This is an elimination final, we simply have to win, too far behind and too much has to go right if we lose this Saturday night.

Get the win and we can look at the draw after that, but simply have to get the 4 points.

You need to realise that using the ‘if you aren’t like me, you’re embracing mediocrity’ statement, over and over again and again, your attempts to stir just become dull and boring.

Now if you’re not doing this to stir and are truly this disappointed in the club, then the biggest hipocrisy is that you’re words are so strong, but your ineffectual behaviour to change the club in reality speaks volumes about your true capability.
Well considering you are happy to toot Chris Scotts horn that tells me you are willing to accept the results we have been getting - which are average. The fact you are not offering critical thought on his coaching abilities and list management strategies proves this. Trust me if it was for me we would have had a new coach a long time ago and not recruited over the hill spuds and injury prone players who never make it on the park. Thank the lord we got Selwood and Dangerfield. Hawkins F/S, Ablett F/S. The only top quality player who contributes consistently outside that is Duncan. The rest go missing depending on what day of the week it is. Facts.

I see this as a danger game. The Dee's nearly beat us in round 1 and our guys are very inconsistent. The Dee's have been playing well in recent weeks.

Possible Outs: Buzza (dropped), Simpson (dropped), Henry (rest), Parfitt (rest), & Tuohy (Concussion test pending)
In From: Murdoch, Taylor, Henderson, GHS, Cunico, Smith.

Menzel needs to keep playing and work his way through his issues, and Jones probably deserves another week for the experience. Will they bring in Smith to match up against Gawn? A home game at Kardinia Park is good for us, but other teams know we're vulnerable to a bit of aggressive pressure and the Dee's will be looking to see us off as a finals threat.

No they haven't, they have lost 3 of the last 5 just like us ,hardly setting the world on fire.

Duncan is a better player than anyone in our back 6 easily. And has been for much longer.
quite agree, but lets not ignore the performance of the back line this year. Or is this an exercise of ranking individuals rather than looking at the bigger picture?

Majority dropped their load on the big stage last year when finals pressure arrived. We are sitting mid table - they aren't doing that great a job.

Not sure if serious.

If you can't recognise that our backline (the composition of which is significantly different to last year) hasn't been a big positive in this season then I hold very little hope of convincing you of anything.

To summarise your post - team is mid table, backline is part of team, backline must be mid table. Simplistic, strawman nonsense at it's finest. Nuance is a real thing man, you should check it out, it will change your world.

Your post just seems like negativity for negativity's sake.

I think we need another goal kicker to kick goals. Menzel is the option there but I still wouldn't mind giving Crameri another few games and see what he his got...

The second line of the chorus of my favourite Beatles song sums up the likelihood of that...

Your post just seems like negativity for negativity's sake.

Even after a poor effort defensively from the entire team Thursday night, we're in third place for 'points against' across the season. A whole three goals behind the leaders (the media darling Tigers), after 16 games.

Which makes the negativity that sees that our defensive unit 'aren't doing that great a job' quite incredible, really.

But entirely predictable at the same time.

Don't see why it matters. As far as I can tell it's the opinion of exactly one poster. Which makes its overall importance somewhat limited.

Simply 'quite incredible' in my view, I agree.

And that statement is of course imbued with the same level of unimportance as every other single post around here.

Including yours.

extremely overrated

Stewart looks a good player, the rest would not get a game in our 07-11 team

the backline has done well being undermanned and defended well but offer nothing offensively, it's a mid table defence

Then I’m very happy with their impersonation of a top 3 defence.

I am not sure that our back line has been that good this year. While Geelong has a good record in terms of points against, we have also been playing in low scoring games where on many occasions both teams have been playing a loose man in defence. On the occasions when the numbers have been equal, our backline has struggled at times and lacked composure. Both the games against Sydney (in Geelong) & Adelaide I believe we lost mainly due to defensive errors. There is no doubt that we need Henderson or Taylor back in one of the key defensive posts & I think someone like Duncan would add the composure, class & foot skills that we need to set up our attacks out of defence.

I am just along for the ride. I enjoy every game that I see. Even when we lose, I enjoy the positive moments within the game. That's just me.
