A defender’s contested possessions and tackle count would fluctuate quite a lot I’d suspect compared to an inside midfielder for example.

Tuohy, a running defender, had 7 contested possessions out of 22 in total, with 3 tackles.

Jayden Short, a very impressive running defender from Richmond, had 4 contested possessions out of 23 in total, with 0 tackles on the weekend.

Or Laird (13 contested out of 43 total, with 2 tackles) or Atkins (10 contested out of 28 total, 1 tackle).

I don’t think those players are soft, and I don’t think Tuohy is soft. Tuohy can make poor decisions & execute poorly when under intense pressure like our team does.
According to AFL stats from our website Zac Tuohy from 16 gaaverages less than 1.5 tackles
Yeh Zac has regressed since crossing from Carlton, captured by the negative Geelong culture, after leaving the success of Carlton.

Really great thoughts here.

Zac Tuohy after 16 games in 2018 averages less than 4.5 contested possessions per game, less than 1.5 tackles per game and has taken only 2!! contested marks. Zac is an outside player that turns the ball over under pressure, I fail to see why we recruited him TBH

I’m confused as to why you’re judging an outside running defender on his contested possessions, tackles & contested marks like he’s some inside midfielder...

Now would I take someone like Nick Vlastuin over Tuohy? Everyday of the week. But that doesn’t mean I wouldn’t take Tuohy at all.

Gregson out for the season. Well he wasn't really in the running for a game at the moment, but crikey, we've been absolutely hammered with injuries this year.

I'm not sure what his contract status is, but I'd have him high up on the delist list..

BTW if we can't beat Melbourne on our home deck then the problems are way bigger than I thought.

I'm not confident.

I have strong reservations about our ability to match, let alone surpass, the Demon's ferocity at the ball, and am resigned to the fact that we are poorly skilled by hand and foot. How the Dee's compare in that regard I'm not so sure..........sooo, I'm simply hoping our top end is good enough to drag the rest of the boys over the line.

Hawkins, Menzel, Stanley and Smith when he pushes forward, not to mention Menegola and Dangerfield when they float forward; that's about as good as we could hope for IMO.
I meant Who (Stanley) is taking marks!

It was a statement, not a question.

Funny, from the content and tone of all your previous posts, I had the impression that you consider the whole club to be a disaster area, from alpha to omega, and that it needs to be torn down, root and branch, and rebuilt from the ground up.

The mind boggles as to just how you might think its problems could be any bigger.

Of course, my impression may be wrong, there might be one or two little things you like about the club, and it's just that you've forgotten to mention a single one of them in your previous 3000 odd posts.

Anyone else get the feeling that Geelong are still held as a benchmark team? We havent been flash for a while now, but teams seem to come out and hunt us like we are the reigning premiers year after year. Probably a by-product of us being so good for so long that opposition sides take us a bit more seriously than others. I also think this half the reason we get belted by teams we view as inferior every now and then.

I'm not sure we're looked at as a benchmark team but we've got stupidly unlucky with certain teams being in form and having good fitness when we've played them. There's no doubt that the Bulldogs and Essendon played their games of the season against us. The dogs played like a solid top 8 team and we still should've beaten them (we gave away really unlucky/dumb goals in the last quarter which was the difference). Essendon the day we played them would've beaten anyone in the league. They were impossibly aggressive defensively and then clean with the ball going forward.

Add in Adelaide got a number of players back and had one of their better performances, Hawthorn had their best availability for the year against us and West Coast got us on a short break and only snuck over us because we were cut down with injuries. Teams would be dumb to still treat us as the benchmark but I'd say we've come up against some sides who've played really well and lost a lot of 50-50 games. Add in our injury problems and you can see why we're struggling to make the 8.

Your impression is wrong, thats what happens when you try label people. I post positive things about the club as well. I just have higher expectations than most which is why I get frustrated when we don't perform to a level I believe we are capable of. Others seem content with being a middle of the road team who wins most games each season but fails in finals - not myself. To each their own.

List them.

What about the number 9 take no prisoners Kelly, and even Wojo we had them everywhere we gave sides no peace.
I'm sure plenty of oppo have had sleepless nights knowing that the next day they'd have to listen to Mackies sledging.

We didn't just destroy teams physically but psychologically as well.

Knowing how we've selected teams thus week, I'm thinking Cockatoo is a sure bet for selection this week.
In truth though, I would consider selecting Smith, Henderson and Crameri this week.
Surely Simpson and Buzza must go, and I'm guessing Jones will too

Cockatoo is injured and gone for the season. You should try and keep up.

Mackie’s sledging only worked because he had Scarlett, Wojo and Milburn to back him up. Those three would either beat you with skill and make you look silly, or absolutely cream you in a contest (Wojo and Dasher especially).

You need to realise that using the ‘if you aren’t like me, you’re embracing mediocrity’ statement, over and over again and again, your attempts to stir just become dull and boring.

Now if you’re not doing this to stir and are truly this disappointed in the club, then the biggest hipocrisy is that you’re words are so strong, but your ineffectual behaviour to change the club in reality speaks volumes about your true capability.
