Liking the support for CJ on here - I'll look again when I'm at the G tomorrow.

I'm sure that he's capable of much more - and that's my issue - that an inconsistent CJ is given many opportunities to 'gain form' whilst Harry (and Josh for that matter) aren't afforded the same luxury.

Mind you, Breust has been very lucky at times too.

It just seems that some players are afforded more wriggle room than others, and Harry especially has been very very stiff.
CJ at his best (run and carry, overhead marking, etc) is a real weapon for the club but if we are being honest it’s been a couple of years since we have seen this (mostly due to injury of course). He needs to start to produce at the level we know he again soon though as we have a fair bit of depth at VFL level these days that can take his spot if required.

I agree that Harry has been treated pretty harshly this year. After this latest dropping you’d have to think he would be into his manager to make a move as it’s pretty clear Sam doesn’t rate him (for whatever reason). Would be a pity if that does eventuate as he’s a very handy player to have as a specialist substituted/ plug and play option. Also a ripping bloke to have around the club as well from all reports.

Harry may as well start looking for a move now,if he hasn't been already.

How CJ stays in ahead of Morrison after a run of bang average games is a mystery.

Plus Harry will sit under a high ball without imagining footsteps behind him, so that's a plus right there.

He'd want a very big game CJ to payback Mitchells belief in him.
....here we go again

You really want to ditch him and have him go somewhere else to realise his potential.

Ive never seen one poster go so vehemently after one player. Ever.

He must have done something personally to you. Whatever that is I am sorry on his behalf

McRae was begging us to play Finn. Mind games. He hates it when Daicos is tagged. Blunts his main weapon. They rely on him more than anyone to give them the "spark" they need.
I think McRae knows the Pies are done, they are the opposite of our 2009/10 seasons, with everything going haywire at the end of the year, injuries, form. They spiked for the Melbourne game but have been on the slide since.
After Saturday, they can catch up with Selwood and organise their mad Monday outfits.

You need to watch CJ live, he is Chance Bateman like. His work rate and running patterns are amazing and create space for others to do their thing.
Also when he "sets up the wall" when we have the ball in our forward 50, opposition won't kick in his area or contest. Collingwood kicking to Josh Daicos on the wing, who's going to beat him in an arial contest, Morrison or Jiath? if it his the deck, who's winning a foot race?, if you gotta stick a tackle? get and run it forward?

Morrison is very tidy and finds space to get his share of disposals, but he doesn't win contests, he isn't tall enough, strong enough, aglie or fast enough.

CJ hugely valuable to the side, especially on big grounds. Keeps the ground big, allows the forward line plenty of space and can be damaging with ball in hand. I like Harry as a player, but he does not have the same running capability.
Sadly, you would think Harry lands elsewhere at season's end, as a FA will walk with no compensation if Hawks land Battle (same applies to Nash)

Pies players don't look like they are enjoying this year.

Darcy Moore has lost his swagger.

They do not look up and about compared to last year.

Yes they have injuries but every club has them.

They look flat.

We need to land some blows early and take the crowd and umpires out of the game.

They love paying those cheapies when teams have their tales in the air.

Ironically coming up against Ginnivan (who will no doubt incite the Pies crowd into getting vocal) and Finn hard tagging Daicos could potentially end up sparking the Pies players up.

CJ has been in average form since coming back into the side, that's pretty undeniable. He's been fumbly and panicky and unsure with his decision making. Not including his first game back, where he was subbed out, he's averaged:

11.4 touches
3.3 marks
2.1 tackles

But we've seen the electic performances that he can produce, albeit it was a few years ago now, but his body has let him down too many times since then. He's going to be a slow burn and will take some time to get back to what we know he can produce.

It's rough on Morrison, who has been pretty good, but we are banking on the upside of CJ. He can provide something to the side that few others in the league can.

Breakdown of Age & Games from the selected 23 (barring any late changes)

Average Age - Hawthorn 24 yr 11 months, Collingwood 27 yr 9 months.
Average Games - Hawthorn 91.9, Collingwood 136.7

Less than 50 games - Hawthorn 7, Collingwood 5
50 - 99 games - Hawthorn 8, Collingwood 4
100 - 149 games- Hawthorn 3, Collingwood 4
150 - 199 games - Hawthorn 4, Collingwood 4
200 or more - Hawthorn 1, Collingwood 6.

Exciting times :)

Bad weather or not, I really hope the Hawthorn fan base turn out in numbers tomorrow arvo.
Been a while since we’ve had an important game like this, this late in the season.
Our home game, would love to see and hear a loud, aggressive Hawthorn crowd because we know the Collingwood supporters will be just that.

Ended up lucking into better seats, so I'm selling 4 seats Q55 Row R if anyone is interested. Same price I paid for them, $45ea.

Apologies if this is the wrong thread for this.

I think it's a good time for attending live. Sun's still out while you're going in but by half time it's dark enough it's essentially a night game. Then after the game you get the whole evening to revel in a win or distract yourself from a loss.

Or they could have Thursday night games. Twilight start must be frustrating for afl local participants who don’t complete their games in time to travel to the AFL venue.

All he needs to do is tidy his skills up and he will fly. Will come with match time but it needs a little more then just time as well

Wet, cold and very windy is the forecast. It's gonna be an old fashioned slog. A battle of the wills over who is willing to run harder and endure more sh*t weather. One or two skillful kicks may break the whole game open, otherwise it's run and fumble type stuff, I think.

You will probably find the MCG grounds will be closed also so no parking at the G.

Looks like Sam is getting into McRae’s and Daicos’ head with Finn selection and comments (like game worth more than usual etc). Not usually what he does.
We should be absolutely primed for this. Don't care they have been hammered in the media it's basically an elimination final so if we're not frothing at the mouth to get stick into them we don't deserve to play finals. We failed the Geelong test of them smacking us around we should have learned a lesson from that and shouldn't allow it to happen to that extent in the foreseeable future.

Sam has never run a hard tag through the middle during CBA's, and Daicos has made the move into the middle full-time.

Surely Nash will take him during CBA's and then Finn will move onto him from there.
Daicos really likes to get on the move at centre bounces. Rather than the player on him it’s all about blocking the space that he’s going to run into.

If we get our hands on the ball first though we should be able to exploit them going the other way.

You could have made the same arguments (short, slow, etc) about our coach but he went alright (5 PCMS, 4 premierships and a Brownlow).

Of course I am not saying Harry is anywhere in Sam's league as a player (to be fair very few are) but just making the point that you don't judge a player purely on their athletic capacity.

And right now if I had to pick between Harry and CJ for a spot in a much win game I would personally pick Harry based on recent form. CJ's averaging 11 disposals of the wing this year. I know he does a lot of unrewarded running but there wouldn't be another winger in the league getting so few disposals.

I think only a quarter time lead will quell my frustration that we’re wearing a White guernsey against Collingwood at a Home Game.

Regardless, interesting team changes, Harry did a great job as sub & will no doubt keep knocking on the door.

Made mention on this forum that McKenzies last 6 or so weeks were in a bit of a plateau (to much objection), but no doubt a freshen up will do him wonders.

Bring on Saturday & Carn Hawks!
