Went to the game. Cannot fault the effort.

First of all I'd like to give a big FK YOU to all the haters, calling the hawfies fairweather supports. Did we expect to win today? No. Did we think it would be good weather today? No. Did we beat the expected MCG attendance by 5,500 people? Yes.

-Liked the games of glass, impey, smith, breust, burgoyne.

-JOM and the other midfielders tried so hard. Was very surprised that he missed all 3 of his set shots. Had been a huge fan of his goalkicking prior to today, but regardless tried to will this team over the line.

-TOB was getting killed by Darling in the first half(The maggots did him no favours). Evened that contest up in the second half and that went a long way to us nearly winning.

-Impey I thought, had one of his worst halfs for the season in the first half. Then in the second, came out and played like an absolute flipping superstar. Jarman is a beast.

-Sicily, although not killing it on the stats, was quite influential and his kicking was, as usual, bloody superb.

-Burgoyne made some decisive plays, especially in the second half. Was good, and elected to kick down the guts with 1.30 left in the match when we were down a goal. Can't really fault him for the decision, but it did lead to an eagles goal.

-Thought the defensive unit was probably worse overall today than it has been generally this year. Multiple cases of my pet peeve, multiple defenders flying for the ball and not a single one of them effecting a proper spoil, leading to an over the back goal.

-Thought the forward unit today was probably better that it has been this year. Still some high/long kicks to the eagles defense, and some bad options going i50 to outnumbered contests, but still overall better than it has been.

-Thought the midfielders production today was actually pretty bloody good. Lost the clearances quite severely but when they've got Nic Nat playing, and you've got an undermanned midfield what can you really do.

-Nash's snap, Hanrahan's goal assist to silk, Worpel's goal among personal highlights of the match.

One interesting sideline. Eagles had only 4 players kick 11 goals between them today. We had 9 players kick 9. In the past 4 weeks, we've only had 2 multiple goalscorers, Lewis (2) against Brisbane Lions and Impey (2) against Essendon. For the second week in a row we've failed to have a multiple goalscorer. There is simply not enough emphasis being placed on kicking goals right now and it's annoying the hell out of me.
The emphasis seems to be stopping the opposition scoring but with some class, some arse and some men in green, the opposition will inevitably score more than we do. Not a lot, but enough. There lies 2019.

There was a period where Cegs missed 2 and Jags missed 1 in the 2nd Q that we just needed to kick. All 3 were inside 25m and the Cegs ones in particular hurt.
Convert even 2 of these would have stopped the flow of the Eagles in the 2nd and the result would have been different.
Hindsight is terrible.

And I totally understand why you’d disagree, the AFL have encouraged the masses to think this way. It’s time for a draft pick lottery to sway us from thinking this way.
That's what I'm getting at. I have too many Saints friends who spend every year from about round 10 on basically hoping they'll lose. Is depressing.

In general, it was our second quarter that lost us the game. We really did struggle and they were much better. It's probably what made the third quarter so enjoyable for me.

I wouldn't be too hard on TOB early first goal by Darling was an over the top handpass because TOB had to pick up someone else's player, second one Hardwick was on him. (Don't ask me how that happened but it did too much for my liking, bit like when Impey ended up on Kennedy) Got legitimately beaten in the contest on the third.

BTW I liked your report.

To be fair, Shuey's last quarter was off his skull. We had no answer to his dominance. Prior to that it was Gaff - was roaming around like an unregistered dog all arvo.

We had a crack. The loss hurts hard. I was there with my son, copping an earful on the siren from some WCE fan. Absolute prick.

Season is shot now. But i agree, we can't bottom out too hard. Gotta sell hope to all.

Honourable losses suck, but they're probably the best thing for us. This year is painful, no other way to put it.

Damn. You can actually pinpoint the second my heart ripped in half.

For me that was about when Ceglar missed his third set shot at goal. And I thought that Darling free directly in front of goal was bloody soft. And there goes the game.

Not a real comfortable day in the outer. Maybe the Kane Cornes Experience is onto something with this fairweather stuff?

Love Impey. Love, love, love, love, love! Bloke has no fear and no quit in him.

Thought Cegs did brilliantly taking, what, four marks inside 50 on a really awful day for marking. Sadly greasy, blustery conditions make kicking tough for lanky ruckmen.

The Smith 50 was a pure professional foul. Got caught. Valid call. If Dangerwood did the same thing against us I would be apoplectic. Fairs fair.

We did some good things.

Scully looks like he still doesn't quite trust his leg for high energy turns (IMHO). That's fair enough. He'll be better next season.

Hendo just runs and runs and runs.

Burgers is practically Hodge at this point.

Hug cam, Simba cam, Floss cam, Dance cam. Yeesh!

Hawfies? That's not a name we use around here

No, let's just pretend to support the team when it suits you (I.e. when we win) and act like a loser and it doesn't matter when we lose.

Seems like you're the one coming off like a Geelong flog.
You're obviously very young and naive, you cannot see the big picture.
Who gives a shit who won round 15 2019, it means nothing....
You obviously have no comprehension of where the team is at, to call this loss one of the most dissapointing you have seen?
I would rate this loss as the most easiest to cope with in years.....

I cannot believe Hawthorn supporters were watching that last 5 minutes hoping West Coast would win. Surely not.

I understand after the fact looking at what it means to our season, but surely in the moment, game on the line, you could not be barracking for the opposition to win - that is F’d up.

I'm sure that 99% of us... Especially the ones that rocked up wanted to win desperately.

But when the siren goes and you walk out.. you reflect on the negatives and positives.

Settle on trying to call out fellow supporters
