The port thread is an interesting read. Wow they go hard at Ken, they played better than us tonight and apparently all the players need to be sacked too. Ahh BF the team names might be different but the posters are all the same. Oh and apparently according to them they got totally screwed by the umps. 🤔 I swear I was reading some of our old comments in it.

Nick Daicos got sat back on his arse tonight. Drew got the points. But, he fought back in the last. Credit to the kid. A great time to get a reality check. The big boys come out at finals. He will learn from tonight and be better for the next hot game. I’m rapt that he had this type of game tonight.
He absolutely did not get sat on his arse. I think you need to watch the replay. Did lots of things which do not get you stats. And 9 clearances and a clutch goal. Please. Watch the replay tomorrow.

They’ve hated Hinkley for years. It’s becoming a running joke on BF these days.

The best way to troll a Port supporter is advocate Ken be re-signed on a new long-term deal 😂

I came here to post 2 things.

1. This side is bad for my heart but good for my soul.
2. Some of the posters in the game day thread shouldn't have the face to post here after a game like this. If they can't keep their negativity and bile to themselves until the game has finished then GTFO; you're pea-hearted and fickle AF and have no place in this joint.

Jamie Elliott for PM.
lol 😂 you must be new here.

The Cox was one was a throw. He caught it first then threw it.
Aliir done the same things a couple of minutes earlier, which wasn’t paid, hence denying us a shot on goal

It's hilarious isn't it? I read comments from some of our supporters tonight and feel like I've watched a different game. I read their thread after the match and definitely thought I'd watched a different game.

Not when rated against the Marshall one.

That was ports 2nd goal from a throw they got one earlier similarly in a tackle 1 handed throw.

Also the insufficient attempt with kicking off the ground especially McCreery who did it blind looking for territory.
The alternative is they pick it up and run it over the line which IS deliberate and really no intent.

That’s a pretty astonishing opening line considering Nick had 25 disposals, 9 clearances and a goal while being molested.
Yeah, he was down on his normal output, but sat back on his arse? Take a breath there champ.
"astonishing"??. Nice hyperbowl to counter a hyperbowl.

Nick's first 3 quarters were the worst 3 quarters I've seen from him. Drew well and truly took the points against him. He was fumbly, missing targets by foot and by hand, gave away costly free kicks and looked flustered. Credit to him he pushed through that and had a good 4th quarter but lets not pretend it was a good game from him.

I mean Lets not pretend it was a bad game either. He held such a high standard with his performances that 25 possessions 9 clearances and a goal is now considered a bad game… i mean c’mon

I think Kens tactics actually combated our gameplan for 3/4 and put them in a good position.
Also thought Port's players executed largely very well and for large parts had our measure esp for fwd half ground control in q2 n q3.

As for the umpiring I thought they got a very very bias ride multiple missed free kicks from Port throws which resulted in goals, multiple free kicks for insufficient attempt from kick off the grounds in wet weather, hands in the back by forwards, rioli slapping Murphy across the face ( should be a free kick), N.Daicoa was repeatedly held in the contest without the ball.

Any way our we defended well took our opportunities and threw down the gauntlet in the last and had a great win.
We are a 6 goal better team in Melbourne in the dry.

It’s time they changed the rule to last touch out free against, and no penalty inside the arcs.
Works in the AFLW.
The umpires have shown they simply do not have the sufficient ESP powers to actually read the players mind.

Congratulations on the win, you guys are never beaten.

That was a great game of footy, Craig Macrae said it was the best game he's been involved in during the past 2 years.

Tough loss to swallow, but both sides put on a great advertisement for the game.

I thought it was a really nervous start from us.

Also think ports players defended both the stoppage and the "spread" space ready to pounce on us or be off the pack where the ball would spill too.

That put high pressure on our players inside that ring.
Similar ro how Brisbane sat off us and waited to nail the receiver's, the defensive ring at stoppage is loosened a meter or 2 so they can defended both the outlet or send more into the contest if needed.

Imo we were somewhat out coached for much of the night.

Murphy better wear boxers head gear next time he plays at AO for some reason when he’s there the players want to smash his head in.

Imo you don't need esp just need to of have played the game.

We sit at home see players running towards the boundary to a loose ball, pick it up then keep running to take it over.
We know their intent is to create a throw in stoppage.
If they were in their f50 100% they could pivot and keep it in but on a wing or defense they aim to reset. We are all taught it.
Yet this is very rarely payed if a chaser ensues.

Kicking for territory when under pressure in the wet is not guaranteed ro be just trying to find teh boundary line and gain a stoppage plus meters.
Could be just trying to get it forward hoping to creat an opportunity for a team mate.

If the crowd can pick it 90% of the time then the umps should be able

You must be one of those people who only saw Nick play this year. He had much worse games when he got to play a cruisy seagull role off half back all through his rookie season. Like 16 touches and 3 marks against the Blues amongst numerous other low impact games, while playing a way easier role and with no tag. Saying a 25 touch 1 goal output with actual midfield inside work and a heavy tag is the worst game you've seen him play is a pretty big case of short term memory and lack of context. Nicks efficiency has been down a fair bit since he moved into midfield full time, because you know... that's inevitable. He's getting the ball in traffic now, not out in acres of space off half back with all the time in the world to dispose. Him having a lower efficiency night in the wet with a quality tagger on him is perfectly reasonable (we don't actually have any data to compare his performance under those conditions, other than pre season v Maginness where he was poor, him getting tagged off half back earlier in the season is not remotely close to the same thing).

The big difference is people are used to Nick having explosive running chains in space where he can show off his skill. So when a team limits that, people think he's not impacting the game when they don't see it, and ignore the huge improvement he's made to his inside game since the start of the season.

This was an decent game for his standards considering the tag, position played and conditions. People underestimate the difference between playing actual midfield vs a cruisy role off HB though.
