Weird that we went from being strong in the wet to very average in short time with not major personell change.
Goes to show the change to our gameplan I reckon. More about quick ball movement these days where we were still coming out of grind mode last year. Wish we could flick between modes but clearly it isn't that easy to implement.

You would think that Barlow would immediately be put in the middle and we would be instructed to play long and more direct. With Sandi and our ability around stoppages the wet should be a huge strength.

Moving Barlow out of the centre will do that.
I actually agree with you completely. IMO playing Barlow onball for greater periods of the game would also allow us to have Mundy play more half back, Fyfe more forward and allow RTB to bring GU into the team. Right now Barlow seems to be playing as a link player on a wing and then spending significant time as a high half forward. I would prefer Gu be used in the midfield role and Fyfe taking the centre clearances and then pushing forward more regularly, with Barlow spending the majority of time onball. Mundy playing more half back (for greater periods in a game) would also improve our disposal out of defence, which has been a major issue in our last four games.

Do you think sacrificing Barlow's ball winning for Mundy's classier disposal was a reason for Barlow going off the ball. The first 6-8 weeks it was hard to put any fault on our mids but in the wet we potentially need a rethink aye?

Maybe and I say maybe Ross is keeping this for finals so we don't show off our real game plan. Thus is our best set up. Barlow not fully in and under is strange.

As much as I like to think that, Ross isn't that type of coach. Sure he has added more flexibility this year, but his game plan still very much revolves around players playing a role.

With 2 home finals I don't think he will risk changing much if our form leading in is good.
