Thats good to know, Yahoo weather is never right.

Just checked it on the news before for the weather. If it's raining at makes the game on saturday more of scrappy contest and its 50/50 contest then. But no chance of rain at this stage hopefully. We know that Cyril is a wet weather specialist and Breust too! :)

I'm also in the quietly confident camp. I think without Buddy, it makes us a little less unpredictable and our small forwards can fire. Our average score since 2010 in games without Buddy is just over 104 from 9 games of which we've lost 2. So we can clearly score without him. In saying that though our worst score was 59 against the Pies in round 4 2010.

I too am quietly confident.

A couple of points as an aside. Our currently % is greater then anytime in our history at this stage of the year apart from 1971 and just higher than it was in 1989.

A couple of handy years!

I think this week is a bit of a free swing at the Pies.

If we have a loss (not a bad loss), we all know that we can improve when we include Hodge, Bud and Goo.
If we win, than it will rock the Pies knowing we can only get better. A big mental edge could be gained.

Nice spot to be in.

Don't worry about the percentage too much. We've played some average average teams this year. The only decent wins I'd say we've had have been against Adelaide (they weren't great that week), Fremantle & Carlton.

Hope you don't mind an opposition point of view, but I just find it interesting to note you seem to believe small forwards can tear our backline apart, lots of teams have them but the only time it's been a constant issue has been against Carlton, although you did a number on us in round 1 we were all over the place then. Anyway, last week against Geelong we didn't seem to have too much of a problem with the likes of Paul Chapman, Steve Johnson etc. Personally I am a little worried about facing Breust and Puopolo who are two of the most underrated small forwards in the AFL, as well as Rioli who everyone knows what to expect. None of our back 6 are particularly small and nimble, they're basically all 185cm+ with people like Toovey, Maxwell, Reid, Brown, O'Brien as well as Tarrant and Goldsack if they go back, Heath Shaw's a rebounding half-back so focuses more on attack but chances are he'll go to Cyril if anything, hopefully we have a plan for the crumbers because I do believe we have the talls sorted with Brown to Gunston/Hale and Reid to Roughead. Looking forward to the game though, should be a ripper :)

I think this weeks game will be a very different match compared to the Geelong game. I got the impression that Geelong's pressure was not that good, particularly in their own half (I was watching on TV so cannot be 100% sure), and their forwards were rarely home - Johnson and Chapman both got sucked into the midfield which allowed the pies defenders too much latitude. I remember the R1 game well and one of the things the hawks did well that day was have six forwards home for much of the game which meant all of the Pies defenders were accountable for someone. O'Brien and Shaw are much better when they have some freedom as are most HBF's. This can only be achieved (Hawks having 6 forwards) so long as the midfield is performing. Will be interesting to see how this match pans out.

This weeks match will see two sides who apply elite pressure go head to head. Is a genuine 50/50 for mine.

Hawks look swtiched on, so do the pies, I wouldn't be using the Geelong game as a comparison, they looked lost. The Round 1 game, Pies actually did a number on us in the midfield, but their lack of depth meant we just overan them in the last quarter, but neither team is playing anything like that round 1 game now. Sewell is moving around like a bulldozer and so is Lewis, Whitecross has developed into a very good mid over the course of this season. I really can't tip this game, as the pies form is really hard to call and Hawks have been culling weaker teams. I'm honestly looking forward to a good contest, I just hope the gutter brusiers that make up the lower ranks of the pies faithfull can stomach losing.

It's great the level of confidence here, I must confess I am nervous about this game. It will be a good test of whether we are the real deal. I believe we are, Buddy or not. If we can shut down their tall forwards and hit them hard in the contested possessions we should nail them.
