Yeah agree it’s not a great look - and hope Mitch encourages them to remove it from their game - other than that what a great mosquito squad - just got to get ‘‘em kicking straight

We we building a very unpredictable forward line that’s great to see
Genuine excitement anytime Wiz goes near it. Opposition fans already hate him.

Because they hit higher percentages with the around the corner kick.
It's that simple.
You can want them to kick it the way you grew up watching it, or you can just accept that todays elite players who have been the best at their age groups their entire lives want to give themselves the best chance to score.
They've kicked the drop punt and seen very limited results, in fact goal kicking is a skill that has never really improved largely because players have tried hitting the center seam of a football via the drop punt, and any slight veering away via the drop of the ball or run in causes it to be impossible to kick dead straight.
They practice the hell out of it, the around the corner, and the coaches not just accept it but run drills for all players to hit them that way, even from straight in front.
Plenty hated to see the drop kick disappear, the torpedo become just a long forgotten myth.
You'll either accept the way things are going or just be mad incessantly the rest of time.
No issue with snaps from tight angles, but when you’re on less than a 45 degree angle and 30-35m out - to choose a technique that doesn’t make the distance is simply rubbish.

You’re allowed to kick drop punts and snap shots in the same game. If they have the time to practice snaps, they have the time to practice what Chol, Breust and Gunston do in their sleep.

The right kick for the situation.

Besides a fairly strong backline there’s not much to like about the Tigers, they look very ordinary in the guts and we were in full control. The quietest 92k you’ll ever hear.

On another note, Scrim deserves to be in the All Australian conversation.
Tigers are terrible. They are where we were 5 years ago. Will spend several years in the bottom 6.

We did what we should have done to them today. Absorbed the early emotion, neutralised the monster crowd and comfortably beat a side we are a lot better than.

True but so is a 92,000 crowd between these teams. About 40,000 people came solely for Martin which alone is a pretty massive story
Didn’t feel like a 92k crowd tbh. Was very quiet from after that Dusty goal, and many tigers supporters seemed barely interested.

Chol
d'Ambrosio
Ginnivan
three best recruits we could ever have hoped for. As good as Bramble has been this year, the little fellah from Essendon is a level above. Played himself into the AA 40 squad today, as did Moore and Sicily.

TBH, wasn't our best game, lots of handling and skill errors, but the pressure has yet again been elite.
12 hours ago, I would have said Mitch Lewis might come in for a tired Gunston, but after watching Scaife live today, he might get first go.
Seamus Mitchell was incredible, he surely is an AFL player, he'll be beating down the door.

What a ripper!
One heck of an atmosphere for a home and away match - unbelievable.
Would've been a great experience for a good chunk of the side to play in that sort of game - hostile environment, huge crowd etc.

Brilliant work across all quarters. Didn't let the quick, early Martin goal spook them. Great games from a heap of blokes. If we could have a Weddle on each and every line we'd be laughing, but he seems to end up bloody everywhere anyhow. Legend.

Hope the boys enjoy the well-earned rest, but at the same time, hope it doesn't ruin our momentum either.
Brilliant win.

Carn the Hawks!

+ dear, watson from the draft

What an unreal occasion and crowd for the young team to play in front of. Will do them the world of good to know they can deal with the pressure and the atmosphere.
So many positives:
Chol kicking 4 goals, but his run down tackle in the third quarter was sublime and his defensive work all game.
Intercept marking of Sicily, Weddle and Scrimshaw is tremendous.
Massimo threading the eye of a needle with his kicks, plus his ability to take the game on.
Dylan Moore’s energy in every contest he is in.
Connor MacDonald has a ridiculous work rate - he had a few possessions deep in the backline which only comes about from busting a gut to help out.
Cam Mackenzie continues to grow as the weeks go on.
Calsher Dear just continues to wow with his attack on the ball and his ability to follow up.
Speaking of wow, the Wiz - 7 shots on goal for a small forward is unheard of. Doesn’t lack confidence or endeavour and when the goal kicking clicks, watch out.
Ginnivan does so many unheralded things off the ball and the joy he brings to the team is tremendous.
Meek battled away manfully against Nank in the ruck.
Worpel’s kicking forward of centre has become a real thing of beauty - has obviously spent a lot of time working and honing this area.
Impey continues to want to break lines and his defensive work is tremendous - he is so predictable with what he will do for his team mates.
The club slogan this year was no limits, and as the weeks go by, you can see why, as the players and fans dare to believe.
