever be what he was.

Great debut from Arie. Finally, we get a great kick into the side.

Still think Owens into the middle is the answer to a lot of our woes.

He is perfectly fine. He would be a fantastic 3-4th mid.

Which just encapsulates our main issue

I don't always agree with this guy but maybe some merit to it
