Second wave of Omicron (I lost count of which number variant this is now) infections, plus flu and rhino virus (the cold) really starting to hit work (well it’s been 3 weeks now, really), with both staffing and patient levels.

I’d expect to see our playing group impacted on a similar level to the community in general.

What ever QLD health is reporting, you can probably triple for the real numbers.
NOOOO! Surely you're not saying QLD Health/the government bureaucracy would manipulate statistics to suit/push a narrative:think:.... well I never.

I'm all for the kids getting a go, but there is a sense of stubbornance to spite our faces if Tunstill is selected - again.

It was painfully obvious to all that whoever selects the team got it wrong to the point of arrogance last week and if they are now doubling down by playing him again in another red hot game. We need guys to stand up and whilst not a footy head like a lot of you, but that rarely comes from a first or second gamer in my uneducated view. Perhaps a sub and if he does get a go, the game may not be so red hot but being at the final against Dogs last year, the last Q was fever pitch or whatever they call it and not a place for an inexperienced kid.

While I 100% agree with your sentiment and I don't feel he's ready just yet. It's worth noting that the club really rate Tunstill. They think his ceiling is not far off McCluggage's and right now (rightly or wrongly) he has gone past Robinson for that wing role.

I don’t think I’m emotionally prepared for another COVID wave tbh.

I don't care how they rate him there are 2 players who would presently be clearly better in that role. More on anything I've seen. I respect that they say his ceiling is not far off McCluggage if that's what they say . Obviously he's doing a lot of things that aren't in plain sight of anyone who's watched him play.

Things I would like to see this game.

Someone to land a bloody tackle! preferably on Libba.
5 instances of one of our tall forwards crashing a pack. or even one?? please do something
a center clearance where the bulldogs win, but because of our ferocious pressure we win it back within 3 disposals without it entering our 50.
keep Shache markless.
Starc to keep Weightma goalless. and for the umps to pay 3 diving free kicks against him
Naughton to have his headband ripped off and thrown into the crowd ;)

pettiness is my forte and I want this to be an enjoyable watch.

Apparently Matho was in the captains run today.

At least it looks like Fagan is willing to change up the team.

I'd have dropped Tunstill before Dev but its not shock he is being omitted as he has been very anonymous outside of his first game back.

The refrain will be that he didn't get a go in his preferred position - fine. But I don't know how many rotation he can get there if they aren't going to drop JL. If JL is in the team then rotations have to be found for Clug and Rayner inside, and Bailey on occasion. There is more of a spot on the outside than inside.

Dev definitely has better capacity to run defensively than JL but has not shown much in terms of winning large volumes of footy, even when he's had a chance in there. He's no better kick than JL either.

I'm not in love with the decision but I think those saying to just chuck tom berry or dev in the middle are probably more in the mindset of thinking the season is gone so may as well develop the kids - clearly the club can't take that view sitting third on the latter with the third best percentage in the comp, so will back JL in to see if he gets back in form. JL back in form is a better option than either.

I have my doubts about him getting back in form though.

Also, very glad it looks like Matho isn't coming in to the team. We can't play him, JL and Neale in the same midfield.

I rate him too, from what I have seen.
I do on the other hand think it is a little too early for him and he is not quite ready but I would live for him to prove me wrong and come out and have a blinder.
I do think he has a pretty high ceiling and I know we didn’t see it last week but is a tough and hard at it player.
The wing position is the most up for grabs in the team at the moment with many players rotating through this year, the only constant has been JBerry. So one wing is definitely up for grabs.

I'd be stunned if James Tunstill got another shot, he looked clearly not "currently" up to the level last Thursday night, surely Prior or Ah Chee would be of better value right now.

Feel bad for Tom Berry, gets thrown in for a game here and there in a role that is not his forte and then gets dropped.

I think we are in serious trouble if we are playing Lyons and Matho tomorrow night, will make our defensive run on transition even worse.

Fixing/replacing JL is going to have to be an off-season thing I think. I can't see them dropping him given track record.

Yeah I guess you’re right.

Watching Lyons literally walk out of the contest is getting tiresome but I don’t think we have many better options.

:think:Are we beginning to see why the Suns and Crows didn't want to hold on to Jarryd?

Lyons has given us years of awesome service but I think his limitations have really been accentuated this year. Either because of age or the game changing.

Stewie Dew may be feeling slightly smug though.

He has helped in our rise to the top 4 so I still think we can be the smug ones.

He’s still one of the best recruits we’ve had and was a major player in us becoming a top 4 side.

"Words are pretty cheap now, we just gotta get into action & hopefully see a better response." - Lachie Neale at todays presser.

I'm pretty sure that this is how the majority of members & supporters feel...bring on the Doggies!

Yeah when Jarryd was declared fit to play, he should've been tapped on the shoulder and been dropped anyway on form; He has been a great recruit for us costing us nothing, but speed was never his friend and is only getting worse as he has gotten older;

No idea how we are going to carry him another 2 years on the list if this form keeps up and he's not going to get any faster now at his age;

The concern is we end up losing Dev because we've trying to hold on in hope that Jarryd regains form from a year or two ago.
