Look I like Bruce and was our great white hope 3 years ago when he kicked over 50.

Please list the forwards in the last 3 years who have done that and it's a short list. Many draft pick 1- 5 forwards are so far from it Paddy included.

Gone backwards without Rooey taking no 1 back as he has become the go to forward and in reality he is not the money man like Rooey.....no disgrace there.

He was dropped early in year I suppose for attitude but am guessing .... and surprise surprise we looked shocking going forward when he wasn't there.

I just reckon we are a better side with him in as he is different to the other forwards.

We all want a tall big onballer reckon Battle may eventually take that spot and that's a scary proposition maybe with Acres as well swapping as high half forwards/ wingers. Leave Bruce as 2nd tall. Membrey is more like a Bruest forward link man who plays tall.

Battle could also replace Bleach's role and we go with Long and Gresh as small forwards now that's starts looking a bit scary especially if we can get the run and gun ball movement down pat.

I want Bruce in the side.

Also suggesting that we swap him into the superdraft and get a first rounder....only one issue other clubs also consider the draft highly and will value their picks accordingly....so do not expect that we will catch a club on the hop.

I think this week will see whether we have turned around or that Melb was our version of Richmond last year.

We almost beat them last year circumstances are almost identical am hoping for a solid committed effort from us and expect a close game heart says Saints head says Power.

Clubs will be planning how to combat our game style and we will have to be ready for that. Expect a tag on Gresh this week and be interesting to see how he works with it.

If gresh gets tagged when he is fwd he can push into the mid and so on!

Gresh is very hard to play against, plays mid, deep fwd, high fwd, off the back of the square and can go inside or outside.

Have fun tagging that

Gresham is a freak. If the 2015 draft was replayed today, he'd probably go top 5 after Curnow, Oliver and maybe Rioli and Hopper.

no football club should ever have to play in adelaide. how do we correct this problem?
But, but... according to the Adelaide media, the rest of the comp only exists so the two SA teams have something to do between showdowns ...

Spot on. Difference between him and the other's when the ball hits the ground and in general play is stark.

As you were. J
Must do something right - he averages 2 goals a game since we moved him forward.

Just for comparison I'll throw in a few mobile forwards goal averages

Tex Walker 2.3,
Jarryd Roughead 2.05,
Justin Westhoff 2,
Jesse Hogan 2.15

Yep complete spud is Josh!!!!

These comments from Aaron Hamill after last weeks Sandy game sum up why he's so much value for us.

Josh Bruce (3.1) Eight kicks, eight handballs, seven marks, two tackles

Brucey competed really well in the air for us to either win or halve the contest. Port only marked it twice in our forward 50m, which has been a bit of an Achilles Heel for us. Stemming from Brucey’s contest work, we were able to lay 28 front-half tackles, so that goes hand-in-hand with Josh’s work in the air.

It's funny, the guys you mentioned all do so much more then Kick Goals.

Anyway that's just an opinion as is yours.

More I look at it the more I think we may give this a big shake if we can overcome Ryder & Robbie Gray.
Think we can break even with Dunstan on Wines and I’d like to see Newnes be told to get his mongrel on and go to Powell-Pepper.
I know some will say what about Wingard, Ebert, Sam Gray etc. I say what about Steele, Gresham, Billings etc.
Yep so if we can at least break even, or somehow nullify Ryder, that will help reduce the Grays output.
Gunna be a close one again I reckon, Saints by 8pts.

Bruce is a trier, but he isn't a natural footballer. His decision making, instincts and reflexes all regularly let him down.
He is a defender turned forward “trier” who kicked 50 goals in a shit team and applied excellent forward pressure. A “star” specialist forward Tom Hawkins has only kicked a career best 55 in a good team. So I think Bruce deserves more credit! I know it’s a little far fetched, but imagine if our mids can actually kick :)

Think Steele gets wines. He is our tagged now and wines suits him more than any other port mid. Can’t see us winning but hope to be in the game for a fair while.

I know most won’t agree but I think Bruce suits our forward line more than we paddy. We won’t do it because paddy is improving slowly but he still struggles with defensive and second efforts. Matter of fact his first goal on Sunday was because it was turned over and kicked back to him after he didn’t chase.

I agree. Think Paddy should be developing in the 2s working on his marking and goal kicking, once he can consistently kick 3-4 goals a game and improves his fitness to be able to chase, then drop 1 of the other 3 based on form. It’s a good problem to have. The beauty is we got Battle, Membrey and Bruce for peanuts. One of the reason Paddy is a fan favourite is also because he is a no. 1 draft pick and we don’t want to lose hope

He destroys the VFL, needs to be developing at AFL level. He was kicking 4s and 12-18 marks a game when he was 19

Didn't chase? It was turned-over from a Melbourne kick in.
Don't make up a story just to suit your opinion.

Agree with this.

I may be calling it early but as far as I'm concerned, Bruce for Battle is no upgrade.
