The AFL have scheduled a more viewer friendly timeslot this round. Both are live on Channel 7, so not expecting a big turnout. Our magoos have gone above and beyond with all the injuries and high player turnover to be sitting 10th on the ladder whilst the Blooose have no excuses to be sitting dead motherless last in 21st spot. Those like myself who love a double header would know the last few years the AFL have really destroyed the gameday experience with often a 2-3 hour gap from the final siren of Magoos to the ball up of the seniors.

This week its back to how it used to be with only a 40 minute gap so no excuses to not get there early and watch the tiger cubs feast on the rotten carcass of our main rival. With our injury list easing up will be a great opportunity to see the kids up close so head in a bit earlier and at least catch the last 1/2 at Punt Rd.

Blues just fielded their strongest team for the season and ran top 4 team Southport quite close, and get more players back for this game I think.

With Lynch out again we are likely to be very light on for key positioners, with Arch May and Moot El Nour missing from our VFL contingent as well. Fank thuck we grabbed Blight and Gray at the MSD.

Richmond FC

AFL/VFL Rucks: Nankervis, Hayes-Brown, Colina(injured) Naismith(injured) Ryan(Injured)

AFL/VFL Key Positioners: Miller, Balta, Koschitzke, Blight, Gray, Grimes(injured) Gibcus(injured) Lynch(injured) Young(injured) Lefau(injured) Fawcett(injured) May(injured) Girolami(injured)

Undersized potential key positioners: Bauer, Brindley, Davidson, El Nour(injured) Feneley? Pollocks?

60% of our rucks are injured. Over 60% of our genuine key position players are injured. Of the non-injure rcks, Hayes-Brown has only played 2 games for the club. And same for 2 of the non-injured KPP's, only 2 games each. Balta also missed a stretch of games and has had to play both ends. And of the undersized guys El-Nour is injured and Bauer has only played a couple for the season.

Rucks or KPP's who have played in their role 80% of games or more for the team they are in this season:

Nankervis, Miller. That is from 12 ruck/key positions the club has to fill each week. Can not recall a more disruptive run of injuries to tall players throughout a club.

It will hurt our VFL team.

Not as strong a line up as we've had in previous games in terms of AFL listed players but should still put in a pretty good performance, as they need to bounce back after the poor game we had against Box Hill before the bye.

It will be interesting to see how Dow & Cumberland respond after being omitted from the senior side, hopefully both can take it the right way and rebound the way Smith did after he was omitted. Both Smith and Trezise are knocking on the door for a senior recall, and Bauer has slowly been building up after a delayed and injury interrupted season, while Gray has been solid since being drafted and hopefully continues to show good signs. OHB has been a bit of a revelation in the ruck and will have his work cut out for him against Pittonet but should give us a much better understanding of where he is development wise. I do have concerns about Green and Coulthard who haven't really shown a lot the last few games. Both need to show something in the 2nd half of the season if they wish to remain in 2025.

Yeah Green and Coulthard have both been hot garbage. Spots up for grabs as small forwards and nobody has put their hands up all year. Both been injury free is the worst part. Blooose are last on the ladder for a reason so should get it done.

A good update MR and thank you. Do we have a timeline yet for the returns of El Nour and May. They have provided handy book-ends this year and demonstrated their important for the team structure.
